Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to explore the relationship between emotion regulation and social support with subjective well-being in college students who experience quarter-life crisis. This research is a quantitative study with a multiple correlational approach. The population in this study were 23,039 students in Sidoarjo based on the Central Bureau of Statistics in 2022. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling technique. This study shows that an insignificant negative relationship was also found between social support and subjective well-being (r=-0.063, p=0.248). This means that the higher the social support received, the subjective well-being tends to decrease, although this relationship is also not strong enough to be meaningful. This finding contradicts previous research which generally shows that social support contributes positively to subjective well-being.

The research subjects were 283 students of class VII at SMPN (Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri/State Junior High School) 2 Porong. This study collected data through: survey, observation, and semi-structured interviews. The findings show that students' ability to read Qur'an can be categorized into four levels namely: Ibtida 1, Ibtida 2, Jayyid, and Jayyid Jidan. Those four categories placed students based on their abilities in reading Qur'an. According to Pearson correlation, there was a significance value of 0.000 <0.05, which means there is a linear relationship between the teaching methods and the students' ability to read Qur'an. Following this result, some methods of learning to read Qur'an like Iqra, Tahqiq, Talaqqi  Mushafahah, and CMSA (Cara Mengaji Santri Aktif/an active way to read Qur'an for students) are in position to be applied in order to improve children's Qur'an reading abilities.

Abstract

Abstract

Objective: This research aims to understand the resilience of Muslim single mothers who have children with special needs. The main focus of the research is how mothers deal with the psychological, emotional, and social challenges of parenting their children. Method: This research uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with two informants who met the criteria as single mothers with children with special needs. Purposive sampling technique was used to select subjects who had demonstrated resilience in facing their life challenges. Results: Research finds that mothers' resilience is influenced by various aspects, including emotional regulation, impulse control, optimism, causal analysis, empathy, self-efficacy, and reaching out. Apart from that, social support, spirituality and positive emotions also play an important role in helping them overcome difficulties. Differences in resilience patterns were found between informants, with one relying more on social support, while the other focused more on self-control and confidence in facing challenges. Novelty: This research provides new insight into how resilience is formed in the context of single Muslim mothers with children with special needs. By understanding the aspects that support their psychological resilience, it is hoped that the results of this research can provide recommendations for other mothers who face similar situations and for those who want to provide support for families with children with special needs.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-esteem and self-control with narcissistic behavior among TikTok users at Hang Tuah 5 Senior High School. Method: A quantitative correlational approach was employed, with saturated sampling involving 221 students. Data were collected through validated scales measuring narcissistic behavior, self-esteem, and self-control. Results: The findings revealed a positive correlation between self-esteem and narcissistic behavior, and a negative correlation between self-control and narcissistic behavior. Specifically, adolescents with higher self-esteem were more likely to exhibit narcissistic behavior due to their desire for attention and validation on social media, while those with lower self-control were less capable of regulating their behavior, leading to increased narcissistic tendencies. Novelty: This study provides new insights into the psychological dynamics influencing narcissistic behavior among adolescents in the digital era. It underscores the importance of enhancing self-control to mitigate excessive narcissism and offers a foundation for developing targeted psychological interventions for youth social media users.
