Abstract

Abstract: This English Literature research was aimed to analyze the biography William Faulkner for knowing the relationship about the social life William Faulkner with this novel and described the synopsis social racism conflict behind novel Intruder In the Dust written by William Faulkner. “Intruder In the Dust” was published in 1948 when United States of America was using The Jim Crow Laws. Jim Crow Laws is a social Laws rules with the white human dictator. Novel “Intruder In the Dust” Written by William Faulkner shows about social racism conflict in South and North America in colonial era.  This is a novel that was written at the very beginning of the civil rights movement and Faulkner sees into the near future. In his theory, the southern gentleman will not allow the black freedoms. The writer purposes this research for knowing William Faulkner purposed behind novel “Intruder In the Dust”. "Intruder In The Dust" diterbitkan pada tahun 1948 ketika Amerika Serikat menggunakan hukum Jim Crow. Hukum Jim Crow adalah aturan Hukum sosial dengan diktator manusia kulit putih. Novel “Intruder In The Dust” yang ditulis oleh William Faulkner menunjukkan tentang konflik rasisme sosial di benua Amerika Selatan dan Utara pada era kolonial. Ini adalah novel yang ditulis pada awal gerakan hak-hak sipil dan Faulkner melihat ke masa depan. Dalam teorinya, pria selatan tidak akan mengizinkan kebebasan orang kulit hitam. Penulis bermaksud membuat penelitian ini untuk mengetahui tujuan William Faulkner di balik novel "Intruder In The Dust". Abstract

Dalam penelitian kajian sastra khususnya analisa kajian semiotik terdapat berbagai macam kajian pendekatan seperti: prime signifier, paradigmatik sintakmatik, metonimi, metafora, intertekstual, dan kajian pendekatan semiotika sastra lainnya.Penulis dalam membahas penelitian sastra kali ini yang menggunakan kajian analisa semiotik membahas menggunakan kajian pendekatan semiotika intertekstual non fiksi, kajian yang bersifat membandingkan isi teks dari novel Ca Bau Kan karya Remy Silado dengan teks sejarah prostitusi di Batavia oleh Lamijo. Penulis kemudian menganalisa novel Ca Bau Kan dan teks sejarah prostitusi di Batavia oleh Lamijo menggunakan kajian pendekatan semiotika intertekstual empat kunci Levi Strauss dan pendekatan kajian semiotika intertekstualitas transposisi menurut Julia Kristeva.Penulis mencari beberapa prime signifier yang tampak di dalam cerita novel Ca Bau Kan dan teks Prostitusi di Batavia dan menarik kesimpulan dari analisa tersebut.

Abstract

Penulis akan menggunakan teori Linguistik terapan untuk menganalisis jurnalLinguistik. Penulis mencoba menjelaskan tentang Bahasa Inggris Komunikatif ataudalam bahasa Indonesia yang berarti Bahasa Inggris Komunikatif. Yang dimaksuddengan Bahasa Inggris Komunikatif adalah cara untuk belajar bahasa Inggrissecara komunikatif dan detail, atau dengan kata lain belajar bahasa Inggrisdengan bisa belajar lebih mudah dan menerapkannya dengan menggunakanberbagai metode pengajaran yang mudah diterapkan dan dipelajari oleh semuaorang dan kelompok. Teori Linguistik terapan adalah salah satu cabang ilmubahasa yang berkaitan dengan penerapan atau penggunaan bahasa. Linguistikterapan (applied linguistics) menjadi konsentrasi dalam jurusan bahasa dan sastrayakni minat penerjemahan, medis, forensik, leksikografi, sosiolinguistik, grafologi,mekanolinguistik, medikolinguistik, pembinaan bahasa, fonetik terapan, danpengajaran bahasa. Tentu saja metode dan teknik yang digunakan dalam belajarBahasa Inggris Komunikatif harus memiliki metode dan teknik pengajaran yangsangat baik dan mudah dipelajari serta diterapkan pada semua orang. Abstract

Deconstruction approach theory is a critical outlook concerned with the relationship between text andmeaning. It also as a strategy of rules for reading, interpretation, and writing. Deconstruction approachconsiders that language hasn’t a definite meaning or certain. Deconstruction essentially is a way how to read atext that subvert the notion (if it is only implicitly) that text has a foundation in the language system applicableto affirm the structure, wholeness, and meaning that has been stabilized (Abrams, 1981: 38). Deconstructivereadings, in contrast, treated works of art not as the harmonious fusion of literal and figurative meanings, butas instances of the intractable conflicts between meanings of different types. There is no idiom or linguisticforms meaning certain and definite. Deconstruction approach attacked the assumption that these structures ofmeaning were stable, universal, or a historical. This study was designed by using qualitative research model.Anna and the King novel will be analyzed by means of deconstruction approach with the title of my study : ABad Teacher and the Best King In Elisabeth Hand’s Anna and the King. My study are deconstruction researchmay consider by the multiple meanings of key words in a text, etymological relationships between words, andeven puns to show how the text speaks with different (and often conflicting) voices (Balkin 1990b; Balkin1989). This analysis according to the deconstruction analysis although it has been asserted that poststructuralism (in this case deconstruction is not an applicable method). I am sure it is possible to apply somebasic deconstructive moves to Elisabeth Hand text, which seems especially receptive, given its overtoppositions and emphasis on languageKey words: deconstruction approach theory, Anna and the King novel, qualitative research, post-structuralism.

Abstract

Penelitian terhadap karya sastra penting dilakukan untuk mengetahui relevansi karya sastra dengan kenyataan yang ada di dalam kehidupan masyarakat. Penulis pada penelitan ini akan mengkaji novel berjudul The Other Side of Midnight karya Sidney Sheldon menggunakan kajian teori sosiologi sastra menurut klasifikasi dari ahli sastra yang bernama Renne Wellek dan Austin Warren. Penulis memutuskan menggunakan judul penelitian: Kehidupan Tokoh Noelle Page Dalam Novel The Other Side of Midnight Karya Sidney Sheldon: Kajian Sosiologi Sastra. Penelitian ini membahas analisis kehidupan tokoh utama novel yang bernama Noelle Page. Setiap pengarang khususnya yang memiliki sifat idealis pasti memiliki teknik-teknik tertentu yang menjadi karakteristik tulisannya. Penulis novel The Other Side of Midnight, Sidney Sheldon memberikan gambaran detail yang sangat jelas dalam bentuk yang sangat konkret. Salah satu sisi hal ini memudahkan pembaca, namun di salah satu sisi yang lain hal ini sangat membatasi imajinasi pembaca mengenai penceritaan tentang tokoh-tokoh di dalam novel karya Sidney Sheldon tersebut. Abstract

In this Literature research, the researcher will analyze about the characterization from the several main character and Ivan Ilyich character analysis as the main character from the short stories: The Death of Ivan Ilyich Written by Leo Tolystoy. This short stories also has scores another triumph for Nobel Prize winner. This Short stories is the filled with Ivan Ilyich profound vision of life, as the honest Judgment of a high court prosecutor in 19th-century Russian miserable husband, the proud father, and upwardly-mobile member of Russia's professional class, the object of Tolstoy's unremitting satire. The researcher will completed the character explanation with the description about the several characterizations from the another main character base from the short story written by Leo Tolystoy. Short stories are short stories with a small page 20 until 50 pages, considerably longer, depicting a real life in a complex sequence of events. Rees states that short stories is the most widely being read of all kinds of literature (1973:106). The Literature research will analyze about the characterization from the several main character, and analyze the Ivan Ilyich character base from E.M. Foster (1927), and the Ivan Ilyich obsession base from the short stories with using the structural elements of literature study.

Abstract

English is still considered a third language after the unified language of Indonesia and mother tongue. In the current conditions, when various regions around the world are connected to a global network, English is absolutely mastered. English is the main language that can connect all citizens of the world. As a language of instruction that facilitates the exchange of various potentials owned by a village, opens opportunities to foster interest in visiting world citizens, or opens up investment possibilities, or transactions to purchase regional wealth resources. Therefore, through community service activities, the English Literature lecturer at the National University of the Republic of Indonesia aims to provide English language skills to youth who are members of Youth Organizations and mothers who are members of the Family Welfare Development (PKK) in Sunten Jaya Lembang village, West Bandung Regency. PkM activities are carried out using lecture and discussion methods to provide proper understanding and teaching regarding English symbols that must be understood. The results obtained from this activity are awareness of the need to have English language skills, in order to be able to promote Sunten Jaya as an agricultural area worthy of being used as a tourist destination.Keywords: English, promotion, tourism, potential, Sunten Jaya

Abstract

Tari topeng kacirebonan adalah salah satu peninggalan tradisi kebudayaan nenek moyang kita semenjak abad ke 12 di era kerajaan Majapahit, Pada saat tersebut tari topeng mulai diperkenalkan kepada keluarga kerajaan-kerajaan di daerah Majapahit dan sampai ke Demak. Dari Demak tarian ini terbawa bersama penyebaran pengaruh politik Demak. Demak yang pesisir ini memperluas pengaruh kekuasaan dan Islamisasinya di seluruh daerah pesisir Jawa, yang ke arah barat sampai di Keraton Cirebon dan Keraton Banten. Inilah sebabnya berita-berita Belanda menyebutkan keberadaan tarian in di Istana Banten. Banten dan Cirebon, sedikit banyak membawa kebudayaan Jawa-Demak, terbukti dari penggunaan bahasa Jawa lamanya. Tari topeng Cirebon mengundang tanda tanya akibat daya pesonanya yang tinggi, tidak saja di Indonesia tetapi juga di luar negeri. Tari Panji, yang merupakan tarian pertama dalam rangkaian Topeng Cirebon, adalah sebuah misterium. Sampai sekarang belum ada koreografer Indonesia yang mampu menciptakan tarian serupa untuk menandinginya. Penulis dalam artikel kebudayaan ini membatasi metode penelitian artikel ini dalam kajian teori kebudayaan analisis Text berdasarkan teori kebudayaan Prof. Mudjahirin Thohir dan permasalahannya tentang seputar pencarian makna dari simbol pada tari kacirebonan dengan menggunakan teori yang terkait serta bagaimana symbol-symbol itu di narasikan secara empiris terbatas pada tari topeng Cirebon. Kata kunci: Tari Topeng Kacirebonan, Kajian Teori Kebudayaan Analisis Text, Makna symbol.

Abstract: Sitiwinangun Cirebon Pottery or Sitiwinangun traditional pottery has a unique pottery craft product that has been started since prehistoric times until now. The people of Sitiwinangun village until now still believe that a ritual process is still needed for the Karuhun or their ancestors. The process of giving offerings to the spirits of the ancestors before making this Sitiwinangun Cirebon Pottery from prehistoric times until now is still very thick with animistic ritual processes. The motifs and uniqueness of Sitiwinangun pottery are indeed liked by many art lovers in Indonesia and several countries worldwide. So it is not surprising that after the ritual process is carried out before making pottery, the people of Sitiwinangun village strongly believe that the ritual must still be carried out so that the quality and aesthetics of their pottery work are of better quality. Based on the facts, antique and artistic souvenir collectors still widely hunted this pottery artwork. In the life of the Sitiwinangun village community. It is said that to produce an extraordinary quality of work, several rituals must be carried out. The author tries to analyze a Communication Science study using the study of Transcendental Communication Representation in the ritual activities of making Sitiwinangun Pottery in Sitiwinangun Village, Cirebon. Abstrak: Gerabah Sitiwinangun Cirebon atau Sitiwinangun gerabah tradisional mempunyai keunikan hasil kerajinan gerabah yang sudah dimulai sejak zaman prasejarah sampai sekarang. Masyarakat desa Sitiwinangun sampai saat ini masih percaya bahwa masih diperlukan suatu proses ritual kepada para Karuhun atau para leluhur mereka. Pada faktanya proses memberikan sesajen kepada arwah para leluhur sebelum membuat Gerabah Sitiwinangun Cirebon ini semenjak zaman prasejarah sampai dengan sekarang masih sangat kental dilaksanakan proses ritual yang bersifat animisme. Motive dan keunikan gerabah khas Sitiwinangun memang disukai banyak pecinta seni di Indonesia maupun di beberapa negara-negara di dunia ini. Maka tak heran setelah dilaksanakan proses ritual sebelum membuat gerabah masyarakat desa Sitiwinangun mereka sangat percaya bahwa pelaksanaan ritual masih harus tetap dilaksanakan agar kualitas dan estetika hasil karya gerabah mereka menjadi lebih baik kualitasnya. Berdasarkan fakta, karya seni gerabah ini sampai saat ini masih banyak diburu oleh para kolektor suvenir antik dan artistik. Dalam kehidupan masyarakat desa Sitiwinangun. Konon, untuk menghasilkan suatu kualitas karya yang luar biasa, ada beberapa ritual yang harus dijalani. Penulis mencoba menganalisa suatu penelitian Ilmu komunikasi dengan menggunakan kajian Representasi Komunikasi Transendental pada kegiatan ritual pembuatan Gerabah Sitiwinangun di Desa Sitiwinangun, Cirebon.

Abstract

No much people knows that’s a certain in the village at West Java Province Region with names the Sitiwinangun Village, Palimanan, Cirebon regency have the unique handicraft with the names Sitiwinangun handicrafts or Sitiwinangun traditional art ceramics have already started from the prehistory period till now. The Sitiwinangun traditional art ceramics its most popular into the several regions in Indonesia, even famously into China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Korea, and many other country in the world. The motive and unique the Sitiwinangun ceramics it’s very famous, and many Indonesian collectors likes to be collected. But, the results of Sitiwinangun ceramics have different qualities and quantities, and this handicraft have the unique aesthetics values too. It seems, for create the best qualities of Sitiwinangun traditional art ceramics must be have the several traditional ritualism. Because of the best qualities product, the traditional Sitiwinangun art ceramics become of the sources of the Indonesian incomes. This research is suitable with aesthetics values, promotion about the Sitiwinangun village, and surrounding, as well as the Sitiwinangun traditional art ceramics as one of the local tourist, and foreign countries tourist gifts from Cirebon, West Java province, Indonesia.
