Abstract

In this digital era, social media has become a very effective tool for candidates and political parties to communicate, influence voters, and promote their messages. The tight world of politics requires political parties to create personal branding that differentiates them from other political parties. This research aims to explore in-depth the strategies for building personal branding carried out by new Indonesian political parties on social media. The researcher focused on three new political parties active on social media, namely the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), the Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo), and the Indonesian People's Wave Party (Gelora). This research analyses the official Twitter accounts of the three parties from September 2020 to June 2023. The choice of this period is essential to maintaining data consistency and ensuring that the analysis can find strategies for building personal branding without interference from intense campaign activities. This research uses qualitative methods with a Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA) approach. NVivo12 plus software was used to help visualise the data. This research shows that PSI is building its personal branding using a millennial-style approach, Perindo is focusing on welfare issues, and Gelora Party is relying on experienced senior figures. Overall, this research emphasises that an effective personal branding strategy requires a deep understanding of the target audience, selecting relevant issues, and using credible figures.

Abstract

This study aims to map the issue of sand mining conflict in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). Illegal mining in DIY has caused a significant impact on environmental damage, creating a water crisis and changing natural vegetation. Within thirteen years, the issue of illicit mining in DIY has not been resolved due to slow policies and responses. This study uses a qualitative method to map the issue of illegal mining and the impacts caused, and it uses Nvivo as an analysis tool to map the issue of illicit mining in DIY. The results of this study answer that illegal mining in DIY is grouped into conflict issues, causes of conflict, impacts of conflict, and conflict resolution. Mapping the results of this study shows that the water crisis and environmental damage cause the issue of conflict, while the causes of the conflict are sand degrading and illegal mining permits. The loss of water sources and agricultural areas causes the impacts. Conflict resolution through the closure of sand mines and government policies, this study concludes that the consistency of the issue of illegal mining is influenced by the impacts caused and the intensity of mining carried out, so illegal mining in DIY persists for a long time.

This research aims to determine the development of political behavior of the Indonesian millennial and Z generation in the virtual sphere. The theoretical basis used is Jurgen Habermas's public sphere theory and Papacharissi's Virtual Sphere theory. The results of the analysis show that the political behavior of the millennial and Z generations in the virtual sphere is influenced by their respective backgrounds. The behavior of the Indonesian millennial and Z generations tends to be impolite. The younger generation tends to carry out cyberbullying, hate speech, hoaxes and character assassination against parties who have different political views.

Abstract

This research focuses on the development of online services using Artificial Intelligence (AI) created to build a concept of smart city based on E-Government. The focus of this research is to answer the question: Is the implementation of smart city effective in improving the quality of public services? The impact of smart city implementation on the development of public services is also discussed.
