Abstract

Dynamic languages ​​follow a cycle that continues to develop. In the process, assimilation occurs which involves various language elements originating from local or foreign absorption in every language in the world. Including Indonesian, sometimes in its use it is assimilated with terms taken from foreign languages. This especially appears in informal spaces. Elements of foreign absorption, both from English and other foreign languages, color the course of people's language behavior. Another space that provides flexibility for seeding foreign absorption is in the media. Therefore, in this regard, the research aims to determine the process of absorption of local languages ​​into national languages. Meanwhile, the approach used is qualitative with a documentation study method. The research results show that the element of local absorption occurs because of the large number of media users in the wider community presented in the digital world. Absorption of foreign language elements is considered to improve social status because it can be interpreted as progress.

Abstract

Bahasa Inggris masih dianggap sebagai bahasa ketiga setelah bahasa persatuan Indonesia dan bahasa Ibu. Dalam kondisi saat ini, ketika berbagai daerah di seluruh dunia sudah terkoneksi ke dalam jaringan global, Bahasa Inggris mutlak dikuasai. Bahasa Inggris merupakan bahasa utama yang dapat menghubungkan seluruh warga dunia. Sebagai bahasa pengantar yang memudahkan terjadinya pertukaran berbagai potensi yang dimiliki sebuah desa, membuka peluang menumbuhkan minat warga dunia berkunjung, atau membuka kemungkinan investasi, atau bertransaksi membeli sumber kekayaan daerah. Karena itu, melalui kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dosen Sastra Inggris Universitas Kebangsaan Republik Indonesia bertujuan untuk memberikan keterampilan berbahasa Inggris kepada pemuda yang tergabung dalam Karang Taruna dan Ibu-ibu anggota Pembinaan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (PKK) desa Sunten Jaya Lembang Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Kegiatan PkM dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode ceramah dan diskusi untuk memberikan pemahaman dan pengajaran yang tepat berkenaan dengan simbol-simbol Bahasa Inggris yang harus dipahami. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini adalah muncul kesadaran perlunya memiliki keterampilan berbahasa Inggris, agar dapat mempromosikan Sunten Jaya sebagai kawasan pertanian yang layak dijadikan sebagai destinasi wisata.DOI: https://doi.org/10.32897/abdimasusb.v4i1.2699

Abstract

Judul penelitian ini adalah “Analisis Deiksis dalam Artikel The Jakarta Post (2016-2017) yang Ditulis oleh Gun Gun Haryanto”, yang membahas bahasa dan konteks melalui deiksis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dengan menganalisis pertanyaan penelitian, yaitu; (1) Jenis deiksis apa saja yang digunakan oleh Gun Gun Heryanto dalam empat artikel di The Jakarta Post yang diterbitkan pada periode 2016-2017? (2) Jenis deiksis apa yang dominan digunakan oleh Gun Gun Heryanto dalam artikel-artikel di The Jakarta Post yang diterbitkan pada periode 2016-2017? Teori utama yang digunakan adalah teori dari Levinson (1983). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada lima jenis deiksis yaitu deiksis personal, deiksis sosial, deiksis temporal, deiksis spasial, dan deiksis wacana. Deiksis yang dominan adalah deiksis personal dan deiksis sosial, yang berarti Gun Gun Haryanto cenderung menggunakan deiksis personal dalam menulis artikelnya sebagai politisi Indonesia.

Abstract

The development of information technology has brought significant changes to the dynamics of this nation’s life. Its utilization can transform societal habits, as it not only increases efficiency within work frameworks but also demands the application of professional ethics through more advanced computational linguistics in a digital society. This research aims to analyze the role of information technology in supporting the implementation of professional ethics and to identify the challenges and opportunities arising from the integration of technology in professional practices using computational linguistics. The methods used include literature studies, document analysis, and case reviews related to professional ethics in the digital era. The findings show that information technology contributes to strengthening ethical values such as transparency, accountability, and information openness. However, technology also presents risks, including privacy violations, data misuse, and decreased professional integrity if not accompanied by adequate supervision and digital literacy. These findings affirm that the implementation of professional ethics must progress in tandem with technological development through clear regulations, increased ethical awareness, and secure digital infrastructure support. Overall, this study emphasizes the importance of synergy between information technology and professional ethics to create a work environment that upholds integrity and earns public trust.

Abstract

Bahasa Inggris harus diperkenalkan sejak dini kepada anak-anak agar tidak asing ketika berinteraksi dengan dunia di luar lingkungannya. Keuntungan mengenal apalagi menguasai akan menjadi keunggulan bagi-anak-anak untuk bergaul lebih jauh dalam mengenali dunianya. Bahasa Inggris selain menunjukkan penggunanya, juga menjadi asal tempat pengguna. Dengan pengetahuan ini, anak-anak akan mengetahui kaidah berbahasa Inggris yang benar dan dapat menyerap sejak dini simbol-simbol yang dinyatakan dalam aktivitas keseharian. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) dosen dan mahasiswa Sastra Inggris ini dilakukan, dengan maksud agar anak-anak Paud Nurmaima Cibadak Kota Bandung mampu memahami secara benar penggunaan bahasa Inggris melalui pendampingan pengajaran bahasa Inggris.Tujuan PKM untuk memberikan pengetahuan secara dini penggunaan bahasa Inggris kepada anak-anak PAUD, dengan menggunakan metode STAR (Situation, Task, Activity, Result). Melalui metode STAR ini dapat dilihat perkembangan lebih lanjut dari proses pendampingan pengajaran hingga terbentuknya pengetahuan anak-anak dalam memahami bahasa Inggris. Hasil PkM adalah terbentuknya pemahaman dan pengetahuan dasar anak-anak mengenai simbol bahasa Inggris sehingga mengurangi kebingungannya dalam memahami lafal dan simbol yang berbeda dengan bahasa Ibu.

Abstract

Digitalization has brought significant changes to the teaching and learning process, especially in English language learning. By integrating technology and information communication into its activities, moreover, it provides opportunities to create more interactive and engaging learning. This community service carried out at SMP Plus Al Ittihat Garut aimed at improving digital literacy of the teachers and students. The program was conducted through seminars, workshops, and intensive mentoring methods to implement affectively the program. The results of the activity showed an increase in positive attitudes towards the use of technology, digital skills, and teachers' ability to integrate digital media into English language learning. However, the limited internet access, imbalance in the availability of digital devices, and low digital literacy among teachers and students were considered as major obstacles in optimizing activities and utilizing technology in their implementation at this school. Based on the responses and enthusiasm of teachers and students, this digital literacy activity required a good sustainability to support more effective, creative, and adaptive learning in the digital era so that it can be a strategic step in overcoming the technology gap and improving the quality of education in the rural areas with limited resources.

Abstract

This research was based on the Community Service Program activities in the program of Everyday English based on CLT held in the Saung Angkung Udjo tourist area. The purpose of this study was to describe the implementation of the program by observing the effectiveness of the CLT approach applied in order to improve the English communication skills of child performers. This study involved 30 performers aged 8–15 years who are active in angklung and Sundanese cultural arts performances. Observations and interviews were applied to gather data and information that support this research. The results of the activity showed that participants already have the basics of English, but still experience limitations in using the language communicatively. The results of the observation showed that after participating in the training, the performers showed better English skills and were more confident in conveying vocabulary in English to tourists. Thus, the Everyday English program based on CLT can be an applicable learning model in improving English communication competency in the context of cultural tourism in terms of improving the quality of interaction between artists and tourists.
