Abstract

Enterotoxin Escherichia coli resistant to antibiotics on broiler. The used of antibiotics should be re- evaluated, as well as over Escherichia coli enterotoxin. Plants meniran (Phyllanthus niruri Linn) is a plant that can be used as an alternative prevention and treatment of diseases caused by Escherichia coli enterotoxin. In this research, broilers at the age of 23 days were divided into six groups. Two groups are positive control was infected by Escherichia coli and negative control was not infected by Escherichia coli. Three groups are extract of Phyllanthus niruri Linn. plant that variety in three dosage: 20%, 25%, 30% and antibiotic. After five days treatment the broiler was to take the sample of blood tissue. The data were tested with Annova and continued by Duncan multiple range test. There was a significant difference of immunomodulation activity between treatment group doses 30% has been able to decrease lymphocyte on blood. The result showed doses 30% can be used as immunomodulation to Escherichia coli.

Abstract

Aeromoniasis is a bacterial disease caused by Aeromonas hydrophila that affects fish and shrimps in ponds and aquariums. This is an ulcer disease that causes petechiae in scales of fish and may be fatal. It can cause economic loss if it is not treated with medication accompanied with improved sanitation. It affects numerous freshwater fish farms in East Java. A previous study has characterized an antigenic protein derived from the outer membrane protein of A. hydrophila. In order to perform sequencing of the DNA coding for this protein, we first conducted a study for isolating DNA fragments of A. hydrophila via four stages: cultivation and harvesting of bacterial cells, cell lysis, DNA purification, and the concentration of chromosomal DNA. The results will be used as a predictive immunogenic determinant by the method by Kolaskar and Tongaonkar.

Abstract

This research is about testing the effectiveness of clove flower extract (Syzygium aromaticum L.) as an analgesic against the beating time caused by formalin male mice. This research is experimental with the Complete Random Design formula producing four times repetition (N = 4) and divided into five treatment groups (t = 5). Data were analyzed using ANAVA factorial test then followed by Duncan test. All tests are carried out with Product Solutions and Service Statistics (SPSS). The results of research and statistical analysis prove that clove flower extract at a dose of 1% is an effective dose compared to other treatment groups, seen from the amount of time licking male mice  which is smaller than other treatment groups. It can be concluded that the administration of clove flower extract has analgesic effectiveness against the reaction of male mice induced by formalin. The concentration of clove flower extract 1% is the most effective in reducing licking time.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine in vitro inhibition test of lime peel liquid (Citrus aurantifolia, Swingle) against E. coli. The E. coli isolate was cultured on Muller Hinton Agar (MHA) media. Antibacterial test in this study using diffusion method. Negative control (K-) using CMC-Na 0.1%. Positive control (K+) using oxytetracycline antibiotics. The treatments were given lime peel liquid (Citrus aurantifolia, Swingle) with concentrations of 100%, 75%, 50% and 25%, respectively. The study design using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method, with six treatments and four repetitions. Data were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis test, Moreover, the Post Hoc Mann-Whitney method. The inhibition zone analysis results were showed that K + had significant differences compared to all treatments K-, 100%, 75%, 50%, and 25%. K- was found to be significantly different from treatments 100%, 75%, 50% and 25%. The results showed that the lime peel liquid has the potential as an antibacterial activity against the growth of E. coli in vitro. Concentration of 25% has shown the presence of inhibitory zones on Mueller Hinton media that have been inoculated with lime peel liquid.

Abstract

Aims of this research was to determine the effect of distance and the duration of straw count above liquid nitrogen to the Quality of Frozen Simental Cattle. This study used a sample derived from simmental cattle from BBIB singosari as much as 48 straw divided into 8 treatments. P1(0,5cm 15 sec), P2(0,5cm 30 sec), P3( 0,5cm 45 sec), P4(0,5cm 60 sec), P5(1,5cm 15 sec), P6(1,5cm 30 sec), P7(1,5cm 45 sec), P8(1,5cm 60 sec) and repeated as much as 6 times then observed for motility and viability of post thawing spermatozoa. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS 16.0. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS 16.0. The results showed that the duration of straw count and the position of straw from liquid nitrogen  not significant (P>0,05) on post thawing motility. The position of straw from liquid nitrogen not signifant (P>0,05) on post thawing viability. The conclusion of this research showed that 0,5 cm 15 sec give the higher post thawing motility.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the effect of pomegranate (Punicagranatum L.) on the improvement of spermatozoa quality that is increase of percentage of capacitation and acrosome reaction in white rat (Rattusnorvegicus). This research used 20 healthy white rat (Rattusnorvegicus) with average age 2-3 months old, 200-300 g. Research design using completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and 5 replications. Rats were randomly divided into 4 treatment groups. Rat in the negative control group not treated just kept alone, solvent control group were given CMC Na 0,5% and is exposed to heat, the treatment groups 1, 2, and 3 induced pomegranate extract standardized to 40% ellagic acid at a dose of 75mg / kg, 150mg / kg and 300mg /kg perorally with doses 1 ml/rat/day gastric for along 14 days and exposed to heat. Data were analyzed using One Way Analysis of Variant (ANOVA) followed by Duncan (p<0,05). The result showed that there was significant effect from therapy on the quality of rats spermatozoa especially to capacitation and acrosome reaction. The treatment from treatment 2 group showed the best result in maintaining the quality of rats spermatozoa with 27.6± 3.04 values for capacitation and 6,80 ± 1,30 for acrosome reactions. Extract of pomegranate (Punicagranatum L.) standardized to 40% ellagic acid has a significant change in improve the quality of spermatozoa, namely an increase in the percentage of capacitation and acrosome reactions in white rats (Rattusnorvegicus) exposed to heat.

Abstract

Ovarian hypofunction is a condition in which the follicles in the ovary can not develop due to lack of feed. It can affect the pituitary anterior, so the production of FSH and LH was low. GnRH can stimulate the pituitary anterior to produced FSH and LH. This study aimed to prove that GnRH injection in dairy cows with ovarian hypofunction can initiate estrus, followed by pregnancy. This study used 12 dairy cows with BCS ≥ 2.75, with anestrus due to ovarian hypofunction. All dairy cows were divided into two treatment groups, P1 injected with GnRH at a dose of 100 µg intramuscularly and P2 injected with GnRH at a dose of 300 µg intramuscularly. The results were analyzed using an independent t-test and Chi-Square test. The result showed that estrus rate of P1 and P2 were both 100%, meanwhile onset of estrus of P2 (53.83 ± 8.1 h) was shorter p <0.05) than P1 (74.17 ± 4.7 h). Both of P1 and P2 showed 100% pregnancy rate. It could be concluded that GnRH injection could initiate 100% estrus, and followed by 100% pregnancy in dairy cows with ovarian hypofunction.
