Abstract

Community empowerment begins with understanding that every individual and group has potential and abilities that can be developed. In Mamuju Regency, precisely in Tommo District, there is peat but it is small which if damaged and not managed properly will result in land fires, floods, and soil pollution. This assistance aims to position the community as a party that plays an active role in environmental recovery. One of the initial stages of assistance or empowerment activities carried out is Problem Identification and Situation Analysis. It is hoped that the problems faced can be clearly identified, the related situation can be analyzed comprehensively, and the next steps can be designed to plan effective and sustainable interventions. Strengthening the understanding of problem identification and location analysis is carried out using the IMAS tool through survey methods, interviews, and FGDs. The results of problem identification and situation analysis found several problems that can be used as references in formulating systematic and effective planning for community empowerment. Based on the results of the problem identification and situation analysis in Buana Sakti Village, Tamemongga Village, Tamejarra Village, West Leling Village and North Leling Village, problems were found in flooding, lack of fertilizer availability and the distance of the village from the city which makes it difficult to get fresh fish to meet the protein needs of the community. From the results of the problem identification and situation analysis, a Community Work Plan formulation was formed such as freshwater fish farming, long-term crop planting, horticultural planting, and livestock farming. The proposed work plan is expected to be able to help the community in meeting needs, improving the community's economy, and can answer problems that occur in each village.

Abstract

Conservation areas play a crucial role in maintaining biodiversity, but often have an impact on communities that depend on forest resources for their livelihoods. Understanding the interaction of communities with the environment and the role of forest resources in meeting cultural and physical needs is essential. This study aims to identify the types of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) utilized by communities in the Traditional Zone of Gandang Dewata National Park (TNGD) and explore how biodiversity can be an asset in improving welfare through a conservation partnership scheme. This study was conducted in Mambulilling Village, Mamasa Regency, using a qualitative method involving focus group discussions (FGDs) in the format, interviews, literature reviews, and field observations using the exploration method. The results of the study indicate that NTFPs have important economic and cultural values for the community. The identification results show that the types of plants utilized include Bamboo, Damar, Rattan, Honey Bees, Orchids, Pitcher Plants, and various medicinal plants such as Cinnamon, Wind Root, Ant Nest, and Spinach so that they can be a foundation for strengthening more inclusive conservation partnerships. This finding confirms that towards a conservation partnership, there is a need for First, strengthening cultivation practice skills to maintain the sustainability of the species being utilized. Second, product development and diversification to increase the economic value of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) with the support of technology and science. Third, developing value chains and market certainty so that community income is more stable by involving various parties, including village governments, TNGD managers, academics, and market players. Keywords: conservation, HHBK, local communities, national parks, partnerships. Abstract

Strengthening social bonding within forest farmer group institutions is essential for the sustainability of community-based forest management. This study aims to formulate strategies for strengthening social bonding by identifying its driving and restraining factors. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and expert assessments. The analysis integrated Force Field Analysis (FFA) to map drivers and barriers, and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), based one expert Assessments, to prioritize these factors. The results show that leadership legitimacy, a culture of mutual cooperation, conservation awareness, active participation, and strong social networks are the main driving factors. Prominent constraints include leadership centralization, unequal member contributions, undocumented norms, technical capacity gaps, and limited external networks. Strengthening strategies include leadership distribution, reinforcement of collective activities, documentation of norms and values, enhancement of technical capacity, and expansion of external networks. These findings provide an evidence-based framework for strengthening social capital and supporting the institutional sustainability of forest farmer groups.
