Abstract

The widespread use of social media by Indonesians has both positive and negative impacts. In addition, to making it easier for us to find information and reading sources, the use of social media also leaves negative impacts such as hate speech behavior that occurs on social media. One of the things that are thought to be correlated with hate speech behavior is emotional maturity. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between emotional maturity and hate speech behavior on social media towards political issues in Indonesia. The method used in this research is correlational quantitative, and using purposive sampling to select the subjects. Subjects of research were 205 person. In measuring the emotional maturity of this study using a Likert scale and hate speech behavior using a vignette scale. Data were analyzed using by the person product moment analysis technique. The results were that there was a negative relationship between the two variables with a significance value of<0.001 and a correlation coefficient value of -0.313, which means that the higher the emotional maturity of a person, the lower the level of hate speech behavior will be, and vice versa.

The performance of student organizations is a crucial variable in maintaining their existence and achieving their organizational goals. One of the important factors that influence this is the degree of sense of community of the members of the organization. Sexism as a gender prejudice is considered to have the potential to influence aspects of the sense of community and organizational performance. This study aims to examine sexism as a moderator on the relationship between sense of community and organizational performance. This study uses a quantitative method and determines the subject using a random sampling technique to the members of student organizations with a total of 223 subjects. The measuring instrument used is Sense of Community version 2, The Ambivalent of Sexism Inventory, and an Organizational Performance Scale. Data analysis used the method of moderated regression analysis. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between sense of community and organizational performance, and sexism as a moderator variable had an insignificant value on the relationship between sense of community and organizational performance.   Keywords: Organizational performance, sense of community, sexism, university student

Abstract

Critical awareness has recently become a widely studied topic in the intellectual, social and educational scientific community. The concept that was coined by the Brazilian critical educator is considered important because it covers a crucial aspect of consciousness that is often forgotten. Researches that seek to increase critical awareness have begun to be carried out, but they are not supported by a standardized measurement instrument. This causes the validity of the research results to be questioned. It is only in the last five years that efforts to construct critical awareness instruments have received attention. This study will construct a critical awareness scale for the Indonesian population called the Socio-Political Awareness Scale for Indonesian (SPASI). The scale refers to the concept of critical consciousness proposed by Paulo Freire and refined by modern researchers such as Watts, Diemer, and Christensen. Three aspects of critical awareness used in this scale include Social-Dominance, Critical Reflection and Socio-Political Action. The results of the analysis show that the eleven items on the SPASI scale have reliability and validity scores that meet the requirements. Keywords: critical consciousness, Paulo Freire, scale construction

Abstract

The problems experienced by Indonesian migrant workers are very diverse, such as employment problems, neglect and so on. This can trigger anxiety so that handling efforts such as relaxation are needed. This study aims to test the effectiveness of relaxation in reducing anxiety levels in Indonesian migrant workers at the Shelter of the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. This study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental research design in the form of a one-group pretest-posttest design that measured adaptation to the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21). The population in this study were all PMIs with moderate to high levels of anxiety who were at the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, which were obtained using a purposive sampling technique. The data that has been obtained from the field is then processed by JASPO.16 (Jeffreys' Amazing Statistics Program) using Wilcoxon signed-rank test analysis. The results of this study indicate that the hypothesis is rejected, namely relaxation is not effective in reducing anxiety for Indonesian Migrant Workers who are in Shelters at the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, as seen from a probability of 0,098 (p > 0,05). The rank-biserial correlation (rB) as an effect size with a value of 1.000  > 0.5 indicates a large effect size. This research is a reference for the Indonesian Embassy in Malaysia in dealing with anxiety problems that are often experienced by PMI in Malaysia. Keywords: Anxiety, Indonesian migrant workers, relaxation
