Abstract

Critical thinking and creative thinking skills are needed to improve the quality and competitive human resources. Therefore, the application of appropriate learning models is expected to stimulate students' critical thinking and creative thinking skills. This research aims to improve critical thinking and creative thinking skill scores using the ASICC learning model. This type of research is classroom action research which is carried out in 2 cycles, with 3 meetings in each cycle. Data on students' critical thinking and creative thinking skills were collected using essay tests on science learning materials. Data analysis was carried out by comparing the N-gain scores in cycle 1 and cycle 2 for students' critical thinking and creative thinking skills. The results of the research revealed that there was an increase that occurred in cycle 2, namely 5.6% in the aspects of moderate critical thinking skills and high creative thinking, as well as in the aspects of critical thinking skills and high creative thinking by 5.6%. Meanwhile, in the previous cycle, these two aspects did not have a high category. Another result found from this research is that students who have low critical thinking skills do not necessarily have low creative thinking skills. This is because students who have low critical thinking skills may have moderate creative thinking skills or vice versa. Thus, the application of the ASICC learning model is effective in improving the scores of critical thinking skills and creative thinking skills of students at Junior High School 5 Kertosono.

Abstract

Wellhead has a vital role for humans. Conservation efforts are key to maintaining springs. However, local wisdom-based conservation, particularly cultural practices, has received more attention than science-based conservation. This study aims to determine the cultural ritual practices at Sendang Tirto Kamandanu and their role in conservation. The study was conducted from November 2024 to April 2025 using a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods in Menang, Pagu, Kediri. The data consisted of recordings and photographs obtained through interviews using the snowball sampling technique, involving the head of the cultural and nature conservation division of the Kediri Regency Tourism Office, the head of the Village Consultative Body (BPD) of Menang Village, the site caretaker (juru kunci), and visitors. The data were then compared across respondents to identify similarities, differences, and emerging findings within the studied population. Finally, conclusions were drawn and presented in a narrative form. The results revealed five ethnoconservation practices at Sendang Tirto Kamandanu: ritual mandi suci, nimba banyu, pengkain kuning, sesrawung ringin sanga, and 1 suro. Through these cultural ritual practices, Sendang Tirto Kamandanu has been well maintained and conserved to date. This research is expected to enrich ethnoconservation studies in environmental conservation education, especially at Nusantara PGRI Kediri University.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase the community's knowledge and skills in using chopping machines, which is a basic skill in managing litter and agricultural waste into compost and processing livestock forage into silage. Service activities were carried out in Tempurejo village, Kediri Regency with a total of 36 partners. The method used in this service is an empowerment based on collaborative participation. The activity stages follow the community empowerment implementation model, namely ODSIMED (Observation, Development, Socialisation, Implementation, Monitoring, Evaluation and Desemination). The instrument used to measure community knowledge and skills is a questionnaire and the data is analyzed quantitatively. The results of this service show that partners (1) are able to determine chopped materials for making compost or silage, achieving an average skill score of 3.27, (2) are able to differentiate the function of each part of the machine, achieving an average skill score of 3.30, (3) able to turn on and turn off the machine with a partner skill score reaching 3.20, (4) able to produce various forms of shreds both for compost and silage making purposes achieving an average score of 3.50, (5) able to calculate production capacity reaching the average skill score is 3.40, and (6) being able to carry out maintenance on machines reaches an average skill score of 2.80.
