Abstract

This study examines the function of Brachionus sp. protein on the Cluster Differentiation-4 (CD4) immune system in cantang grouper infected with VNN. The purpose of this study was to determine the protein content of Brachionus sp. which has the potential as an antivirus and to find out the benefits of Brachionus sp. on the expression of CD4 as an indicator of increased fish body defense system against VNN. Brachionus sp. itself contains three protein bands with molecular weights of 122.73 kDa, 75.49 kDa, and 13.77 kDa, which are expected to increase the immune system against VNN on cantang grouper. Protein injection of Brachionus with doses of 35 µl, 105 µl and 170 µl /150 g cantang grouper, showed that the lowest decrease was at a dose of 105 µl/150 gram cantang groupers.

Abstract

The fisheries and marine sector in East Java has abundant potential, one of which is Banyuwangi district. Banyuwangi Regency has potential in freshwater aquaculture because it has 324 rivers with an area of 735 km2 and swamps and reservoirs of 60 hectares. One of the villages in Banyuwangi Regency is Segobang Village, which has the potential to have abundant water sources and continuous flow. This potential can be utilized by training and assisting fish nurseries in Segobang Village by utilizing continuously flowing water and Smart Aquaculture Automatized System (SAAS) technology by utilizing biofilters and running water and aeration as a source of oxygen.  The stages carried out in this community service are as follows: initial assessment of the location, infrastructure and technology development, periodic training and mentoring, implementation and monitoring of the cultivation process, and continued marketing and sales. After the training, the Segobang Village community showed a significant increase in knowledge. The average pre-test scores ranged from 30 to 51, while the post-test scores increased to 79 to 87. This improvement shows that participants better understand the SAAS and its use in fish farming. Continued training and practice can help strengthen the adoption of this technology in the community.

Abstract

Abstract

Fish products are a nutritious food alternative for families and have high market value. The nutrients in fish are important for the body, especially for children. However, these beneficial nutrients are inseparable from quality assessment and fish processing management. This community service activity aims to educate the public and MSME actors in recognising and processing fish properly. The material presented not only focused on fish processing, but also on increasing the selling value, which was the focus of the community service activity. The selling value of fish products increases when they receive a certificate as a product label reinforcement. Therefore, material on the halal product certification process is important to complement the fish processing management material so that consumers are confident that the product quality is guaranteed. The enthusiastic participants consisted of PKK cadres and SMEs under the guidance of the village government. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding, as measured by discussions and hands-on practice accompanied by resource persons. The findings of this program are that fish nuggets are a superior product that is healthy and nutritious and has halal regulations with a mixture of bread as a substitute for flour.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Brachionus sp protein on the interleukin-6 pro-inflammatory immune system in Cantang grouper infected with Viral Nervous Necrosis (VNN). The purpose of this study was to determine the protein content of Brachionus sp. which has the potential as an antivirus and to find out the benefits of Brachionus sp. on the expression of Interleukin-6 as an indicator of increased fish body defense system against VNN. Testing of Brachionus protein by injection at doses of 35 µl, 105 µl, and 170 µl /150 gram Cantang grouper. The results showed that the lowest decrease was at a dose of 105 µl/150-gram Cantang groupers.  In addition, Brachionus sp. contains 3 protein bands with molecular weights of 122.73 kDa, 75.49 kDa, and 13.77 kDa.

Abstract

The large demand for grouper conduce increase production intensively in various ways, by increasing the production of grouper aquaculture raises causing new problems, one of which is infection with VNN disease. The use of antibiotics to treat VNN infections is prohibited or no longer recommended by the government. An alternative way to deal with VNN infection is by increasing the body's immunity in the fish itself. One effort that can be done to increase the body's immunity in grouper is by administering Brachionus sp. protein extracts. This research was conducted to determine whether the Brachionus sp. has an effect on the immune system in cantang grouper (Epinephelus sp.) as indicated by the emergence of Cluster Differentiation-8 (CD8) expression in fish that have been infected with VNN. The proteins contained in Brachionus sp. that has three type molecular weight (122.73 kDa, 75.49 kDa, and 13.77 kDa) potential as an ingredient for treating VNN-infected fish. It is hoped that this can improve the immune system in Epinephelus sp. infected with VNN. Protein Brachionus sp. given by injection at a dose of 35 µl, 105 µl and 170 µl per 150 gr Epinephelus sp. 105 µl was the best concentration in boosting the immune system in the tested Epinephelus sp., as indicated by a decreased CD8 count.
