Abstract

The low interest and learning outcomes of students in science learning in elementary schools are often caused by the use of less varied learning media so that the learning process tends to be monotonous and less actively involving students. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of Rogaplay educational game media on the interest and learning outcomes of elementary school students in science. This study uses a quantitative approach with a pre- experimental design of one group pretest–posttest. The study was conducted at Kyai Hasyim Elementary School, Surabaya, with 31 fourth-grade students as research subjects. Data collection techniques used tests, questionnaires, and observations. Analysis of learning outcomes was carried out using the N-Gain formula, while data on students' learning interests were analyzed using percentages. The results showed that the use of Rogaplay educational game media was effective in increasing students' interest and learning outcomes. The average N-Gain value of learning interest was 0.70, which is included in the high increase category. Meanwhile, the average N-Gain value of cognitive learning outcomes was 0.88, which is also included in the high increase category. Furthermore, the average psychomotor learning outcome was 93.06, indicating that students were able to effectively use Rogaplay media during the learning process. Therefore, Rogaplay educational game media can be used as an alternative, innovative learning medium to improve interest and learning outcomes in science in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low science learning motivation of elementary school students because learning media had not been used effectively. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the Florabox media in improving students’ learning motivation. This study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 34 fourth-grade elementary school students. The instrument used was an ARCS learning motivation questionnaire. The data were analyzed using the N-gain test. The results showed that the Florabox media was potentially effective in improving students' learning motivation, as indicated by an average N-gain score of 0.826, which was classified as high.

Abstract

Students' low understanding of the human respiratory system is a challenge in elementary science and social studies (IPAS) learning because the material is abstract and difficult to observe directly. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of infographic media in improving students' understanding of the human respiratory system. A quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. The participants were 27 fifth-grade students at SD Iskandar Said Surabaya. Data were collected using learning implementation observation sheets, pretest-posttest questions, and a student response questionnaire. The data were analyzed using percentage and N-Gain analyses. The findings showed that learning implementation reached 100% (very good). The average student score increased from 43.33 on the pretest to 92.59 on the posttest, with an average N-Gain of 0.87 (high). Student responses reached 97.96%, indicating a very positive perception of the media. Therefore, infographic media is effective in improving elementary students' understanding of the human respiratory system.
