Abstract

Prevention of AHPND in shrimp can be done by giving immunostimulants, one of which comes fromseaweed extract, explicitly Caulerpa racemosa. This study aimed to determine the effect of the administration of Caulerpa racemosa extract on the relative percent survival (RPS), clinical signs, and behavioral changes of white shrimp after being infected with Vibrio parahaemolyticus. This study used a completely random design with five treatments and three replications, namely K-, K+, and three treatments with the addition of Caulerpa racemosa extract, names P1 (3 μg/g), P2 (6 μg /g), and P3 (9 μg/g). The infection process with Vibrio parahaemolyticus bacteria was carried out 24 hours after being injected with Caulerpa racemosa extract. The results of this study indicate that the highest Relative Percent Survival (RPS) value was P3. Clinical signs of shrimp infected with Vibrio parahaemolyticus were characterized by empty intestines and a whitened hepatopancreas. In addition, there were behavioral changes in shrimp infected with Vibrio parahaemolyticus, namely decreased appetite, passive shrimp movement at the bottom of the aquarium, and erratic swimming movement of shrimp. Based on these results, it could be said that the best treatment is in P3 with a dose of 9 μg/g. This study can provide the best quantity of C. racemosa extract to treat AHPND in shrimp.

Abstract

Budidaya ikan lele dengan sistem kombinasi akuaponik dan bioflok merupakan sistem terpadu yang dinilai efektif dan efisien. Sistem akuaponik mereduksi amonia dengan menyerap air buangan budidaya atau air limbah dengan menggunakan akar tanaman. Bioflok merupakan sistem budidaya ikan intensif yang memanfaatkan prinsip daur ulang nutrien pakan yang terbuang melalui bakterial. Tujuan dilaksanakannnya pengabdian masyarakat sebagai upaya pengenalan budidaya ikan lele dengan sistem kombinasi akuaponik dan bioflok kepada masyarakat di Desa Purwoasri, Tegaldlimo, Banyuwangi. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni-Oktober 2019, terdiri dari pengenalan sistem budidaya pada masyarakat melalui sosialisasi dan pelatihan serta pendampingan pelaksanaan budidaya ikan lele dengan sistem kombinasi akuaponik dan bioflok dalam bentuk bangunan/demplot. Selanjutnya dilakukan evaluasi kepada mitra melalui pre-tes dan post-tes dan diakhiri dengan pembentukan kader. Kegiatan pengenalan sistem budidaya dilakukan kepada mitra yang terdiri dari PKK dan anggota karang taruna di desa Purwoasri sebanyak 20 orang. Berdasarkan evaluasi selama kegiatan ini berlangsung diketahui bahwa pengetahuan mitra tentang sistem budidaya meningkat hingga 75% dari evaluasi awal sebesar 40%. Selain itu, ketertarikan mitra terhadap sistem ini juga mengalami peningkatan dari 65% menjadi 89%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat memberikan dampak positif bagi mitra.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyratakat ini dilaksanakan di Pondok Pesantren Al Anwari, Banyuwangi sebagai upaya untuk memenuhi kebutuhan protein hewani bagi para santri melalui budidaya ikan lele. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk memenuhi asupan protein hewani pada pondok pesantren serta  meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan santri dalam aspek teknis budidaya meliputi manajemen pakan hingga pasca panen. Metode kegiatan meliputi lima tahap yaitu penjaringan aspirasi, pelatihan, pendampingan, monitoring dan evaluasi serta dilakukan pengukuran kualitas air serta pretest maupun posttest. Pelaksanaan kegiatan melibatkan 49 santri kelas IX bersama pengelola pondok pesantren. Hasil pengukuran kualitas air menunjukkan nilai berada dalam kisaran normal untuk budidaya ikan lele. Nilai pretest berkisar antara 86,64-94,74 meningkat menjadi 88,60-96,49 pada posttest. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan berbasis praktik dan pendampingan efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta. Kegiatan ini berpotensi dilakukan di lembaga pendidikan berbasis pesantren lainnya untuk mendukung ketahanan pangan dan meningkatkan ketrampilan santri.

Abstract

The fisheries potential of Banyuwangi Regency is substantial due to its abundant natural resources. The Fish Farmers Group (Pokdakan) Sumber Bening serves as a productive partner located in Rejopuro Hamlet, Kampunganyar Village, Glagah District, Banyuwangi Regency, an area situated within a watershed (DAS) that supports aquaculture activities. This Community Service Program (Pengmas) aims to empower the Sumber Bening fish farmers group as a productive partner; however, they face challenges related to low production output. Initial identification revealed two main problems: limited human resource capacity in intensive catfish cultivation and weak technical management. The interventions implemented included the establishment of an aquaponic cultivation demonstration plot, technical training sessions, as well as continuous mentoring and evaluation. The results showed a significant improvement in skills and competencies—from 8% before training to 75% after training—along with an increase in motivation to develop from 10% to 80%. The final capacity improvement reached 100% in both indicators, indicating successful technology transfer and adoption of intensive aquaculture practices. The partner group successfully implemented Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cultivation, conducted daily record-keeping, and achieved improved feed efficiency, reduced mortality rates, and produced additional outputs in the form of organic vegetables. The growth performance indicated a Feeding Rate (FR) of 1:1 and a Survival Rate (SR) of 99%. This program resulted in the development of a model fish farming group that is adaptive and has strong potential for replication in other regions.

Abstract

The fisheries and marine sector in East Java has abundant potential, one of which is Banyuwangi district. Banyuwangi Regency has potential in freshwater aquaculture because it has 324 rivers with an area of 735 km2 and swamps and reservoirs of 60 hectares. One of the villages in Banyuwangi Regency is Segobang Village, which has the potential to have abundant water sources and continuous flow. This potential can be utilized by training and assisting fish nurseries in Segobang Village by utilizing continuously flowing water and Smart Aquaculture Automatized System (SAAS) technology by utilizing biofilters and running water and aeration as a source of oxygen.  The stages carried out in this community service are as follows: initial assessment of the location, infrastructure and technology development, periodic training and mentoring, implementation and monitoring of the cultivation process, and continued marketing and sales. After the training, the Segobang Village community showed a significant increase in knowledge. The average pre-test scores ranged from 30 to 51, while the post-test scores increased to 79 to 87. This improvement shows that participants better understand the SAAS and its use in fish farming. Continued training and practice can help strengthen the adoption of this technology in the community.
