Abstract

Basic training on Microsoft Word and scientific writing was held at Pesma Putra Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu to improve the digital literacy of new students. This activity was based on the participants' lack of understanding of important features in Microsoft Word that support academic writing, such as headings, automatic table of contents creation, page numbering, and citation management. The implementation method adopted a hands-on approach (learning by doing) with material delivery, practical sessions, and evaluation through a Google Form-based pre-test and post-test. The assessment results showed a significant increase in participants' understanding. The average pre-test score showed low understanding, while the post-test score rose to the category of understanding and very understanding according to the Likert scale. In addition to the increase in numbers, participants also displayed high enthusiasm during the practice. This activity shows that short training using interactive methods can have a positive influence on students' basic skills in using word processing software for academic purposes. This service activity is expected to be a reference for implementing similar training in the future, as well as supporting the improvement of digital literacy in the campus environment, especially in welcoming new students.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of students from Buol Regency who migrate to Gorontalo City and work as buskers to support themselves while pursuing their education at the Universitas Negeri Gorontalo (UNG). The aim of this study is to analyze the social life portrait of busker students, including their motivations, challenges, and interactions with their surrounding environment. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques involving observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that most of the busker students come from families with a lower-middle economic background. The primary factors driving them to busk include economic limitations, the desire for independence, and the outlet for their musical talents. Busking provides them with flexible working hours but is often accompanied by negative stigma from the community. Despite this, they demonstrate strong social resilience and are able to balance their roles as students and income earners. This phenomenon reflects the existence of an educated marginal group that requires attention in social planning and public policy.

Abstract

The ability to read, write, and count (Calistung) is a fundamental skill that elementary school students must master as a foundation for further learning. In Tebing Tanjung Selamat Village, Padang Tualang Sub-district, Langkat Regency, students' Calistung proficiency remains low due to the lack of varied teaching methods and the underutilization of the surrounding natural environment as a learning resource. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to improve students’ Calistung skills through the integration of the natural environment into the learning process. The program was implemented through teacher training, the development of contextual learning modules based on the local environment, and direct assistance during learning activities. The results of the program show a significant improvement in students' Calistung abilities, as indicated by the increase in average pre-test and post-test scores. Active participation from teachers, students, and the local community played a key role in the program’s success. In addition to improving students' basic competencies, the program produced valuable outputs such as learning modules and best practices that can be replicated in other rural areas with similar characteristics. Environment-based learning has proven to be effective, enjoyable, and relevant for enhancing students’ basic skills in rural settings.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital di era Revolusi Industri 4.0 dan Society 5.0 menuntut generasi muda memiliki literasi digital yang memadai. Karang Taruna Generasi Remaja (GEMA) di Kota Tangerang Selatan masih menghadapi keterbatasan pemanfaatan teknologi secara produktif. Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini dilaksanakan oleh Universitas Pamulang di Gedung Diklat Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Kota Tangerang Selatan dengan tujuan meningkatkan literasi digital dan pemahaman tentang kecerdasan buatan (Artificial Intelligence/AI). Metode pelaksanaan meliputi seminar interaktif, workshop, dan pendampingan praktik pembuatan website berbasis AI. Peserta dibekali konsep dasar AI, strategi prompting, serta keterampilan mengaplikasikan teknologi untuk membuat website organisasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan peserta dalam menyusun prompt yang efektif, menghasilkan konten website, dan mengelola desain situs menggunakan platform berbasis AI. Selain keterampilan teknis, kegiatan ini juga membangun sikap positif terhadap pemanfaatan teknologi dan mengurangi kecemasan digital. Kesimpulannya, PKM ini berhasil memberikan dampak nyata dalam meningkatkan literasi digital dan keterampilan praktis anggota Karang Taruna GEMA, yang diharapkan menjadi langkah awal pengembangan inovasi berbasis teknologi di tingkat komunitas.
