Abstract

ABSTRACTIdentification of Morphological Characterisric of Citrus nobilis at Some Areas of Karo District,supervised by EVA SARTINI BAYU and LUTHFI A. M. SIREGAR. Karo district is one of thecentres of citrus production in north Sumatera that have verygood prospect and market potential in ourcountry and overseas, so we need to increase quantity, quality, and continuity. The objective of thisresearch is to identification of morphological characteristic of citrus at Karo district. This research welldone at December 2012 to February 2013 using purposive sampling method. Data obtained fom theinterviews irectly to farmers with some obsevationn on the parameters to be analyzed using thesoftware Minitab 16.The result of this research indicate that morphological characteristic of citrus at 3villages on 37 samples have different morphological characteristic. The higest genetic relationship atC9 and C14 in Kacinambun Village sample (99,89%) and the lowest genetic relationship at A1 and A2 inSuka Village sample (39,44%).Key word : citrus, identification, morphological.

Abstract

Paclobutrazol Application Study on Balance the Growth of Three Varieties of Peanuts(Arachis hypogaea L.). This study aimed to learn effect of paclobutrazol application ongrowth of three varieties of peanuts. The research was conducted at Tanjung Sari, Medan (±25 m above sea level) from June – October 2012 used randomized block design. The firstfactor was the paclobutrazol concentration with 4 level were 0, 100, 200 and 300 ppm and thesecond factor was three varieties were Gajah, Bima and Domba with 3 replication. Parameterwere plant length, number of productive branch, flowering time, harvest time, ginofornumber formed per sample, number of pod contains, seed weight per sample and weight of100 seeds. The results showed that paclobutrazol significant of plant length 7-9 week afterplant. Variety significant of plant length 2-9 weeks after plant, number of productive branchat 5-9 weeks after plant, flowering time, harvest time, ginofor number formed per sample,weight of 100 seeds, but not significant to number of pod contain and seed weight persample. Whereas, interaction between paclobutrazol and varieties only significant to reducenumber of empty pods.Keywords: peanuts, paclobutrazol, varieties

Abstract

The Effect of Cholchisine Consentration to Growth and Produduction Green Beans (Vignaradiata L.) supervised by EVA SARTINI BAYU and HASMAWI HASYIM. One of thebreeding program that can be used to developed new varieties by using breeding mutation thatusing by colchisine consentration. The experiment had been conducted at Tumpatan NibungBatangkuis, Deli Serdang, Sumatera Utara (± 25 metres asl) during March until Juny 2012nd byusing randomized block design that were K0 (0%); K1 (0,04 %); K2 (0,08); K3 (0,12%); K4(0,16%) and then continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The parameters weregermination percentage, plant height, leaf numbers, flower ages, weight of pods dry ,number ofpods containing, number of seeds in each pods and 100 seeds weight. The result showed thatapplication colchisin significantly effected on growths: plant height and number of leafs, andalso production parameters such as: flower ages, weight of pods dry, number of pods containing,and number of seeds in each pods.Keywords: green beans, cholchisine

Abstract

The objectives of this research was to produce the large seed size of several black soybean varietiesselected based on seed size. The research was conducted on Pasar 1 Tanjung Sari, District MedanSelayang, Medan with a height of ± 25 meter above sea levelon. It was started on Februari until Mei2013 by using Split Plot Design of Two Factors which are varieties and seed size with 4replications. Varieties was researched are Detam1, Detam2, Cikuray and Mallika. The seed sizewas researched are large seed size and small seed size. The result showed that Mallika varietiesshowed the best growth on plant height (34,85 cm) and number of branches on main branches (4,33branches ). The highest production is Detam1 (32,65 g) in production per plant parameter. Theplants from the large seed size showed the best growth on plant height (31,91 cm) and number ofbranches (3,88 branches). The plants from the small seed size produced more medium seed sizewith range 41.92 % - 58.88 %. The plants from the large seed size produced more medium seed sizewith range 41.07 % - 51.55 % except on Detam 2 which from the large seed size produced morelarge seed size. Interaction between varieties and seed size that showed the best growth is oninteraction between Detam 2 varieties with large seed size (V2U2) on plant height parameter (20,35cm). interaction between Detam 1 with small seed size (V1U1) showed the best productioncompare with the others on production per plot (535 g).Key words : black soybean, varieties, seed size

Abstract

Deli tobacco is one of the leading agricultural commodity in North Sumatera . Water availablity andorganic material is very important aspect that influence quality of tobacco leaf. For that purposethis research aimed to know response growth and yield of Deli tobacco by giving vermicompost onwater treatments. This research was conducted in Green House of Agricalture Faculty University ofnorth sumatera in November 2013 – January 2014 using a randomized block design with twofactors and three replications. The first factor is vermicompost giving (control, 10%, 20% and30%). The second factor is water treatments (100%, 75%, 50% and 25%). Parameter observed wereplant height, numbers of leaf, stem of diameter, long leaves sand, 1 foot long leaves,leaf widthsand, 1 foot wide leaves, thick leaf sand, 1 foot thick leaves, summarize of leaf area, greennes ofleaf, root length, plant dry weight, water use efficiency.The results showed that vermicompostgiving significantly effect stem of diameter 18 days after transplanting. Water treatments showsincreasing effect stem of diameter 46 days after transplanting, long leaves sand, leaf width sand,thick leaf sand and water use efficiency.Keywords : vermicompost, water treatments, Deli tobacco

Abstract

This research aimed were to study the growth and the production of deli tobacco with the additionsome kind of nitrogen fertilizer on 30 days after planted. This research was conducted in the land ofPT. Perkebunan Nusantara II (PTPN II) located in Kebun Klumpang, ±25 meter asl, in September-November 2013. This experiment in factorial based on randomized blok design with two factorsand three replication, consite of nitrogen fertilizer (0, 10 gram/plant Zwavelzure Amonium,15.6 gram/plant Calcium Amonium Nitrat, 5 gram/plant Zwavelzure Amonium + 8 gram/plantCalcium Amonium Nitrat) and double spacing planting distance (100x50x45 cm, 100x50x40 cm,100x50x35 cm). The parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves perplant, wet weight of leaf, length of leaf party Z, length of leaf party VA, width of leaf party Z, widthof leaf party VA, thickness of leaf party Z, thickness of leaf party VA. The results showed that thenarrow spacing plant has significant decrease parameters of plant height, stem diameter, the numberof leaf per plant and all production traits. The addition of nitrogen fertilizer significant increase allof the parameters except thickness of leaf party Z and thickness of leaf party VA. Interactionbetween plant spacing and addition of nitrogen fertilizer (100x50x45 cm + 10 gram ZA) showedsignificant effect of the width of leaf party Z on N1J0 (24,46 cm).Keywords: nitrogen fertilizer, deli tobacco, spacing planting distance.

Abstract

The objective of research was to identify morphological characteristics and phylogenetic relationships of ginger at Simalungun District, Dolok Saribu village of Dolok Pardamea. The research was conducted from July to September 2014 by using descriptive method consists of 15 samples. The result showed that there were two types of ginger : large white ginger and red ginger. The qualitative character were five identical and five different morphological characters and the quantitative character was obtained four narrow and six wide morphological characters. The closest phylogenetic relationships are samples A4 (large white ginger) with A9 (large white ginger) with coefficient of distance value is 2.723, meanwhile the farthest phylogenetic relationships are samples A1 (large white ginger) with A11 (red ginger) with coefficient of distance value is 36.598. The result of dendogram showed at scale 5 was formed 10 groups, scale 10 was formed 5 groups, scale 15 was formed 4 groups, scale 20 was formed 3 groups and scale 25 was formed 2 groups. Group 1 consists of large white ginger and group 2 consists of red ginger. Phylogenetic relationships between ginger plants at Dolok Saribu village of Simalungun District still have a close level relationships.Keywords : Identification, ginger, morphology

Abstract

The aim of the research was to determine the proper medium for micro shoot induction of rubber plant from the nodes explants of diffrent genotypes. The research was conducted at the rubber plant Micocutting Laboratory PT. Perkebunan Nusantara III Kebun Gunung Pamela, Tebing Tinggi, North Sumatera, Indonesia. The research began from September to December 2014. the completely randomized design was used with twenty four treathments and five replications. The result showed that the genotype and diffrent composition medium gave significantly diffrent on percent of explant forming shoot. Meanwhile, for parameter life explant the genotype and diffrent composition medium no significantly diffrent.Keywords: rubber, micro shoot, genotype, in vitro medium

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan di lahan percobaan  Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sumatera Utara yang berada ± 25 m dpl mulai Mei sampai Agustus 2015. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui kemampuan pupuk hayati dan tepung cangkang telur dalam meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman kedelai. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan 2 faktor perlakuan. Faktor pertama adalah pemberian pupuk hayati yaitu 0 ; 5 dan 10 g/kg benih dan faktor kedua tepung cangkang telur yaitu 0 ; 25 ;  50 dan  75 g/polibeg. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pupuk hayati meningkatkan jumlah dan berat bintil akar efektif dan bobot biji kering per tanaman. Sedangkan perlakuan tepung cangkang telur nyata dalam meningkatkan jumlah dan bobot bintil akar efektif. Sedangkan interaksi antara pupuk hayati dan  tepung cangkang telur cenderung meningkatkan jumlah dan berat bintil akar efektif dan bobot biji kering per tanaman

Abstract

Kedelai merupakan komoditas pangan penting karena banyak dibutuhkan untuk bahan pangan, pakan ternak dan industri. Kebutuhan kedelai mencapai 2 juta ton, sedangkan produksi hanya 1,2 jt ton. Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan tersebut dilakukan usaha intensifikasi dan ekstensifikasi. Usaha ekstensifikasi dengan memanfaatkan tanah-tanah marginal. Salah satu tanah marginal adalah tanah salin. Di indonesia diperkirakan luas lahan salin 440.300 ha. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi  karakter pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman  kedelai hasil persilangan pada tanah salin. Penelitian ini dilakukan di rumah plastik buatan dalam rumah kasa Fakultas Pertanian USU (± 25 meter dpl) pada bulan April  sampai bulan Agustus  2015. Benih F2 diperoleh dari penelitian sebelumnya dengan menggunakan benih hasil persilangan varietas anjasmoro dengan genotipa kedelai tahan salin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa untuk karakter tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah cabang, umur berbunga, jumlah polong berisi, jumlah polong hampa, bobot biji, jumlah biji, dan umur panen tidak bersidtribusi normal, memiliki tingkat segregasi yang tinggi dengan adanya pengaruh gen aditif epistasis dan masih dipengaruhi oleh banyak gen.
