Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the factors that determine the value of mahr in Muslim societies. The analysis is based on an ordinary least squares (OLS) regression with pooled cross-section data from the last three waves of the Indonesian Family Life Surveys (IFLS). The main finding is that socioeconomic status in the forms of groom’s ownership of assets and education level matters most for the value of mahr. This finding holds for regression with full sample as well as subsamples, i.e. couples whose groom is Javanese, couples whose groom is non-Javanese, couples whose bride is Javanese and couples whose bride is non-Javanese. Socioeconomic status in the form of bride’s education level also matters for the value of mahr with some exceptions. The other finding is that perceived probability of divorce as represented by differences in the socioeconomic status of a marrying couple do not have a significant effect on the value of mahr. The effect of physical appearances in the form of bride’s height is at best not robust and subject to the sample or subsample included. These findings can be useful as a reference to make marriage decisions in the future or to evaluate the ongoing practices for possible reforms.

Abstract

Islam teaches its disciples to pray for happiness in the world and the hereafter. Indonesia, as the largest Muslim population in the world, can be a sample of how the context of Muslim happiness applied. This study aims to determine factors that affect Muslim’s individual happiness in Indonesia. The data was obtained from wave 5 of the Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS). It was then analyzed using the Ordinary Least Squares model. This study proves that all variables including religiosity, health, education, marital status, and income have a positive and significant effect on Muslim’s happiness level. The intensity of shalat (prayer) and religious affiliations have a positive and significant effect but the result is not necessarily robust. The frequency of attending taklim/ pengajian (mass religious gathering) does not influence the happiness level. This finding confirms that if all basic maslahah have been met, then a Muslim will be closer to achieving the presumed happiness.

Abstract

Abstract: Currently, the distribution of zakat is usually carried out consumptively to meet the basic needs of mustahiq (zakat recipient). Consumptive zakat provides a short-term effect and a dependency effect for asnaf (mustahiq). Therefore, zakat institutions can begin to develop sustainable productive zakat schemes for the welfare of mustahiq. The research aims to design a program and implementation model for Indonesia’s Asnaf Entrepreneurship Program (AEP). This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive-analytical methods through literature studies. The AEP program is aimed for asnaf, who meets the criteria of people in need and people experiencing poverty but have the capability to run a bussiness, both physically and mentally. Furthermore, the asnaf are given business assistance by zakat institutions. Assistance can be in the form of a capital loan with a qardh contract,  while business assistance can be in the form of consulting, training, and monitoring to achieve a profitable and sustainable business. AEP is implemented using the concept of collaborative management. Several zakat institutions may build an AEP compartment to support AEP applications. Mustahiq also can create a community based on the type of business or place of residence. AEP implementation may be challenging but has potential, not only for the benefit of asnaf but also for its multiplier effect on the Indonesian economy.

Abstract

This study examines what waqf knowledge and trust influence waqif's intentions to donate to the livestock sector. Extending the Theory of Planned Behavior, this research adopts a quantitative approach. Data was collected through online questionnaires for respondents who had previously donated waqf. This research utilizes Smart-PLS version 4 along with Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modelling. The findings of this research indicate that subjective norms, attitude toward behavior, trust, and knowledge about waqf significantly affect the intention to perform waqf specifically for the livestock sector. Meanwhile, perceived behavioral control shows the opposite result. In addition, trust and waqf knowledge are the variables with the most significant influence on waqf intentions. This research provides insight to waqf regulators and nazhir who have a particular waqf program for the livestock sector to continue to increase literacy and education about waqf and how it plays a role in maintaining national food security. This research also not only reinforces the importance of the waqf sector but also has implications for the livestock sector concerning sources of financing for breeders and efforts to utilize waqf land as grazing fields

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that influence the intention to adopt mobile banking in the Gerbangkertosusila Region. This type of research is a quantitative study using the population of the Gerbangkertosusila Region as a population. While the sample used was 385 respondents with a non-probability sampling method. Primary data obtained by distributing questionnaires online. Data analysis technique in this research is Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM). The findings in this study indicate that the variable perceived benefits, perceived easy to use, perceived risk, attitudes, and social influence significantly influence the intention to adopt mobile banking. Variable perceptions of usefulness, perceptions of convenience, attitudes, and social influence have a positive relationship while risk perception has a negative relationship with the intention to adopt mobile banking in the Gerbangkertosusila Region. This finding is expected to make Islamic banking policy makers understand the problem of intention to adopt mobile banking faced by their customers. This information will be useful in developing new policies or strategies to maximize the potential of mobile banking users in Indonesia, especially in the Gerbangkertosusila Region.

Abstract

Abstract

Halal literacy has not become an important thing for high school students. Even though high school students or teenagers, in the future, will be the main consumers of halal products in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to determine the Halal Literacy Index in high school students using the level of approval and the level of importance to be practiced. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach. The respondents studied were 334 high school students in Tasikmalaya, West Java. The results showed that high school students have a higher level of approval than the level of importance to practice. It was found that of all the items, the student's level of approval has an average of 4.327 so it falls into the "Agree" criteria towards the halal concept. While the level of importance to be practiced has an average of 3.047 so it falls into the "Neutral" criteria for the importance of practicing the concept of halal in everyday life. This shows that what is approved is not necessarily important to be practiced for high school students. AbstrakLiterasi halal belum menjadi hal yang penting bagi kalangan Siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas. Abstract

Islamic boarding schools as traditional Islamic educational institutions have an important role in building a healthy and sustainable halal ecosystem. Islamic boarding schools must also ensure that the supply chain from upstream and downstream is in accordance with Halal Supply Chain Management (HSCM). Several HSCM applications start from supplier selection, production processes, storage, to distribution to consumers. The aim of this research is to analyze the application of HSCM and propose an HSCM model in Islamic boarding schools. This research includes qualitative research. Data was collected using interview, observation and documentation techniques and then analyzed using an inductive approach. This research was conducted at the Al-Furqon Muhammadiyah Islamic Boarding School, Tasikmalaya, taking 12 respondents. Respondents were selected based on their relationship with HSCM in Islamic boarding schools, from Islamic boarding school managers, teachers, kitchen managers, to students. This research shows that the implementation of halal supply chain management at the Al Furqon Muhammadiyah Islamic Boarding School, Tasikmalaya Regency is quite good with restrictions and education for proper and halal consumption. Providing nutritionists and halal food as well as a halal warehouse are needed to build a halal ecosystem in Islamic boarding schools. Providing halal certified raw materials also needs to be considered. Apart from that, funding through productive waqf can also be done to support the halal ecosystem in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the factors influencing the intention to consume halal food and to assess its impact on physical well-being. The research is framed within the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), which includes constructs such as attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, religiosity, food safety, nutritional quality, and behavioral intention, along with their effects on individual physical well-being. The analysis employs Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). It is based on responses from 307 participants in Tasikmalaya, West Java. The main finding reveals that religiosity, food safety, and nutritional quality do not significantly influence a Muslim's choice to consume halal food. This implies that the behavior surrounding halal food consumption is not necessarily dependent on religious beliefs, food safety, or nutritional content. Nonetheless, halal food consumption behavior can substantially positively impact the physical well-being of Muslims. Public interest statements This research is important for society as it highlights the role of consuming halal food in promoting physical well-being. This finding is valuable for both consumers and food producers. It underscores the health benefits of consumers choosing halal food beyond religious reasons. For producers and policymakers, the research stresses the need to improve access to affordable halal food and promote its health benefits, potentially leading to healthier communities.
