Abstract

Idealism in literary studies often confronted with other interests embedded within the study. In addition to beautiful, literature must have utility for the people who enjoy it in the form of works, among which is a form of (prose) and the film (screenplay and theater). Either in the form of a novel (prose) or in the form of a film, idealism is not to be found entirely because there are some considerations due to the interests attached to them. These considerations include, first, the sensor associated with the norms that exist in people's lives in Indonesia, and secondly, related to the interests of owners of capital to finance the cost of production of the idealistic work to be conveyed to the public audience. Censorship in the film and the work done through the use of language of the author. This is done because the language in the works are an expression of the author as Lacan statement in the theory of subjectivity. In this paper, idealism within Djenar Maesa Ayu (DMA) as the author of the novel Nayla as well as a screenwriter and film director Nay is also expressed through the language of metaphor and metonymy are loaded in order to avoid censorship. The use of metaphor and metonymy that do DMA also consider the norms as reflected in Indonesian society.

Abstract

This research aims to describe Wendy B Faris' forms of magical realism in the novel Mustika Zakar Celeng by Adia Puja, including 1) irreducible magical elements, 2) phenomenal world, 3) unsettling doubts, 4) incorporation of nature, 5) disruption of space, time, and identity, and 6) magical realism narrative in the novel Mustika Zakar Celeng. The research approach used in this study is a qualitative approach with descriptive method. The data source used, namely the novel Mustika Zakar Celeng by Adia Puja with data in the form of words, phrases, sentences, and paragraphs relevant to the research focus. The data collection techniques used in this research are listening and recording techniques. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used is hermeneutic technique. Based on the results of the research, it shows that the novel Mustika Zakar Celeng contains five elements of magical realism, including 1) five data of irreducible elements, 2) three data of phenomenal world, 3) two data of unsettling doubts, 4) three data of world merging, and 5) four data of interference with time, space, and identity. The relationship between the five elements can be seen in the characters of Kang Kopral, Tobor, and Ki Ama Hudlan as real characters who interact with the Queen of Siluman Celeng as a magical character. Abstract

Wini Afiati's children's novel The Mystery of the Disappearance of the Turtle on Venu Island tells the story of a family who has just moved to the town of Kaiman, West Papua. The area is close to Venu Island. Venu Island is where the father character works as a marine conservation supervisor. However, there is an unexpected phenomenon, turtles that should be protected are stolen by a group of people. This study aims to describe (1) the causes of damage to the physical environment, (2) the human bond with the physical environment, and (3) the values of ecological wisdom in the children's novel Misteri Hilangnya Penyu di Pulai Venu by Wini Afiati. These objectives are closely related to Greg Garrard's concept of ecocriticism. The type of research used in this study is qualitative research with descriptive method. The data collection technique used in this research is reading and note-taking technique. The data analysis technique used is hermeutics. The hermeutic technique focuses on the text objectively. The results of this study are the causes of damage to the physical setting of the environment caused by irresponsible humans, human bonds that care about the surrounding environment, and ecological wisdom created in society.Keywords: ecocriticism, damage, bonding, wisdom, ecological.

Abstract

Keberadaan perempuan menjadi semakin rentan dalam kondisi alam dan kehidupan sosial. Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh eprempuan dan alam sering kali diselesaikan melalui kritikan.. Akan tetapi, penyelesaian masalah perempuan dan alam melalui karya sastra adalah pendekatan yang baru di Indonesia. Hal tersebut menjadi tujuan peneliti untuk mengkaji hubungan perempuan dan alam dalam novel Mata di Tanah Melus dan Mata dan Rahasia Pulau Gapi karya Okky Madasari dengan teori ekofeminisme Vandana Shiva dan Mary Mies. Metode penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan baca catat dan dianalisis menggunakan teknik hermeneutika. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Mata di Tanah Melus dan Mata dan Rahasia Pulau Gapi karya Okky Madasari. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa novel Mata di Tanah Melus memiliki kajian tentang relasi perempuan dan alam, defensif perempuan terhadap alam, serta kritik perempuan terhadap kerusakan alam, sedangkan novel Mata dan Rahasia Pulau Gapi hanya tidak memiliki pengetahuan tentang kritik perempuan terhadap kerusakan alam.

Abstract

This research is a literary criticism that sees women as readers or observers of Indonesian films in the pandemic era in 2020-2022. This study aims to find out how women are constructed and how the role of women in Indonesian films in the pandemic era. This research is classified as qualitative descriptive research with literature method as a data collection technique. And the content analysis method as a data analysis technique with steps including creating data tables, classifying data based on problem formulations and analyzing data based on research interpretation. The results of this study show that women obtain oppression constructed in forms of injustice that include marginalization, subordination, stereotypes, physical and non-physical violence and workload caused by the culture that has developed in society. Meanwhile, the role of women is played with an image adapted to the culture that has existed before, namely women who are only aware of the oppression carried out by the ruling class and hesitate to fight back. Keywords: Image, role, woman, pandemic era

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to describe the main character values that are the priority of the Strengthening Character Education (PPK) movement in Gesta Bayuadhy's historical novels, namely Ranggalawe: Mendung di Langit Majapahit and Mahapatih Nambi: Percik Api di Jantung Majapahit. The approach used is semioeducational based on the semiotic theory of Charles Sanders Peirce. This type of research is qualitative which focuses on the presentation of data in a narrative manner. In collecting data using library techniques, reading, and taking notes. The data analysis technique was carried out using a semioeducational approach through reading the historical novel by Gesta Bayuadhy in a heuristic and hermeneutic way. The semioeducational approach is carried out to interpret education, in the form of the main character values through Peirce's semiotic signs, namely representamen, object, and interpretant. The results showed that the main values of religious, nationalist, integrity, independent, and mutual cooperation characters with variants that are built through representamen, objects, and interpretants in the historical novel by Gesta Bayuadhy. Bahasa Indonesia Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai utama karakter yang menjadi prioritas gerakan Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter (PPK) dalam novel sejarah karya Gesta Bayuadhy, yakni Ranggalawe: Mendung di Langit Majapahit dan Mahapatih Nambi: Percik Api di Jantung Majapahit. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah semioedukasi dengan berpedoman pada teori semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce. Penelitian ini berjenis kualitatif yang berfokus pada pemaparan data secara naratif. Dalam pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik pustaka, baca, dan catat. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan semioedukasi melalui pembacaan novel sejarah karya Gesta Bayuadhy secara heuristik dan hermeneutik. Pendekatan semioedukasi dilakukan guna menafsirkan edukasi, berupa nilai utama karakter melalui tanda semiotika Peirce, yakni representamen, object, dan interpretant. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya nilai utama karakter religius, nasionalis, integritas, mandiri, dan gotong royong dengan berbagai variannya yang dibangun melalui representamen, object, dan interpretant dalam novel sejarah karya Gesta Bayuadhy.

Abstract

Human survival depends heavily on environmental sustainability. If the ecosystem is disturbed, the welfare of human life will also be disturbed. Nature is a bridge for writers and writers of literary works to convey the atmosphere, image, setting, or major themes that exist in literary works. Three novels by Okky Madasari are one of the children's novels in which there are events about the environment that are interesting to study. The importance of this research is to find out the environmental crimes that exist in the three novels. This type of research is a qualitative research. The data collection technique in this research is in the form of library technique. From the research results, three environmental problems are found in the three novels by Okky Madasari, namely poaching, hunting for rare animals and exploitation of the ocean. In the novel, the author not only shows various environmental crime phenomena, but is accompanied by the resolution of every environmental problem, whether it is carried out by the main character or not. Through these novels, it also appears that literary works also have a role in environmental conservation efforts.

Abstract

Homoseksualitas merupakan orientasi seksual penyuka sesama jenis yang dianggap suatu penyimpangan bagi masyarakat. Akibatnya, kaum homoseksual seringkali mendapat diskriminasi berupa penolakan, penindasan, dan perundungan di masyarakat sehingga mereka sering menyembunyikan identitasnya agar tetap dipandang normal. Teori Queer Butler menyangkal pandangan negatif tersebut dengan memperjuangkan hak-hak kaum homoseksual dengan memberikan pandangan bahwa identitas, gender, dan jenis kelamin bersifat tidak tetap, melainkan sebagai sesuatu yang dibentuk dari serangkaian tindakan (performatif) yang dilakukan berulang-ulang. Penulisan ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan performativitas homoseksual dalam novel Sekong! Karya Stebby Julionatan. Novel ini menceritakan tentang kompleksitas identitas gender dan tekanan sosial para tokoh dalam cerita. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif metode deskriptif. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa narasi atau kalimat-kalimat dari novel Sekong! Karya Stebby Julionatan. Pengumpulan data penelitian ini menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data baca-catat. Analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis hermeneutika. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya performativitas penampilan dan fisik kaum homoseksual berupa perhatian dalam menjaga penampilan, performativitas perbincangan seksual berupa kesadaran dan pengakuan dari percakapan yang dilakukan antar tokoh, dan performativitas seksual berupa angan-angan dan aktivitas seksual lainnya. Melalui performativitas-performativitas tersebut mengafirmasi gagasan bahwa setiap orang memiliki kebebasan untuk mengontruksi dan mengekspresikan identitasnya di luar batas-batas norma yang membelenggu.
