Abstract

This study aims to analyze the risk of field rice farming in the dry season and rainy season and the influence of the use of production inputs on the risk of field rice production. The research was conducted in Nggela village with consideration. a) is a dryland village with the main food commodities of paddy rice Field rice farmers in Nggela village as many as 53 farmers, all farmers were studied to get the data and information needed. Analysis of the data used is the coefficient of variation. This analysis is a measure of relative risk obtained by dividing the standard deviation with the expected value. . The magnitude of the influence of input use on production risk was analyzed using multiple linear regression, the production function used was the Cobb Douglass production function beginning with the classical assumption test. The results of the analysis show that the risk of producing paddy rice farming in the rainy season is lower than in the dry season. The results of the t-test analysis show that not all independent variables have a significant effect on the dependent variable. Variables that are not influential are labor variables. Data in the field shows that the workmanship in Nggela village is still familiar with the pattern of cooperation, so that a lot or a little workforce is used that does not affect the risk of production. In the variables of land, seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, there is a significant and negative sign, this means that any additional land area, seeds, fertilizers and pesticides will reduce the risk of field rice production.

Abstract

The goal of this research was to understand the diversity of soil mesofauna native to different plant habitats in the area of Kelimutu National Park and to understand how the dominant soil mesofaunal populations vary depending on vegetative diversity. This research was conducted in a number of different vegetation habitat zones according to the intensity of land use in the area of Kelimutu National Park and in the laboratories at the University of Flores in the city of Ende. This research was designed in a linear method and sampled vegetation from areas labelled VR (Vacciniumvaringiaefoliumdan Rhododendron renschiamum), VCa (mixed forest) and VC (coniferous forest). The results of this research show that the area near Kelimutu National Park contains low to medium diversity. Low diversity was observed in areas with vegetation VR with5 types of soil mesofauna (H’:1.153) whereas medium diversity was observed in areas with vegetation VCa, with researchers finding 7 types of soil mesofauna (H’:1.771). Six types of soil mesofauna were found in areas with vegetation type VC (H’:1.727). Vegetative diversity was found to be linked to the increasing dominance of soil mesofauna in the area of Kelimutu National Park. The highest value of vegetative diversity was (H’:1.821), found in area VCa with the dominance of soil mesofauna (E:0,85). For area VR, the vegetative diversity was (H’:1,771) with a dominant soil mesofauna value of (E:0.72) and for vegetation VC the vegetative diversity was (H’:0.861) with dominant soil mesofauna value of (E: 0,28).

Abstract

Training on Agro Eco-System Analysis for Cassava Farmers in Plant Pest Organism Management Techniques. Pest population fluctuations in cassava plants tend to increase and spread rapidly in drought fields and a monoculture cropping pattern with close spacing therefore the presence of pests planted is highly dependent on agro-ecosystem conditions. Therefore ecological-based pest control is very necessary.  To maintain the stability of the plant ecosystem, basic skills are needed in conducting agroecosystem analysis (AESA). Based on the analysis results obtained recommendations for appropriate ecosystem management for each growing season and facilitate farmers in determining good cultivation techniques regarding pest control, cropping patterns, soil and water conservation as well as natural enemies that are appropriate for their plants. AESA activities are carried out so that farmers understand and are skilled in managing their cassava plantations because Randotonda Village is a producer of "Nuabosi" cassava which is known as a regional superior product. The activity is carried out in a participatory manner by directly involving the participating farmers as observers, fact seekers and decision-makers for the management of their agroecosystems through discussion and manifesting current real conditions with the hope that in the future they can manage their cropping agroecosystems properly. The highest increase in farmer understanding occurred in natural enemy components of 91.67% while the average increase in farmer understanding for all agro-ecosystem components was 57.14%. All participants were able to perform AESA very well which was indicated by the ability of farmers to make recommendations for managing cassava agroecosystems for the next planting season.
