Abstract

This study explores the significant role of English language usage in the production practices of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMES) in Indonesia, particularly focusing on how this linguistic choice reflects social identity within a globalized context. By examining prevalent English terms in product naming—such as "Ready Stock," "Fresh Milk," and "Mango Iced Tea"—the research reveals a deliberate strategy among MSMES producers to position their offerings as modern and appealing to contemporary consumers, especially younger demographics. Interviews with MSMES stakeholders indicate a strong belief that incorporating English enhances product appeal and improves production quantity, underscoring the language's perceived association with quality and sophistication. This dynamic aligns with sociolinguistic theories regarding language as a marker of social identity, where familiarity with English signifies higher social status and aspirational lifestyles. The findings illustrate how MSMES navigates cultural negotiation, blending local heritage with global trends to construct a distinct identity that resonates with both local and international markets. Ultimately, this study highlights the interplay between language, culture, and identity, demonstrating how English usage serves not only as a marketing tool but also as a mechanism for fostering innovation and cultural exchange within Indonesia's culinary landscape. By situating their products within a global narrative, MSMES producers affirm their roles as adaptive and forward-thinking members of an increasingly interconnected world.

Abstract

The national spirit must always live on in all phases of era development. Its importance is not merely to emphasize national identity, but as the most essential manifestation of Indonesianness. It is inconceivable that if the national identity is lost and replaced by foreign values, then gradually the characteristics of Indonesia will be lost or at least will not have a character that shows its identity in world relations. In reality, the tendency in this direction is getting stronger amidst the influx of foreign culture which permanently intrudes into all sectors of life. This includes the struggle for values brought by foreign nations as well as the agenda of world nations who are trying to become a force to subdue other nations. Also unavoidable is the power of the cronies of the superpowers who are only oriented towards business and profit without recognizing the boundaries of nationalism. Facing conditions like this, national awareness must always be fostered and become a source of pride and directed in the form of internalizing values within every member of the nation. In this regard, the study was structured as an effort within the framework of bringing national values to life. Through the method of observing developments in the national situation, literature studies adapted from materials spread across various internet networks are strengthened as data that strengthens the analysis. The result is that national values must be embedded in every citizen of the nation with the practice of the principles of Pancasila as the strengthening basis that unites Indonesia.

Abstract

Many foreign terms are found scattered in society where the society is still traditional. Especially the use of foreign terms taken from English which for some people are not very familiar to the public. These terms are scattered around and are used to label shops, cafes or stalls that provide local products to local consumers. It can be understood that the use of this term indicates the name of the trading activity or business activity carried out as an identity that shows the brand of the activity. This method is used as an effort to show that the stall or shop has its own class. There is pride for its users even though they actually show distrust and respect for their own language. Based on this reality, this study aims to clearly reveal the use of foreign terms used by local business people. The method used is descriptive qualitative to understand the issues that are the subject and object of the study. The results show that the use of foreign terms represents the social class of the users who come from the upper class with a fairly high economic and educational level.

Abstract

This research investigates the euphemism strategies employed by content creators in their movie reviews. Given the growing influence of online content creators on consumer behavior, it is crucial to examine how they utilize language techniques to shape their reviews. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study aims to identify the specific types and purposes of euphemisms used by content creators when evaluating films. The findings reveal that content creators primarily rely on the substitution and periphrasis types of euphemisms, where substitution involves replacing potentially offensive or sensitive terms with more palatable alternatives, and periphrasis uses roundabout expressions to convey meaning. Notably, the research also indicates that the primary purpose behind the use of these euphemistic techniques is to captivate the audience's attention. By mapping the euphemism strategies of content creators in the context of movie reviews, this study contributes to the broader understanding of euphemism usage across different domains, informing discussions on the ethical considerations and impact of language choices in influential digital content, and laying the groundwork for further exploration of euphemism practices in various content creation and communication settings

Abstract

Abstract: Low back pain (LBP) remains one of the most prevalent musculoskeletal complaints worldwide, especially among individuals with physically demanding activities. This case report discusses a 51-year-old woman who presented with five months of low back pain radiating to both legs. The symptoms intensified during prolonged sitting or standing and were relieved in a supine position. Her history of frequent heavy lifting was considered a contributing factor. Clinical findings were unremarkable for neurological deficits. Lumbosacral radiography demonstrated anterior osteophyte formation from L1 to L5 and narrowing of the intervertebral space at L5–S1, suggestive of lumbar spondylosis and suspected herniated nucleus pulposus. The patient received conservative treatment, including NSAIDs, muscle relaxants, and neurotropic agents, alongside physiotherapy and postural education. Early diagnosis and interdisciplinary management of chronic LBP are crucial in reducing the risk of long-term functional impairment. Keywords: Low Back Pain, Lumbar Spondylosis, Herniated Nucleus Pulposus.
