Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between gender diversity in leadership and income diversification within the Indonesian banking sector, with earnings management as a moderating factor. Focusing on banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from 2018 to 2023, the research evaluates how board diversity—specifically gender, age, educational background, and financial expertise—affects income diversification, as measured by the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI). Gender diversity is posited to influence income stability positively, as female leaders often contribute to more ethical and conservative financial decisions, which may stabilize income sources. Hierarchical regression analysis, moderated by earnings management variables, was employed to test these relationships. Results indicate that gender diversity is significantly associated with income concentration, while the impact of age, education, and financial expertise diversity on income diversification is not statistically significant. Earnings management moderates the relationship between financial expertise and income diversification, suggesting a conditional effect where high earnings management strengthens the income concentration associated with financial expertise. These findings contribute to the ongoing discourse on ethical leadership, financial stability, and gender diversity in banking governance.

Abstract

Consumers who are satisfied with their consumption of a particular good/service are highly likely to continue using that good/service. However, word of mouth, whether positive or negative, offline or electronic, will undoubtedly influence the intention to reuse digital banking services. This study aims to analyze and understand how e-servqual affects satisfaction and how e-WOM moderates the impact of satisfaction on the reuse of digital banking. The study employs a survey method by distributing questionnaires to 185 respondents selected through purposive random sampling. The analytical tool used in this research is Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), with e-servqual/electronic service quality as the independent variable and satisfaction and continuance intention as the dependent variables, and e-Word of Mouth as the moderating variable. Hypotheses are tested using the SmartPLS 3.2.9 program. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant influence of electronic service quality on satisfaction. There is also an influence between satisfaction and continuance intention, but e-WOM cannot moderate satisfaction on reuse intention. Therefore, it can be concluded that when consumers are already satisfied with digital banking services, they will continue to use digital banking despite reading many positive and negative reviews or opinions about digital banking.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of Non-Performing Loans (NPL) and Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) on Return on Assets (ROA) in Indonesian banking from 2017 to 2023, with inflation examined as a moderating factor. Using panel data regression analysis on 301 observations from 43 banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, the study finds that NPL negatively affects ROA but lacks statistical significance, contrary to expectations from the bad management hypothesis. In contrast, LDR positively and significantly influences ROA, supporting the Anticipated Income theory. Moderation analysis reveals that inflation does not significantly moderate the relationships between NPL and ROA, nor LDR and ROA. These findings suggest that while inflation impacts economic conditions and investment decisions, its direct effect on bank profitability through NPL and LDR is limited. The findings imply that enhancing managerial competencies in credit assessment and risk management is crucial for mitigating NPL risks and improving bank profitability. Banks should also prudently manage LDR to maximize profitability while considering credit risk. Effective inflation risk management strategies are recommended despite its minimal direct impact on NPL and LDR effects on ROA. Future research should explore additional factors influencing these relationships, including regulatory policies and macroeconomic conditions.
