Abstract

The objective of this research is to examine the implementation of the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, and Create) learning model in enhancing students' critical thinking skills in social studies. A descriptive analysis was conducted to compare the pretest and posttest results between the experimental and control groups, focusing on students' critical thinking abilities. The data presented in Table 1 show that in the experimental group, the pretest score was 50.87 and the posttest score was 87.13, resulting in a difference of 36.26. In the control group, the pretest score was 50.20 and the posttest score was 85.73, yielding a difference of 35.53. These results indicate a significant improvement in the average critical thinking skills of students in both groups, with a slightly higher increase observed in the experimental group. Therefore, it can be concluded that the application of the RADEC model is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills in social studies.

Abstract

Globalization has become a phenomenon that dominates the world today, bringing significant changes in various aspects of social, economic and political life throughout the world. One of the impacts that was felt was a shift in awareness of defending the country among the younger generation, including students at the National Development Elementary School. In this study, we explore the influence of globalization on national defense awareness and the role of students in building it. The methodology used in this study is descriptive qualitative, which involves in-depth analysis of the observed phenomena. Through a literature review, we investigate various perspectives on the impact of globalization on national defense awareness, including changes in national values and identity, dependence on other countries, the influence of media and technology, changes in consumption patterns, and challenges to state sovereignty. The results of the analysis show that globalization has complex and varied impacts depending on a country's political, social and cultural context. In the midst of these changes, the citizenship education paradigm in elementary schools plays an important role in building a strong awareness of defending the country. Civic education not only focuses on teaching state doctrine, but also promotes critical, analytical thinking, and a deep understanding of civic values that go beyond the boundaries of doctrine. Students, as potential agents of change in society, have a key role in building awareness of defending the country. Through education, active participation and use of technology, they can become a driving force in strengthening awareness of defending the country amidst the challenges of globalization. Students' contributions are not only limited to the use of weapons, but also through dedication in their profession and active participation in citizenship education. This research underlines the importance of understanding the impact of globalization, updating the paradigm of citizenship education, and empowering students' role in building a strong and relevant national defense awareness in globalization era.

Abstract

This article discusses a comparison of leadership in the context of good and less good schools. The principal's leadership style basically means a manifestation of the behavior of a school principal, which concerns his ability to lead the school. Elementary Schools (SD) are of course part of basic educational institutions to instill values, attitudes and aesthetics so that quality leaders are needed with the right leadership style. Leadership style influences a person's success in the school he leads, especially in influencing the behavior of his subordinates and success is much influenced by leadership style. School principals should provide work instructions to teachers so that carrying out their work becomes easier. Leadership in educational institutions is very important to achieve goals. academics and student character development. However, leadership in good schools, elementary school A and less good elementary school B, has differences in leadership style. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews with the leaders of good schools at Sdn A and less good Sdn B. Data analysis was carried out using the thematic analysis method. The results of the research show that leadership in good schools, Sdn A, is more focused on achieving academic targets, while leadership in less good schools, Sdn B, on the other hand, is not focused on achieving academic targets or anything else. In the context of educational development in Indonesia, this research can provide insight and understanding of the differences in leadership in two different types of educational institutions. It is hoped that the results of this research can provide guidance for school leaders in improving the quality of leadership and educational development in Indonesia. Every leader has a leadership style that is different from one leader to another. Furthermore, try to avoid reprimanding in public if a teacher makes a mistake in their work and continue to guide teachers so that they are more comfortable at work. Apart from that, we should improve and maintain patterns that have been good so far and increase the values ??of a positive leadership style in order to increase achievement motivation and at the same time improve teacher performance.

The current condition of the COVID-19 pandemic has made the economy mostly experience a setback, also experienced by partners, namely the Mulyadi family in Padang Buan, Medan City, not far from the Medan State Polytechnic. Mulayadi, who owns a grocery business selling basic necessities, was forced to close the business because of the declining number of buyers, including due to competition between the same businesses. Next the partners think what to do then turn around and start the table carpenter business. With conventional tools such as hand planers, hand saws, manual chisels and manual painting, partners make wooden tables, and sell them quickly to coffee shops in Padang Bulan around USU. With the help of his son, he tried to offer his wooden table through social media and it turned out that there was a request from the community. As demand from buyers increases, partners find it difficult to meet buyers and are constrained by increasing their business in making wooden tables because they require modern equipment such as electric planers, electric saws, electric drills, compressors, and painting gun units, and partners do not have the money to buy tools. the tool. This was conveyed to the Polmed lecturer to ask for help providing these tools. Then the implementation team carries out a survey, evaluating needs that can improve the work of partners, so that the implementation team of this service aims to help provide carpentry tools and provide training on the use of tools properly and safely. Then the service implementation team made a submission to Polmed through P3M and carried out a service program by handing over tools or machines in the form of 2 electric planers, 1 electric saw, 1 electric drill, compressor and painting gun unit. At the time of delivery, partners said that with manual equipment made of wooden tables as many as 1-2 tables per week, then with the availability of tools provided by Polmed through the chief executive, they could make 4-5 tables per week with more aesthetic ones, and therefore partners' opinions became increase.
