Abstract

Geological mapping is one of the methods to study the geological state of an area, in addition to studying it from existing literature. In geological mapping discussed about the condition of geomorphology, stratigraphy, geological structure so that the results of the overall geological conditions and recommendations in the form of potentials and disaster-prone areas in the research area. The research area located in Sungai Puar Village, Renah Mendaluh District, Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency, Jambi Province is included in the South Sumatra Basin, where the basin was formed from extensional tectonics at the beginning of the Late Eocene. Stratigraphically in the research area there are Oligocece - Early Miocene Talangakar Formations and Early - Late Miocene-aged Gumai Formations. Regional stratigraphically the stratigraphic relationship of these two formations is in harmony with the deposition environment of the transitional Talangakar Formation – shallow sea, while for the Gumai Formation it belongs to the shallow marine deposition environment. The purpose of this research is to know the geological condition of the research area. In the method used for data analysis is the geological mapping method itself.

Abstract

Musi Banyuasin Regency is one of the areas in South Sumatra which has very abundant natural Coal resources. Coal still plays a very important role as a natural resource that is much needed, so it is important to know the aspects of Coal starting from the quality and characteristics of Coal as well as the Coal formation process. So it is necessary to determine the Coal deposition environment. This aims to provide additional information and to determine the characteristics of Coal so that it can provide additional information. In this study, secondary data was used in the form of LAS data files resulting from recording well logging data for 7 wells which were then processed using WellCAD 5.5 software to obtain log sheet results, namely gamma ray logs and density logs, which were then interpreted as subsurface lithology by reading the deflection log curve. From the results of reading the log curve, the lithology in the research area was obtained in the form of mudstone, siltstone, sandstone and Coal. Analyzing the grain size variations of the lithology in the research area using the electrofacies analysis method, it was found that three dominant depositional patterns in the research area were of the Serrated, Cylindrical and Symmetrical types when compared with Horne calcification. As well as Levee in hard rock, clay. And from the facies analysis it can be identified that the research area is a Delta depositional environment in the Upper Delta Plain-Fluvial zone.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the site class of the soil in the Tanah Kampung District in Sungai Penuh City. In this case, the method used is the HVSR microtremor method. HVSR is a method of comparing the spectrum of the horizontal component to the vertical component of a microtremor wave that recorded by seismograph. HVSR parameters were used to calculated shear wave velocity (Vs30) to defined site class. It reveals this areas classified in site class SC and SD. The area is predominantly composed of SD. This areas are characterized by soft sediments that require special handling if heavy infrastructure development is planned above them. This can be done by compacting the soil layers and mixing them with limestone.
