The expansion of internationalization has challenged education advancement in 21th century which is not only at Islamic higher education level but also at the Islamic primary education sphere. For preparing young learners to engage in the dynamics of internationalization, some Islamic primary schools competitively share new horizons on integrating sciences, humanism and spiritual values that adapt salaf models of pesantren and global ideas. Therefore, this article, in a qualitative research, exemplifies the social phenomena on how to construct new paradigm of glocalization for the evolvement andperpetuation of Islamic primary educational institution in Indonesia. Collected by observations, interviews and documentations, it is concluded that glocalization can be employed as the panacea for society’s needs in which local wisdom can take its portions in curriculum that inserts multiple intelligence and Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) and provide academic agendas of primary instructional classroom.

Abstract

This study examines students’ interactions with the teacher’s feedback in an online course on paragraph writing at higher education in Indonesia. The instructional moves, interactional approach, and students’ perceived usefulness of the feedback were investigated. Through a discourse analysis framework, 355 comments on discussion posts from five students in four meetings were analyzed. The Learning Analytics (LA) data correlated with semi-structured interviews were employed to obtain the students’ perceived usefulness of teacher feedback for revision. The semi-structured interview was done with six students. The findings revealed that the teacher enacted fifteen moves to handle social interaction in online feedback from directive to dialogic categories. These moves are employed to create knowledge-building and solidarity for pedagogical and interactional goals, particularly. These are shown by the relation between LA and the students’ perceptions of the feedback for writing revision. Therefore, such findings highlight the (de)merits of directive-dialogic interactions in online written feedback and LA data to improve teaching and learning.

Abstract

The aim of the current research was to explore how the lecturer uses neurolinguistic programming (NPL) to maximize the students' potential when creating thesis proposals. This study poses two research questions: 1) What challenges do students have when writing their thesis proposals? and 2) How may NLP communication help students write their thesis proposals. A case study design that was employed in this study. Open-ended questionnaire was distributed to the students of English education department. The results of this study firstly highlight that the students’ difficulties in writing involved their lack of knowledge, psychological aspect and both of them. ability in writing skills, understanding contents, motivation. Another finding showed that the NLP communication in the form of teachers’ affirmations can bring the positive influence on the student’s perspectives and attitudes to write their proposal.  This study concludes that teachers can establish a more encouraging and productive learning environment by using ideas from positive psychology and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP).

Abstract

This research aims to develop an interactive grammar assessment tool utilizing the Socrative platform for eleventh-grade students at MAN 2 Kota Kediri. The instruments used for data collection included a grammar test, validated by experts to ensure content validity, note taking for expert feedback. The Research and Development (R&D) method was employed, grounded in Borg and Gall’s (1983) model and Harris’s (1969) test construction approach, the study followed systematic phases including needs analysis, test design, expert validation, field testing, and item analysis, for its interactive and student-centered nature, which aligns with Deci and Ryan’s (2000) Self-Determination Theory. The developed test consisted of 25 multiple-choice grammar questions delivered via the Socrative platform. Validation results showed that 18 items (72%) were valid, meeting the threshold recommended by Crocker and Algina (2006) for early-stage field use. The reliability of the instrument was high, with a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0.882. Item analysis revealed that most items had acceptable discrimination power, while the difficulty index showed a predominance of easy items, indicating the need for more balanced test content. The interactive nature of the Socrative platform allows for immediate feedback, fostering student engagement and enhancing grammar comprehension. Additionally, the findings support the use of digital tools like Socrative to create valid, reliable, and engaging language assessments for EFL learners in secondary education.

This study aims to explore how Engoo can potentially be utilized in EFL learning to teach speaking skills and find out teachers’ voices on its perceived usefulness in an online context. Observations in online learning classrooms and interviews with the five teachers in two English course institutions were conducted to collect the data. The results of this study show that Engoo serves as an effective platform for teaching EFL speaking skills that consists of information in the forms of written text, pictures, and audio. This platform can be a resourceful material to teach speaking for the students across level. Additionally, the majority of the teachers had positive impressions and experiences towards the use of Engoo for their EFL instructions. Abstract

Socrative as one of educational technologies provides the students an ease to learn language through reading activities. They can practice reading on screen as the students in global era have commonly familiarized with. However, the teacher can apply certain reading strategies for students’ understandings on materials when trying to integrate technology for reading. Thus, this research proposes to investigate the effectiveness of Socrative and Moodle in reading classrooms that employ Kow-Want to Know-Learned (KWL) strategy. By using causal comparative study, seventy students of English Department at one of Islamic state universities in East Java Indonesia who are in the third semester are divided into intervention and control groups. The previous group is directed to read by using Moodle and do quiz with Socrative, while the latter read and do the quiz in Moodle. Here, KWL strategy is integrated with both technologies. The results of study exemplify that there is no significance difference between the students in the intervention and the control group. However, the mean scores of posttest on the intervention group increased better than the control group.
