Abstract

The global consulting firm is urged to undergo a digital transformation trend driven by Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), enabling the automation of complex tasks and enhancing decision-making, which overlaps with traditional consulting services. This study examines the impact of Generative AI on the global consulting firm by analyzing macro trends of Generative AI and the core competencies of the global consulting firm, inviting business owners from several industries and Generative AI consultants for interviews. Adopting a qualitative method, this research generates a SWOT analysis and proposes an adaptation strategy for the global consulting firm. Findings reveal that Generative AI can automate some tasks, such as analytics, but cannot fully replace traditional consulting due to functional limitations. Challenges—including data security, unstandardized processes, and workforce resistance—hinder adoption, which means it cannot substitute traditional consulting services immediately. The global consulting firm should leverage its strengths—AI expertise, global partnerships, and comprehensive service—to support client challenges as business opportunities.

Abstract

This study highlights the gap between formal performance development values and hierarchical work culture in emerging market FMCG companies, specifically in PT MNO, Indonesia. This qualitative research proposes a reward-integrated Performance Development System (PDS) that aligns with agile transformation goals and cultural realities. Data from in-depth interviews, surveys, HR documents, and performance reports indicate that the existing PDS is ambiguous, disconnected from career development, bureaucratic, and inconsistent with rewards. Cultural aspirations such as agility and autonomy are hampered by high power distance and collectivist norms, reducing clarity and trust.  Therefore, a new PDS model that is culturally responsive and behaviorally aligned is developed. The model includes shared goal setting, continuous feedback, transparent communication of performance and reward expectations, and competency-based achievement tied to financial incentives and career mobility. This approach is expected to increase employee engagement, fairness, system adoption, and alignment with business agility. This study makes a significant contribution as the first adaptive PDS blueprint that integrates a transparent dual-track reward mechanism while bridging the barriers of hierarchical culture with agile performance demands in emerging markets. It offers practical guidance for HR leaders and transformation architects.

Abstract

This research examines the effectiveness and impact of RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) certification on sustainability practices in the palm oil industry, focusing on PT XYZ as a case study. As a downstream company utilizing the RSPO Supply Chain Certification with the Mass Balance model, PT XYZ sources Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO) and Certified Sustainable Palm Kernel Oil (CSPKO) from growers, aiming to align its business operations with global sustainability standards. The research analyzes the extent to which RSPO certification has promoted sustainable practices, contributed to environmental protection, and supported business growth within the context of Indonesia’s palm oil sector. The findings indicate that RSPO certification has enabled PT XYZ to enhance supply chain transparency, access premium international markets, and support the broader adoption of sustainable palm oil. Industry wide evidence shows RSPO certified supply chains contribute to reduced greenhouse gas emissions, improved peatland conservation, and lower fire risk. However, challenges remain regarding full traceability and the inclusion of smallholders. The study concludes that while RSPO certification is an effective mechanism for advancing sustainability in the palm oil industry, continuous improvement, stakeholder collaboration, and enhanced transparency are essential for maximizing its impact.

Abstract

PT Victory Terminal Merak, a subsidiary of a global storage tank provider headquartered in the Netherlands, has played an important role in supporting Indonesia’s trade and energy infrastructure through its terminal operations in Merak region. For the past 5 years, the company has been facing challenges caused by the global pandemic (COVID-19) and the subsequent global economic downturn triggered by geopolitical tensions and inflations. These external factors have immensely affected operational efficiency, customer retention, and revenue performance. Despite positive growth projections in the Asia Pacific oil and gas storage market, PT Victory Terminal Merak has not been able to fully leverage these opportunities due to outdated commercial strategies and a centralized decision-making structure from the regional office in Singapore. This thesis explores the underlying factors contributing to the terminal’s declining competitiveness, focusing on its sales, and marketing approach, which has not been pacing with evolving customer expectations and local market dynamics. Drawing on a combination of qualitative insights and quantitative findings, this research identifies key internal inefficiencies and external market pressures while introducing a revised commercial direction tailored to the Indonesian context, emphasizing customer-centric practices, greater operational agility, and a cultural shift toward continuous improvement.

Abstract

In recent decades, the world has faced increasing socio-environmental risks due to record-breaking global temperatures driven by climate change. These impacts, ranging from extreme weather, prolonged droughts, and biodiversity loss to food insecurity, displacement, and economic disruption, are expected to intensify without effective mitigation. One response is the landscape approach, promoting multi-stakeholder collaboration to balance commodity production, forest conservation, sustainable livelihoods, and community well-being. This study examines the successes, challenges, and lessons from Phase 1 (2021–2025) of the Riau Landscape Program by Earthworm Foundation and provides strategic recommendations to strengthen Phase 2 (2026–2030). Using a qualitative case study approach including semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, and document review, the study identifies four key themes influencing implementation: program design and delivery, institutional and policy support, multi-stakeholder engagement, and internal governance and capacity. Applying the Five E’s Framework for effective landscape implementation, the study proposes five strategic recommendations: (1) evaluating progress and learning from Phase 1, (2) strengthening governance by clarifying roles and improving systems, (3) adopting adaptive, phased approaches, (4) engaging stakeholders to scale impact and align with policy, and (5) fostering dynamic processes with risk management and iterative learning. The study also highlights future research opportunities, including assessing landscape approach impacts on corporate supply chains and exploring innovative financing mechanisms such as blended finance, green bonds, and carbon credits within the Indonesian context. These findings contribute to the advancement of integrated landscape approaches that align environmental sustainability with inclusive economic development.

Abstract

The growing importance of global competition force companies not merely to sustain productivity and financial growth and plan for long-term competitiveness. Therefore, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, which guide companies in incorporating sustainability into their business practices, play a      pivotal role in navigating the complexities of sustainable operations. Effective ESG performance evaluation is crucial in resolving business concerns. Accordingly, this research aims to analyze the most suitable approach to materializing and addressing ESG issues in corporate strategies. The proposed research methodology combines qualitative and quantitative analyses, including interviews, thematic analysis, and the analytical hierarchy process (AHP). The findings reveal that the Integrated Approach is the most effective strategy, with a weight of 24.1%, comprehensively balancing environmental, social, and governance priorities. The Stakeholder-Based Approach is also considered important, with a weight of 23.8%, emphasizing stakeholder engagement and collaboration. Meanwhile, the Compliance-Based Approach and the Opportunity-Based Approach exhibit lower effectiveness. This research contributes to a profound understanding of ESG performance evaluation, implementation strategies, and the role of sustainability in driving long-term business success while positively contributing to the environment and society. The limitations of the research and directions for future research are also discussed.
