Abstract

This study was conducted to see the implementation of environmentally sustainable city development policies which are one of the pillars in the program of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) 2030 where local government is placed as the main actor. For the ASEAN regional level, the regional commitments of Regions for the development of environmentally sustainable cities are depicted in the ASEAN Socio-Culture Community Blueprint 2025. The review of this implementation aspect is aimed at identifying developments and challenges faced in the strategic policy of  the Palembang City Government as the main implementing actor towards environmentally sustainable cities in the long term, with the Australia- Palembang Project related the procurement of clean water and sanitation as a case study. In line with these objectives, this study uses qualitative research methods that are exploratory and descriptive in nature, where the depth and context of the data are important. This research results in the finding that the government of Palembang has been considered as an institution that has clear political objectives fully committed in the practice of city diplomacy to involve themselves directly even though it is limited to international cooperation through policy, and balanced communication between government agencies and AUS AID (as an international donor). The City Government is no longer seen as the object of implementing program plans formulated at the central level, but also has the opportunity to formulate a strategic plan or (bottom up) procedure based on the needs of local communities and the suitability of the model with environmentally sustainable city development.

Abstract

The decision to make Bangka Belitung a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), a tourism destination, has raised the possibility of the emergence of the threat of trafficking. In general, the people of Belitung, especially the residents of Batu Ita Village, are aware of the presence and threat of human trafficking in the Belitung area. Trafficking in persons in the region became increasingly troubling when new media helped strengthen trafficking networks in the form of prostitution. The incident was realized by village officials who worked as teachers in high schools on average. This makes the service team from the International Relations Study Program (HI), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI) more confident to aid the Belitung area, especially Batu Itam Village. Through outreach activities, Group discussion forums (FGDs), and evaluations with Pre-tests and Post-Tests, the Results of these Activities show that the community is enthusiastic about learning a lot about trafficking and ways to overcome it. The community also agreed to be given full assistance from the government and the University.

Abstract

Cultivation of food crops should be done on suitable land based on the results of the soil suitability assessment. The Soil Suitability Assessment Framework was initiated by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Today, smartphones have become a ubiquitous technology for solving problems in most environments, including: Assessment of soil suitability for food crops, plantations and many others. This white paper aims to address these benefits by transforming the framework into a mobile app. This solution aims to help land users conduct land valuations more effectively and efficiently. A rule-based system (RBS) algorithm is used to build the framework into a set of rules that are interconnected to draw land suitability conclusions. Regulations relate to annual rainfall, land topography, drainage, soil type, pH, flood risk, soil fertility, soil depth, etc. Only three of his food crops, sorghum, sweet potato, and sugarcane, will be evaluated in this study. Agroclimatic data governing crop suitability have evolved into generic and crop-specific criteria. An application that assesses land suitability for three food crops will be available on the Play Store for smartphones. Usability models were surveyed by 35 respondents who used the app. The user-friendliness of the app was evaluated as "very good."
