Abstract

Background: Anxiety disorders are a type of mental health condition that is common in society. One of the most common types of anxiety is social anxiety (SA), which is a condition in the form of a real and persistent fear of social situations. Nearly 70% of people had received the vaccine during the Covid-19 pandemic and had begun to actively conduct out their activities outside, which led to an increase in social anxiety. Objective: The purpose of this research was to characterize social anxiety in senior high school students in the Medan City District in 2022 during the Covid-19 pandemic. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design and was descriptive in nature. There was 130 respondents in senior high school at Medan Kota District in 2022 who were chosen by the cluster selection technique. Results: In this study obtainbed 130 respondents, the level of social anxiety in senior high school adolescents at Medan City District were mild 45.4%, moderate 50,8% and severe 3.8%. Conclusion: The majority level of social anxiety in senior high school adolescents at Medan City District during the Covid-19 pandemic were mild to moderate in both male and female genders. Abstract

Background: Body dysmorphics are psychological symptoms where sufferers experience an excessive obsession with minimal and even imaginary physical disabilities. One of the factors that cause the appearance of a sense of dissatisfaction with oneself or what is known as a symptom of body dysmorphics is body image. A person with a positive body image will find themselves attractive, both according to themselves and according to others or at least can accept themselves as they are in contrast to someone with a negative body image, they will consider themselves unattractive. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between body image and body dysmorphic symptoms in adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic. Case: This study was observational analytical study with a cross-sectional design. Sample selection using purposive sampling method with a total sample of 100 high school teenagers in Medan Kota District in 2022. Univariate analysis is displayed in tabular form and bivariate assays are performed using chi-square tests. Discussion: The result of this study, 89% of respondents classified as positive body image and 86% did not have symptoms of body dysmorphic. The relationship of body image with body dysmorphic symptoms was analyzed with the Chi-Square test and found a p value = 0.000.Conclusion: there is a relationship between body image and body dysmorphic symptoms in adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic. Abstract

Pendahuluan: ASI eksklusif berpengaruh terhadap kualitas sumber daya manusia. Di beberapa daerah di Sumatera Utara, capaian pemberian ASI eksklusif masih rendah. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan faktor yang memengaruhi pemberian ASI eksklusif pada ibu menyusui di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Kabanjahe. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan desain cross-sectional. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah ibu menyusui yang memiliki bayi berusia 6-12 bulan di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Kabanjahe yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner. Hasil: Sebanyak 138 responden ibu menyusui menjadi subjek pada penelitian ini mayoritas tidak memberikan ASI eksklusif pada bayinya. Ibu menyusui yang memberikan ASI eksklusif sebesar 34,8% sementara itu ibu yang tidak memberikan ASI eksklusif 65,2%. Mayoritas responden yang tidak memberikan ASI eksklusif pada bayinya yang memiliki pendidikan rendah, memiliki pekerjaan, berpendapatan rendah, berpengetahuan buruk, memiliki sikap yang buruk, tidak melakukan inisiasi menyusu dini dan tidak mendapat dukungan suami. Sebagian subjek yang tidak memberikan ASI eksklusif tidak terpengaruh budaya dan sebagian terpengaruh budaya. Di sisi lain, mayoritas responden yang memberikan ASI eksklusif pada bayinya yang memiliki pendidikan tinggi, berpendapatan tinggi, berpengetahuan baik, memiliki sikap yang baik, tidak terpengaruh budaya, melakukan inisiasi menyusu dini, mendapat dukungan suami dan terdapat jumlah yang sama antara subjek yang memiliki pekerjaan dan yang tidak bekerja. Kesimpulan: Sebagian besar ibu menyusui di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Kabanjahe tidak memberikan ASI eksklusif. Terdapat gambaran dari faktor yang mungkin memengaruhi hal tersebut. Penelitian lanjutan diperlukan untuk menganalisis hubungan faktor-faktor tersebut terhadap pemberian ASI eksklusif.

Abstract

Radikal bebas merupakan senyawa yang mengandung satu atau lebih elektron tidak berpasangan dan bersifat tidak stabil sehingga sangat reaktif yang menyebabkan stres oksidatif, karena keadaan ini membuat tubuh butuh antioksidan secara endogen dan eksogen yang dapat diperoleh dari bahan pangan alami seperti sayur pakcoy (Brassica rapa subsp. Chinensis) berbagai jenis tanam : organik, hidroponik dan nonorganik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak sari murni sayur pakcoy berbagai jenis tanam yang diolah dengan pemanasan. Desain penelitian ini adalah eksperimental laboratorium murni dengan melakukan pemeriksaan flavonoid dan pengamatan aktivitas antioksidan dengan konsentrasi 100 ppm, 200 ppm, 300 ppm, 400 ppm, 500 ppm untuk organik dan hidroponik serta konsentrasi 150 ppm, 300 ppm, 450 ppm, 600 ppm, 750 ppm untuk nonorganik menggunakan metode DPPH yang disesuaikan berdasarkan klasifikasi nilai IC50 dan dilakukan dua kali pengulangan pada spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Sayur pakcoy terbukti mengandung senyawa antioksidan dari hasil flavonoid terjadi perubahan warna dari hijau ke merahbata (organik), kuning keemasan (hidroponik) maupun kuning kehijauan (nonorganik) yang menandakan positif. Berdasarkan klasifikasi nilai IC50 sayur pakcoy organik (418 ppm) termasuk dalam kategori lemah, sayur pakcoy hidroponik (536 ppm) dan sayur pakcoy nonorganik (1318 ppm) termasuk dalam kategori sangat lemah. Sayur pakcoy berperan sebagai antioksidan dan memiliki manfaat lain seperti mengurangi rasa gatal saat batuk, melancarkan pencernaan, serta mengandung vitamin A, B, C, Fe.

Abstract

Radikal bebas yang berlebih dapat menyebabkan stres oksidatif yang memicu berbagai penyakit seperti kanker, diabetes, dan penuaan dini. Antioksidan berperan penting untuk menetralkan radikal bebas, salah satunya terdapat pada brokoli (Brassica oleracea). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental laboratorium murni dengan melakukan pengamatan aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak sari murni brokoli pada beberapa durasi penyajjian perebusan dengan konsentrasi 100 ppm, 200 ppm, 300 ppm, 400 ppm, 500 ppm. Uji kualitatif dilakukan dengan pemeriksaan flavonoid dan uji kuantitatif dengan metode DPPH menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis dengan dilakukan 3 kali pengulangan. Sayur brokoli terbukti mengandung senyawa antioksidan dengan uji flavonoid positif dengan ditandai perubahan warna dari merah bata menjadi orange. Nilai IC50 sayur brokoli dengan penyajian perebusan dengan durasi 2 menit (363 ppm), durasi 4 menit (337 ppm), dan durasi 6 menit (304 ppm). Aktivitas antioksidan sayur brokoli pada penyajian perebusan dengan durasi 2 menit dikategorikan lemah, durasi 4 menit dikategorikan lemah, dan durasi 6 menit dikategorikan lemah.

Abstract

Free radicals can be very dangerous and cause various diseases. Antioxidants are needed to counteract the negative effects of free radicals on the body. Antioxidants can be sourced from fresh fruit, one of which is pomegranate. Nowadays, the busyness of daily life makes people prefer to consume fresh fruit juice packaged in bottles, because it is more practical and easy. However, it’s not known whether or not there is a change in antioxidant activity during several days of storage in the chiller, which could affect the effectiveness of pomegranate in warding off radicals. Based on this, researchers were interested in determining the antioxidant activity of pomegranate (punica granatum L.) juice during chilled and fresh storage using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picylhydrazyl) method. This study was a descriptive laboratory experimental study. The research sample comprised pomegranate juice with multiple storage durations, each of which was tested in two replicates. The results showed that at several different storage durations there were different antioxidant activities and IC₅₀  values. The fresher the pomegranate, the greater its ability to inhibit free radical activity. Based on the results of this study, the public is advised to consume pomegranate juice in fresh condition to obtain optimal antioxidant benefits.

Abstract

Background: Excessive free radicals in the body can cause oxidative stress and trigger various diseases. Antioxidants play a crucial role in neutralizing free radicals. Purple eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is a natural source of antioxidants that has a high anthocyanin content. The boiling process is essential for preparing purple eggplant, as it can affect its antioxidant activity. Methods: This study was a controlled laboratory experimental design, observing the antioxidant activity of boiled purple eggplant extracts at durations of 4 minutes, 8 minutes, and 12 minutes, with concentrations of 50 ppm, 100 ppm, 150 ppm, 200 ppm, and 250 ppm. The qualitative test was conducted to detect the presence of flavonoids, while the quantitative test was performed using the DPPH method with a UV-Vis spectrophotometer and repeated three times. Results: The flavonoid test indicated that purple eggplant contains antioxidant compounds, as shown by the color change from brick red to golden yellow. The IC50 values of boiled purple eggplant were 152 ppm (4 minutes), 110 ppm (8 minutes), and 130 ppm (12 minutes). Conclusion: The antioxidant activity of purple eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) measured using the DPPH method was categorized as moderate, with the highest antioxidant activity observed at 8 minutes of boiling, indicated by the lowest IC50 value of 110 ppm. In comparison, the IC50 values at 4 and 12 minutes of boiling were 152 ppm and 130 ppm, respectively. These findings suggest that boiling duration affects antioxidant activity, with 8 minutes representing the optimal boiling time for preserving antioxidant compounds in purple eggplant.

Abstract

Strawberries (Fragaria × ananassa) are rich in phenolic antioxidants, particularly anthocyanins, which degrade during processing and storage. However, the rate of antioxidant loss in freshly prepared strawberry juice during the first few days of typical home refrigeration—the exact period a consumer would drink it—remains insufficiently quantified. This study evaluated the antioxidant activity of freshly prepared strawberry juice stored at 4°C (chiller) for 0, 1, 3, and 5 days using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging assay. Sample concentrations of 100–500 ppm (w/v) were tested in triplicates. The presence of flavonoids was qualitatively confirmed using the Shinoda test. IC50 values were derived from the linear regression of the percentage of inhibition versus concentration. Fresh juice exhibited the highest antioxidant capacity (IC50 = 140 ppm; moderate activity). After only one day of chiller storage, the IC50 increased substantially to 225 ppm, a ~61% increase, indicating a significant loss of potency. Further increases to 257 ppm (day 3) and 272 ppm (day 5) placed the samples in the weak activity category (IC50 > 150 ppm per Yuslianti, 2018). An anomalous decrease in the% inhibition at 500 ppm in the fresh sample was noted and discussed as a likely measurement artifact. In conclusion, these findings demonstrate that strawberry juice loses a substantial proportion of its antioxidant potency within 24 h of preparation. Strawberry juice should ideally be consumed within one day of preparation for meaningful antioxidant benefit.
