Abstract

Vocational high schools are schools that provide workers who have knowledge and skills in their respective fields. The Industrial Electronics Engineering Department is a department that provides competent workforce in the field of robotics. Payakumbuh State Vocational School 2 majoring in Industrial Electronics Engineering is experiencing problems implementing robotics learning. The problem is that schools do not yet have robotic training kits that can be used like robots in industry. Schools only have robotic training kits that can be used to understand the basic input and output uses of robots and cannot be used practically with robots in industry. Based on these problems, the aim of this research is to develop a mobile robotic training kit that is practical and can be used from basic learning to learning complex robots such as industrial applications. The research method used in this research is the research and development (R&D) method. So the results obtained in this research are a mobile robotic training kit which is considered very practical by teachers with a percentage of 88.95%. It can be concluded that the mobile robotic training kit is very practical to use in the robotics learning process

Abstract

The problem in this study is that many students in the electrical power installation engineering (EPIE) class have not mastered the skills of electric motor control (EMC). This is because the teacher still uses traditional methods in the learning process. Namely, the teacher actively explains the material according to practical experience rather than referring to EMC learning objectives. This study aims to apply a variable speed drive (VSD) jobsheet based on project-based learning (PjBL) in the EMC learning process and measure the effectiveness of the jobsheet applied. The research method used was a pre-experiment with an intact group comparison research design. The research subjects were taken from 11th-grade students of vocational schools majoring in electrical power installation engineering and were assessed using a questionnaire instrument to evaluate students' EMC performance. Data analysis techniques used were independent t-test and effect size test. Based on the independent t-test analysis results, the t-value is larger than the t-table (t = 4.936 > 1.99962), and the significance value is 0.000, which shows a significant difference in skills between the experimental and control classes. Based on the effect size analysis, the value is 1.243, which means the jobsheet can improve students' EMC skills in the large category. Based on these two results, it is known that the PjBL-based VSD jobsheet is effective in the EMC learning process. Thus, it is expected that EPIE vocational high schools can use the PjBL-based VSD Jobsheet in the EMC learning process.

Abstract

Many students still achieved scores below the minimal completeness criteria when learning basic computer networks. This was because the teacher still uses traditional media, such as printed worksheets in the teaching process which made the learning boring and harder for students to comprehend what the teacher was teaching. Therefore, this research aimed to implement video-based learning within the educational process. This study employed a pre-experiment methodology by using a single pre- and post-test group. Thirty-three students majoring in computer and network engineering served as the research subjects. The paired sample t-test and N-gain score were the data analysis methods employed to examine the efficacy of the video-based instruction. The results demonstrated a significant improvement from students' knowledge before to that of after being engaged in video-based learning. Thus, it is possible to conclude that a video-based instruction can greatly enhance students' understanding on fundamental computer network science. According to the study's findings, the video-based learning ought to be incorporated into the curriculum of vocational education, particularly in the Department of Computer Network Engineering, to ensure that the students fully comprehend the subject matter and that the learning process runs smoothly.
