Abstract

Brunei Revolution in 1962 despite of its small scale is an important event which lead to an international conflict occurred in the region in years next. As its international historical context, the issue about who is the most responsible for triggering it remain in debate. The Sultan of Brunei is one of untouchable party who can be also viewed from this perspective. His reluctance and unresponsive attitude; decision to seize the people's democracy; and arrogance in Malaysia's case, left all interested parties gaining momentum to pressure him to decide. The Brunei People Party (PRB) became one of the parties who tried to do it, with its often-neglected aspirations for national independence, supported by the people, sympathetic neighbours, and left-leaning nations at the time. This failed rebellion also resemble a symbol of relatively untouchable people of monarch which absent from historical critics regarding its powerful position in the modern politics.

Abstract

The international crisis as the Covid-19 global health emergency has emphasized the need to strengthen social values such as empathy. Meanwhile, online learning during the pandemic created new challenges for teachers in instilling social values and norms, including in history subjects. This study aims to develop an evaluation instrument for historical learning oriented toward cultivating historical empathy. Using the CIPP framework from Stufflebeam, academics (lecturers) and education practitioners (teachers) developed a set of questionnaires and tested them on 259 high school students in Bandung. Some conclusions that can be drawn include (1) the existing instruments are acceptable based on standard factor analysis and Cronbach’s alpha >0.7; (2) teachers tend not to include the element of empathy in learning history; (3) the context (C) and process (P) aspects of history learning based on historical empathy are still low compared to the input (I) and product (P) aspects.

Abstract

Pengelolaan sampah plastik merupakan isu lingkungan yang mendesak di kawasan perkotaan seperti Kota Bogor. Meski kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pengelolaan sampah terus meningkat, berbagai kendala teknis dan keterbatasan sumber daya manusia masih menjadi tantangan utama. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, manajemen kooperatif berbasis komunitas diterapkan sebagai pendekatan strategis guna mendukung pengelolaan sampah yang lebih efisien dan berkelanjutan. Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), yang didukung oleh DRTPM Kemendikbud, bermitra dengan Kelompok Kepemudaan RW 12 Pancasan Baru untuk meningkatkan kapasitas teknis dan sumber daya manusia. Program ini mencakup pelatihan, workshop, dan pendampingan masyarakat dalam mengolah sampah plastik menjadi produk bernilai ekonomis melalui daur ulang, didukung oleh hibah berupa mesin pencacah plastik dan teknologi sederhana lainnya. Hasil program menunjukkan peningkatan kesadaran lingkungan, persepsi positif terhadap peluang kerja di sektor daur ulang, serta kontribusi signifikan terhadap konservasi sumber daya alam melalui penerapan ekonomi sirkular. Selain itu, masyarakat diberikan opsi untuk menukarkan sampah plastik dengan kebutuhan rumah tangga atau membayar biaya pengumpulan sampah, sehingga memperkuat sistem pengelolaan yang berkelanjutan. Evaluasi program melalui wawancara dan angket menegaskan pentingnya kolaborasi antara masyarakat, pengepul sampah, dan pemerintah setempat dalam menciptakan sistem pengelolaan sampah yang efisien, bernilai ekonomi, dan ramah lingkungan.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kebutuhan meningkatkan kompetensi guru sejarah dalam menerapkan Kurikulum Merdeka, yang mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai karakter dan pembelajaran berbasis proyek. Studi ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru sejarah dalam menyusun dan menerapkan modul Project Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5) sesuai dengan prinsip-prinsip Kurikulum Merdeka. Metode: Kegiatan ini dilakukan secara daring oleh 120 peserta dan luring oleh 40 peserta. Hasil: Adanya peningkatan pemahaman guru sejarah mengenai penyusunan modul Project Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5), dengan lebih dari 90% peserta menunjukkan kepuasan tinggi dan kesiapan menerapkan materi yang diajarkan. Kesimpulan: Pelatihan ini dapat meningkatkan kompetensi guru, mendorong kolaborasi, dan menghasilkan modul pembelajaran yang relevan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji apakah terdapat hubungan korelasional yang signifikan antara komponen manajemen kelas—disiplin, organisasi pelajaran, interaksi selama pelajaran, kapasitas interpersonal, dan ikatan sosial—dengan kapabilitas literasi digital. Instrumen berisi 50 butir dengan enam subskala dikembangkan dan diadaptasi dari studi terkait yang ada, sementara 30 guru pemula (yang belum mengambil program profesi guru) di 29 SMA di Kota Bandung, Indonesia, terlibat dalam studi survei menggunakan kuesioner daring. Data dianalisis menggunakan korelasi bivariat serta regresi berganda. Hasilnya menunjukkan adanya korelasi dan hubungan prediktif yang signifikan dari kapasitas interpersonal terhadap kapabilitas literasi digital (r = .611, B = 1.684).

Abstract

After two years of online learning, an evaluation is needed to assess whether the changes and adaptations in the process could achieve its objectives. Some adaptations had been done at UPI Laboratory School/s but no study has been conducted to assess its practice and success. Using the sequential exploratory mixed-method with the CIPP Stufflebeam model as a research framework, three teachers and 112 students from two UPI Laboratory Senior High Schools participated in this project. In-depth interviews were conducted with teachers, while online questionnaires were independently developed, validated, and distributed to students. It can be concluded that historical empathy in online learning at UPI Laboratory School/s; 1) is contextually appropriate to the conditions, resources, and needs of the institution and teachers but only part of the participants or students; 2) For Input section, aspects of the ability and capacity of teachers need to be improved; 3) As Process section, the teacher's workload and time constraints are the obstacles faced, and 4) in the Product section, the level of satisfaction among the participants varies with the theoretical aspects, dominating the practical outcomes of historical empathy-based learning. Overall, the learning program fulfilled the merit of being retained with some basic improvements.

Abstract

Human resources capacity building is a vital part of institutional development, especially in the educational field, such as the university. As an academic language, English skills are highly needed among lecturers to improve the quality of institutions in general. What is the effectiveness of an English preparation course for lecturers in an Indonesian university during the pandemic time? Using Stufflebeam's CIPP model, this study aims to measure the quality and make recommendations on what should be improved or changed from such activity. There were 25 participants, two tutors, and one program coordinator involved as an informant. An online questionnaire was administered, as well as an in-depth interview with the tutors, coordinator, and selected participants. The results show that (1) the context is suitable to the condition, resources, and needs of the institution as well as participants. (2) In the Input section, the curriculum and variations in learning methods need to be further developed. (3) In the process section, the obstacles faced were the lecturer's workload, which should be adjusted during the course to make them focus on the program. (4) In the product section, a high level of satisfaction was found among the participants, with an overall positive review of its merit. There is still room for improvement. One of them is to follow up on participants' progress after the program is ended. An evaluation sheet or survey should be administered after the program is finished to assess the quality of the tutors and participants' satisfaction with the training.

Abstract

The development of 21st-century education demands innovation in the learning process that not only focuses on mastering subject matter but also on fostering students’ creativity as a vital skill to face global challenges. However, in reality, students’ creativity in social studies learning is often not optimally developed due to the use of conventional teaching methods. This study aims to examine the implementation of project-based learning at SMP Negeri 1 Sinjai, describe students’ creativity in social studies subjects, and analyze the effect of project-based learning on enhancing students’ creativity in social studies. This research employed a quantitative approach with an ex-post facto design. The variables consisted of project-based learning (X) and students’ creativity (Y). Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation, while data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistics with the assistance of SPSS 25. The results indicate that project-based learning is implemented at a “very high” level, characterized by decision-making centrality, focus on driving questions, constructive investigations, autonomy, and realism. Furthermore, students’ creativity in social studies is also categorized as “very high,” with indicators including fluency, flexibility, originality, elaboration, and sensitivity. Additionally, there is a positive and significant effect of project-based learning on students’ creativity, with a correlation coefficient of 0.725 categorized as “strong.” These findings confirm that the implementation of project-based learning is effective in enhancing students’ creativity in social studies.

Abstract

Background: Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh perubahan dalam kebijakan pendidikan nasional pasca penerapan pendekatan pembelajaran mendalam (deep learning) pada Kurikulum Merdeka. Guru sebagai pelaksana lapangan kebijakan ini membutuhkan pelatihan dan pendampingan kembali guna meningkatkan kompetensi pengajaran, salah satunya melalui model Project-Based Learning (PjBL) dalam mata pelajaran Sejarah. Tujuan program pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan pemahaman dan peningkatan kemampuan guru sejarah dalam menerapkan model PjBL guna mendukung implementasi pembelajaran mendalam di kelas. Metode: Pendekatan partisipatif melalui pelatihan, workshop, dan pendampingan guru sejarah SMA dan SMK dengan mode hybrid (luring dan daring) dilaksanakan kepada sebanyak 40 guru dalam sesi luring dan 75 guru terlibat dalam sesi daring, bekerja sama dengan MGMP Sejarah Kota dan Kabupaten Bogor. Tahapan meliputi penguatan konseptual, perancangan modul ajar berbasis PjBL, implementasi simulasi kelas, serta evaluasi luaran berupa modul dan publikasi. Hasil: Pelatihan berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman guru sejarah mengenai konsep pembelajaran mendalam serta bagaimana implementasinya dalam pembelajaran sehari-hari. Penyusunan modul sederhana sebagai gambaran pemahaman dilaksanakan dengan tingkat keberhasilan mencapai lebih dari 80%. Secara program, partisipasi guru melebihi target dengan tingkat kepuasan tinggi, yakni lebih dari 90%, serta kesiapan menerapkan materi yang diajarkan. Kesimpulan: Program pengabdian ini efektif dalam memberikan penguatan kompetensi guru melalui integrasi pembelajaran mendalam dan PjBL. Model ini terbukti relevan dan efektif untuk mendukung implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka serta memfasilitasi transformasi pembelajaran sejarah yang lebih kontekstual, kolaboratif, dan inovatif.
