Abstract

Research on title the utility inventarization fungus which was caused diseases on leaf Roystoneaelata Bartr. in Medan city garden. The research aim to know and to inventary fungus that causedleaf Roystonea elata Bartr. diseases in Medan city garden. The research conducted at Laboratory ofPlant Pathology Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatera with altitude ±25 m asl. Thisresearch used survey method. The Result of this research showed that fungus caused leaf Roystoneaelata Bartr. diseases which in A. Yani garden’s and G. Abstract

Fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cubense (E.F.Smith) Synd. & Hans.) (Foc) on banana(Musa spp.) and its related with Radopholus similis in the Field. This research aims to knowrelationships between R. similis with fusarium wilt in the field. This research was conducted byusing survey method. Samples were taken from Kampung Susuk, Pancing and Sari Rejo in Medandistrict. Tanjung Slamat and Sibiru-biru in Deli Serdang district. Marjanji Pisang, Mekarsari andSimpang Raya in Simalungun district. The result showed that the highest disease incident found atSibiru-biru village Deli Serdang districk (64.45%), R.similis populations was 28,7 and the numberof fusarium propaguls was 354. Meanhwile, the lowest disease incident found at Simpang RayaSimalingun district (10%), R.similis populations was 7,4 and the number of fusarium propagulswas 82. Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cubense has positive corelation with R.similis in fields.Keywords: Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cubense, Radopholus similis, banana

Abstract

Research Survey of integrated pest management fruit flyBactroceraspp on cytrus in threesubdistrict’s of Karo’s regency.The aim of this research was to find out relation between integratedpest management with the number of fruit flies imago, damage percentage and production of orangein three Karo regency. This research had been conducted at farmer field Simpang Empat, BarusJahe dan Tiga Panah, Kabupaten Karo pada May - September 2013 using survey method bycorrelation quantitative analyze rank Spearman. The result showed that the number of orange fruitflies had a significant corelation with damage percentage of fruit flies (rxy= 0,733), and integrated pestmanagement was not have the significant corelation with damage percentage (rx1y= 0,256) but had asignificant corelation with production of cytrus in Karo (rx1y1= 0,464). The highest number ofBactrocera spp imago were showed in Tiga Panah with 71,07 imago number and the lowest wereshowed in Barus Jahe with 23,76 imago number. The highest damage percentage were inTiga Panah 14,27% and the lowest damage percentage were in Barus Jahe 5,89%. The best orangeproduction were in Barus Jahe with 14,05 ton/ha/year, and the lowest production were inTiga Panah with 10,05ton/ha/year.Keywords: Cytrus, Bactrocera spp dan IPM.

Abstract

The objectives of the research were to study the effect of the number host C. sacchariphagus andsex ratio of C. flavipes on the progeny produced. The research was held at the Laboratory ofSugarcane Research and Development Sei Semayang, Binjai, Medan, North Sumatera from Julyuntil September 2013. This method used Randomized Complete Design Factorial with two factors.The first factor was sex ratio of C. flavipes (1 male:1 female, 1 male:2 females, 1 male:3 females, 2males:2 females, 2 males:3 females) and the second factor was number of C. sacchariphagus (5 and10 larvae) with three replications. The results showed that the number of larvae ofC. sacchariphagus and sex ratio of C. flavipes significantly effected on the sex ratio of progenyproduced. The highest percentage (58.67%) of the number of host C. sacchariphaguon 5 larvae andthe lowest (36.00%) on 10 larvae. The highest sex ratio (1:2.5) on 1 male:1 female and lowest(1:0.6) on 2 males:3 females. Abstract

The objective of the research was to test antagonism ability of endophytic fungi to control C. oryzaeand C. lunata in laboratory. This research was conducted in Plant Disease Laboratory,Agroecotechnology Program Study, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara, Medan(± 25 m asl) from November 2013 until February 2014. The method used was RandomizedComplete Design with two factors in 3 replications. The first factor was the pathogens (C. oryzaeand C. lunata) and the second factor was the endophytic fungi (Penicillium sp., Trichoderma spp.,Aspergillus sp1., Trichocladium sp., Aspergillus sp2. and Nigrospora sp.). Parameters observedwere inhibiting zone, width of inhibiting zone, diameter of pathogen colony and growth width ofpathogen colony. The results of this research showed that the pathogens, the endophytic fungi andinteraction between them affected significantly to the inhibiting zone, width of inhibiting zone,diameter of pathogen colony and growth width of pathogen colony . The good result to controlC. oryzae was showed on P1E2 (C. oryzae + Trichoderma spp.) with 67,56% andP1E5 (C. oryzae + Aspergillus sp2.) with 67,52% and to control C. lunata on P2E1(C. lunata + Penicillium sp.) with 70,10% in inhibiting zone.Key words: C. oryzae, C. lunata, endophytic fungi, rice

Abstract

Using of endophytic fungi to control Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. capsici and Alternaria solani invitro. This research aimed to know efectivity of endophytic fungi to control F. oxysporum f.sp.capsici and A. solani in vitro. This research was conducted on Plant Disease Laboratory, Faculty ofAgriculture, University of North Sumatera, used Randomized Complete Design with two factors intwo replicates. First factor was kind of pathogen (F. oxysporum f.sp. capsici and A.solani). Secondfactor was kind of endophytic (E1, E2, E3, E4, E5, E6, E7, E8, E9, E10, E11, E12, E13, E14 andE15). The result showed that kind of phatogen, kind of endophytic and interaction between them sosignificantly effect on inhibiting zone, growth width of colony and diameter of colony. The bestresult was showed on E6 and E3 to control F. oxysporum and A. solani with 56.89% and 54.10 %inhibiting zone.Key words: endophytic fungi, F.oxysporum, A. solani.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effetiviness of Botanical termiticide tuba root (Derris elliptica(Roxb) Benth) and citronella (Cymbopogon nardus L) of mortality of termites (Coptotermescurvinagthus Holmgren) in laboratory. This method uses Randomized Complete Design with twofactor : the first factor was concentration of termiticide (Control, Soluble of tuba root 200 g/ L water,Soluble of tuba root 300 g/ L water, Soluble of tuba root 200 g / L water, Soluble of citronella 300 g / Lwater, Soluble of citronella of 200 g / L water) and second factors was application technique (feedingand spraying).The result showed that concentration and application technique of termiticidesignificantly effected the mortality of termites. The highest mortality (83,86%) on soluble of tuba root300 gr / water and the lowest ( 0 %) on control. Mortality of termites on feeding application (66,77%)was higher than spraying application (56.86%)Keywords: Botanical Termiticides , Coptotermes Curvinagthus Holmgren, Mortality

Abstract

This research aims to know antagonism of saprophytic and endophytic fungi against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubens in Laboratory. The research was conducted at Plant Disease Laboratory, Agroecotechnology Program Study, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara Medan from May to September 2014. It was done by using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) non factorial with seventeen treatments and three replications. The results showed all the saprophytic fungi (Gliocladium sp. and Acrostalagmus sp.) and endophytic fungi (Cephalosporium sp,. Pullularia sp., Aspergillus sp., Penicilium sp., Trichoderma sp. and Hormiscium sp.) potential as biological agents to control F. oxysporum f. sp. cubens in vitro. The best results obtained on Pullularia sp. with the ability to inhibit 60.577%. Interactions between saprophytic and endophytic fungi against F. oxysporum f. sp. cubens causing the hyphae of F. oxysporum f. sp. cubens malformations and lysis.Keywords: banana, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubens, saprophytic fungi, endophytic fungi, nnninteraction

Abstract

This research aims to know the efective height and type of trap which is most attack H. hampei in the field. The research was held at Pearung village, Sub-district Paranginan, District Humbang Hasundutan, North Sumatera from September until October 2014. The method used Randomized Block Design with two factors and three replications. The first factor was height of trap (1.0 ; 1.2 ; 1.4 ; 1.6 and 1.8 m) and the second factor was the type of trap (single funnel trap, multiple funnel trap, and mineral bottle). The results showed that the best trap was 1.2 m + multiple funnel trap, and the highest symptom percentage was 1.0 m + single funnel trap.Keywords : height, trapping, Hypothenemus hampei Ferr.

Abstract

Encapsulation of Some Trichoderma sp. on Soybean Seed to Control Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. The research aimed was to get species of Trichoderma which mixed alginat or tapioca encapsulated soybean seed to inhibiting S. rolfsii. This research was conducted in Laboratory of Plant Disease, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara, use Randomized Block Design 3 factors and sixteen treatments : alginate, tapioca, alginate + S. rolfsii, tapioca + S. rolfsii, alginate + T. harzianum, tapioca + T. harzianum, alginate + T. koningii, tapioca + T. koningii, alginate + T. viridae, tapioca + T. viridae, alginate + T. harzianum + S. rolfsii, tapioca + T. harzianum + S. rolfsii, alginate + T. koningii + S. rolfsii, tapioca + T. koningii + S. rolfsii, alginate + T. viridae + S . rolfsii, tapioca + T. viridae + S. rolfsi, respectively with four replications. The result showed that all of Trichoderma sp. isolates which mixed alginat or tapioca have high viability in inhibiting S. rolfsii. All of Trichoderma isolates enabled to reduce damping off on soybean seed. The treatments alginate + T. harzianum + S. rolfsii, tapioca + T. harzianum + S. rolfsii, alginate + T. koningii + S. rolfsii have high viability in inhibiting damping off by 100 % and followed tapioca + T. viridae + S. rolfsi and alginate + T. viridae + S . rolfsii (75%) and tapioca + T. koningii + S. rolfsii (50%).Key words: encapsulated, damping off, Sclerotium rolfsii, Trichoderma sp.
