Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the role of teacher pedagogical competence in developing students' social skills in social science learning. To achieve this goal, the method used is the study of literature describing the social skills of elementary students based on several experts and based on supporting reference studies. The focus of the discussion in this study is on social skills and teacher pedagogical competencies . Social skills are one of the skills students must possess. But in reality, there are still many problems related to the development of these social skills in schools, especially in social studies. This results in a low level of student social skills and a lack of teacher pedagogical competence in social studies learning at school. There are several ways that can be used by teachers in an effort to instill social skills in students. One of them is by integrating it with classroom learning activities. However, to carry out good social studies activities, teachers must also have good pedagogical competencies. so, social skills can be well taught to students and achieve learning goals

Abstract

A critical attitude is one of the scientific attitudes that students must have when studying science. The pandemic condition that requires students to study online is an obstacle for teachers in applying the nature of science as a whole. Practical videos can make it easier for students to understand learning materials and increase student learning motivation. This study aims to describe students' critical attitudes through practicum videos based on the RADEC model on the water cycle material. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. This research was conducted at El Fitra Elementary School, Antapani, Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The subjects of this study were 29 elementary school fifth grade students. This study uses three data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that a small number of students' critical attitudes emerged during learning through practicum videos based on the RADEC learning model. Based on the RADEC learning model, this practicum video makes students active in making hypotheses when carrying out science experiments. In addition, it can provide a meaningful experience when learning science, especially on water cycle material.

Pouring the content of the nature of science is not only the teacher's responsibility in learning, but also the nature of science must be included in the textbooks. There are three aspects/components of the nature of science that must fit in book's text readers, namely: (1) Products; (2) Process; and (3) Attitude. This research method uses descriptive research with content analysis. With the object of study, the thematic textbook document for the 2013 Class V Curriculum Integrated, Theme 6 is Heat and Its Transfer. The results showed that the nature of science was very well contained in the textbook, with a percentage of 100% on the aspects/components of Products and Processes and 55.5% on the parts elements factors characteristics/components of Attitude.

Abstract

The Industrial Revolution 4.0 related to technology and information brought changes to human lifestyles. This change immediately demands the world of education, especially students, to have more massive competencies. Some of these competencies include science, technology, critical thinking, creativity, and innovation, working together, communicating well, and having self-confidence. Not only students but also teachers are required to be creative and innovative, especially in teaching students in the school environment. The approach that can be used in teaching students according to the demands of the 4.0 era is the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) approach. The purpose of this study is to explain more broadly about STEM to science learning in the 4.0 era. This study uses a literature review study of relevant research results in the form of journals and articles related to STEM in science learning. This literature review will contribute as a reference and increase the insight of researchers and readers. In addition, this study is expected to open up new ideas for deeper research on STEM.

Abstract

Teacher competence is the ability of teachers consisting of personal, social, pedagogic, and professional abilities related to the profession they carry. This teacher competency is measured through a teacher certification program. Teacher certificates can be obtained in several ways, depending on the year the teacher was certified. This study aims to describe the competence of teachers who have been certified through professional teacher education and training, especially in learning natural sciences in primary schools. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. This method has three stages, namely: the description stage, the reduction stage, and the selection stage. The research data sources are seven teachers who have been certified through education and professional training for teachers. Data collection techniques used are documentation and observation. The research instrument used was a lesson plan document that had been made by the teacher and an observation sheet on the implementation of natural science learning carried out by the teacher in the classroom. The results of the study can show that teachers who are certified through professional teacher education and training have competence in making lesson plans and implementing natural science learning in the sufficient criteria. Therefore, this research can be used as a reference in maintaining the competence of certified teachers through professional teacher education and training by making lesson plans and assessing their abilities when carrying out classroom learning. The competence of certified teachers needs to be maintained regularly.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop IPAS teaching materials using the RADEC model based on metacognitive strategies to enhance critical and creative thinking skills among elementary school students. The research follows the Research & Development approach with the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The study involves 84 elementary school students in Surakarta. Data were collected through literature review, expert validation, pretests and posttests, observations, interviews, and documentation. Validation results confirmed that the developed book is valid and suitable for use in terms of content, language, and presentation. A paired sample T-test was conducted on the pretest and posttest results of critical and creative thinking skills for 84 student respondents. The t-test results indicated a significance value of 0.00<0.05 for both pretest and posttest scores of critical thinking skills and creative thinking skills. This suggests a significant difference in the average scores between the pretest and posttest, indicating the influence of the developed book on critical and creative thinking skills. The NGain test results for pretest and posttest scores of critical thinking skills were 70.9252, and for creative thinking skills, it was 70.9284. With these values, it can be concluded that the developed book falls into the category of being sufficiently effective in influencing the critical and creative thinking skills of students

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively analyze assessment practices, challenges, inhibiting factors, and strategies to improve learning evaluation in elementary schools. This study uses a Systematic Literature Review. Through this method, researchers collect, review, and analyze various written sources relevant to the topic of assessment and evaluation of learning in elementary schools. The primary sources of data for this study come from books, scientific journals, articles, and educational policy documents published between 2012 and 2025, both from national and international publications. Data in this study were collected through online searches, utilizing various databases such as Google Scholar, ResearchGate, ScienceDirect, Semantic Scholar, and the Education Resources Information Center (ERIC), among other sources. The data analysis technique in this study was carried out using thematic analysis. Research findings indicate that assessment practices in elementary schools are currently in a transition phase from a conventional paradigm to an authentic, student-centered approach. Through the proportional implementation of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments, teachers can obtain a comprehensive picture of students' abilities, needs, and development. However, the effectiveness of assessment implementation in the field still faces various challenges, including teacher competency, limited infrastructure, administrative burdens, and a learning paradigm that is still oriented towards final results. Strategies to improve the effectiveness of assessment and evaluation can be implemented by teachers by understanding the types of assessments and selecting techniques and instruments that are appropriate to student characteristics and learning objectives.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using Google Classroom on the ability to design learning media and teacher professionalism at SMPN 3 Mandau. The method used is a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental research design. The population in this study were 20 teachers at SMPN 3 Mandau, sampling was carried out using the total sampling technique. Data were collected through observation sheets distributed to 20 teachers, consisting of 10 observation aspects for the variable of the ability to design learning media, and 15 observation aspects for the variable of teacher professionalism. The results showed that the use of Google Classroom had a significant positive effect on the ability to design learning media with a coefficient value of 0.000 0.05. In addition, the use of Google Classroom has also been shown to increase teacher professionalism with a coefficient value of 0.301 and a significance of 0.002 0.05. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of Google Classroom can improve the ability to design learning media and teacher professionalism, so it is expected to be a reference in the development of technology-based learning in schools. This research contributes to the development of teacher competencies in the digital era and encourages policies that support the use of technology in learning.
