Abstract

Tujuan penelitian dan pengembangan ini adalah mengembangkan modul Trigonometri bercirikan open-ended problem yang dapat mendukung mahasiswa berpikir tingkat tinggi dengan kriteria kualitas valid, praktis, dan efektif. Penelitian dan pengembangan ini mengadaptasi model 4D oleh Thiagarajan, dkk yang terdiri dari tiga tahap, yaitu pendefinisian (define), perancangan (design), dan pengembangan (develop). Subjek uji coba dalam penelitian dan pengembangan ini adalah mahasiswa semester gasal 2016/2017. Modul, instrumen (lembar observasi aktivitas mahasiswa dan lembar angket respon mahasiswa), dan RPP yang dikembangkan telah memenuhi kriteria valid. Modul ini juga memenuhi kriteria praktis yang ditunjukkan oleh: (1) hasil pengamatan aktivitas mahasiswa yang memenuhi kategori sangat baik, dan (2) mahasiswa memberikan respon positif terhadap pembelajaran dengan menggunakan modul Trigonometri bercirikan open-ended problem. Modul ini memenuhi kriteria efektif yang ditunjukkan oleh peningkatan hasil tes observasi awal dan tes setelah uji coba modul. Kata Kunci: pengembangan, modul trigonometri, open-ended problem

Abstract

Representasi simbol melibatkan metonymy dan metaphor. Metonymy sebagai rantai penanda, dalam hal ini simbol, sedangkan metaphor sebagai pemaknaan dari penanda (simbol). Metonymy dan metaphor saling terkait dan terlibat dalam sistem penyimbolan saat seseorang menemukan simbol baru dalam proses pembelajaran matematika. Mahasiswa Teknik Sipil banyak menemukan simbol baru dalam perkuliahan Kalkulus II, seperti simbol fungsi dua variabel atau lebih beserta turunannya. Simbol-simbol tersebut tentunya berbeda dengan simbol fungsi satu variabel dan turunannya yang telah dipelajari pada Kalkulus I semester sebelumnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan mahasiswa Teknik Sipil dalam merepresentasikan simbol sebagai metonymy dan metaphor melalui penyelesaian masalah Turunan Parsial. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian studi kasus, sebagai salah satu upaya untuk mendeteksi kesulitan mahasiswa dalam belajar Turunan Parsial. Mahasiswa diberi worksheet berisi masalah Turunan Parsial yang difokuskan pada representasi simbol sebagai metonymy dan metaphor. Hasil penyelesaian masalah pada worksheet dianalisis berdasarkan representasi simbol turunan parsial baik dari notasinya maupun makna dari notasi. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah bahwa mahasiswa Teknik Sipil kurang mampu dalam merepresentasikan simbol turunan parsial fungsi f terhadap x maupun y. Mahasiswa mampu menentukan selesaian akhir turunan parsial dengan benar, namun kurang baik dalam penandaan simbol turunan parsial.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to analyze the digital literacy of students in using the GUI Matlab learning media and understanding the concept of set in junior high school students through digital literacy using the GUI Matlab. To answer these problems using a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were five students of class VII tutoring. The research instruments used in this study were a test, an interview, and a questionnaire. Data are analyzed by reducing data, presenting narrative data, and concluding results. The results of this study show that the digital literacy of students in using GUI Matlab learning media is excellent. Besides, 80% of students can determine the members of the set correctly, 80% of students can determine the empty set correctly, 100% students can draw Venn diagrams correctly, determine the set of complements correctly, and determine the subset.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the level of understanding the concept and critical thinking in resolving trigonometric equations using graphs. Tests and interviews were conducted to search for data and study more in the ability to understand the concepts and critical thinking skills that students have in resolving trigonometric equations using graphs. The test given to the students is a test of the explanation with the subject of his research is a class XI student. The subject selection of six students is based on the category of ability and daily replay value of the student in trigonometric materials. The six students are each ? two students of high, medium and low categories. The results showed that the ability level of understanding students ' concepts in determining the set of solving trigonomic equations using graphs, gained students understanding the concept of high and moderate levels. Students with a high level of understanding are able to fulfill all indicators ? an indicator of concept comprehension. Students with the level of understanding of concepts are also meeting the indicators of understanding the concept but less appropriate, which has not been able to identify the properties of a concept. Students are also less able to classify objects based on the requirements that make up the concept. The level of students ' critical thinking ability to determine the set of solving trigonomic equations using graphs obtained by the subject of students critical thinking moderate and low levels. Students with critical thinking levels are not yet able to meet interpretation indicators, i.e. students have not been able to understand and write the answer to the problem given. Students with critical thinking levels are also underprivileged to meet critical indicators of inference. Students with critical thinking levels are less able to draw conclusions, i.e. less capable of providing the right reasons for student work. Students with critical thinking levels are low, not yet capable of meeting critical thinking indicators in determining the set solving trigonometric equations using graphs. Students have not been able to meet all indicators of critical thinking ability.

Abstract

This research was to describe students? mathematical communication skills based on their learning styles. This research was a descriptive research with qualitative approach. Data was obtained in three steps, namely written test on SLETV material, questionnaire on learning styles, and interviews. Research subject was eighth grade students. The procedure in this research began with the pre-field stage. At this stage, the research was designed, starting from observation and interviews with the teacher, as well as discussion with the supervisor. The second was the field stage, which was the stage for conducting research. The final stage was writing the report, which was the stage where researchers have conducted the research, processed and analyzed data that has been obtained from the research. Data collection techniques in this research were distributing questionnaire, giving test questions about SLETV, and conducting interviews to find out the students? mathematical communicationskills more specifically. The instruments in this study were questionnaire onlearning styles, test questions about SLETV, and interview guide sheets. Dataanalysis techniques in this research aimed to achieve data reduction by sorting out important answers from student results in the form of questionnaire, test, and interviews. Data presentation was in the form of narrative texts. Interviews were aligned with the test questions about SLETV. Finally, conclusions were formulated by describing each student?s written mathematical skill based on the 4 student learning styles. Based on the results, students with interpersonal learning style had the ability to learn better through friendship, students with self-expressive learning style had the ability to learn by paying more attention to the final results and tended to use unusual ways to find the best results, students with understanding learning style had the ability to see facts and remember large amounts of knowledge, ideas, theories, or concepts, while students with mastery learning style were able to write to the point and focus more on results.

Abstract

Abstrak : Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini sebagai peningkatan soft dan hard skill siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK). Peserta kegiatan ini adalah siswa SMK. Upaya yang dilakukan untuk meningkatkan soft dan hard skill siswa meliputi pelatihan public speaking, workshop desain web, dan kompetisi presentasi website. Kegiatan public speaking dilaksanakan dengan pemaparan materi komunikasi dan percaya diri, serta tanya jawab dengan peserta. Pada kegiatan workshop desain web peserta diberi modul tentang membuat web menggunakan html, php, dan weebly. Pada akhir workshop, siswa diberi tugas membuat web dengan tema online shop. Kegiatan kompetisi presentasi website diperoleh 2 web terbaik yaitu roulaskripik.weebly.com dan barudotcom.000webhostapp.com. Siswa mampu berkomunikasi dengan baik dan percaya diri berdasarkan presentasi hasil website. Siswa juga menjalankan online shop kripik talas melalui website yang dibuat.Abstract : The purpose of this activity is to improve the soft and hard skills of Vocational High School students. Participants in this activity are vocational students. Efforts made to improve student’s soft and hard skills include public speaking training, web design workshops, and website presentation competitions. Public speaking activities were carried out by presenting communication and confidence materials, as well as question and answer sessions with participants. In the web design workshop participants were given a module about creating a web using html, php, and weebly. At the end of the workshop, students were given the task of creating a web with an online shop theme. Website presentation competition activities were obtained by the best 2 webs, namely roulaskripik.weebly.com and barudotcom.000webhostapp.com. Students are able to communicate well and confidently based on the presentation of website results. Students also run an online shop for taro chips through the website created.

Abstract

Symbol sense is crucial in the understanding of mathematical problems comprising various symbols. The misuses of symbols happen due to misinterpretation, which is considered the constraint to learn algebra more comprehensively, including in linear programming. The term ‘metaphor’ is defined as a means to carry over symbol sense, and is used to improve mathematical understanding. This present research was aimed at analyzing errors on mathematical symbol as a metaphor in linear programming. This research was conducted by means of descriptive qualitative design, with a test and interview as the instruments. The test was made essay, and its results were analyzed qualitatively. The test, further, was administered to five eleventh graders selected according to highest rates of errors committed. This research has shown that the students committed a number of errors in some cases, such as representing symbols as variables, representing numbers, and interpreting symbols as relational operators. In addition, errors which the students committed in constructing mathematical models covered defining the final value, representing numbers, applying inequality system, and interpreting symbols as operation counts. This present research has provided some ways for symbol sense, and thus the errors on mathematical symbol as a metaphor could be lessened. Next, this research can be further followed up by reviewing the effectiveness of remedial instruction according to the committed errors on mathematical symbols.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan representasi simbolik mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan HOTS. Penelitian merupaka  kualitatif deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan dokumentasi dan tes. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 9 mahasiswa yang dipilih berdasarkan hasil pengerjaan Lembar Kegiatan Mahasiswa (LKM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesalahan representasi simbolik yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa terdiri dari (1) kesalahan penulisan simbol turunan parsial, (2) kesalahan dalam menentukan hasil turunan parsial, (3) kesalahan dalam menentukan nilai fungsi turunan parsial, dan (4)  kesalahan dalam memahami perintah soal. Kesalahan-kesalahan representasi simbolik tersebut terjadi karena beberapa faktor yaitu kurangnya pemahaman terhadap simbol – simbol turunan parsial, ketidaktelitian dalam menyelesaikan soal, tidak memperhatikan dan memahami perintah soal dengan baik, tidak teliti dalam menuliskan jawaban akhir, tidak memahami konsep turunan parsial dengan baik, dan tidak memahami konsep dalam menentukan nilai fungsi dengan baik. AbstractThe purpose of this study is to describe the symbolic misrepresentation of students in solving HOTS problems. Research is a qualitative descriptive. Data collection is done by documentation and tests. The research subjects consisted of 9 students selected based on the results of the Student Activity Sheet (LKM). The results showed that the symbolic error made by students consisted of (1) writing errors of partial derivative symbols, (2) errors in determining the results of partial derivatives, (3) errors in determining the value of partial derivative functions, and (4) errors in understanding command matter. The errors of symbolic representation occur due to several factors, namely the lack of understanding of partial derivative symbols, inaccuracy in solving problems, not paying attention and understanding the order of questions properly, not careful in writing the final answer, not understanding the concept of partial derivatives well, and do not understand the concept of determining the value of a function properly.
