Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic condition that occurs when there is an increase in glucose levels in the blood because the body cannot produce enough insulin hormones effectively. Gorontalo Province is also an area where the prevalence of type 2 DM sufferers is quite high. This is caused by insufficient self-management and insufficient self-awareness to improve health. Improving the self-management of type 2 diabetes patients can be improved through a motivational interviewing program. The aim of this community service activity is to empower community cadres and social groups through a motivational interviewing program for people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The activity is carried out in two stages, in the first stage providing outreach in the form of lectures and discussions about type 2 diabetes mellitus and motivational program training interviewing. After that, cadres and community social groups provide assistance to type 2 diabetes mellitus patients for one week. Then in the second stage, the results of the mentoring are evaluated. The evaluation results showed that there was a decrease in blood sugar of 53.57 mg/dL. From the results of this activity, it can be concluded that the motivational interviewing program is recommended for self-management of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients

Abstract

Hypertension was one problem in health sector because of its high incidence rate worldwide, and until now still increasing. According to WHO data in 2015, around 1.13 billion people in the worldwide suffer hypertension. It was estimated that 1.56 billion adults in the world will hypertension by 2025. Based on national research data in 2018, Gorontalo Province was 20th position with the number of cases of hypertension. Adherence to taking medication was one of the problems in the treatment of this disease. However, this adherence could overcome through monitoring by members of family regarding treatment, and determining whether to use health services or not. This study aims to determine the relationship between role of family with compliance treatment of patients in the working area of community health centers of Telaga Biru, Gorontalo city. This study used cross sectional research design with purposive sampling technique. Total of 34 respondents with hypertension obtained then dianalysis using Chi Square test. The results of show that the calculated X2 value of 18.2 and greater than the X2 table with p value = 0.000 (p<0.05). These findings indicate that role of the family was very influential on the regularity level of treating hypertension patients in the working area of the Telaga Biru Health Center, Gorontalo city. We conclude that regular treatment could improved through the role and duties of the family in controlling patients with hypertension

Abstract

Bi’o is a traditional Gorontalo food for toddlers which predominantly contains carbohydrates because it is only made from sago and palm sugar. Cookies in a pot/pan while stirring until thick/cookies, cooled and then ready to be served. Bi’o modified from sago and palm sugar are added with HPI (hydrolysis of mackerel protein), eggs, butter, chocolate and chocochip into a dough, molded, baked for 30 minutes at 150 degrees Celcius and the results are called prokies (protein cookies). The objective of study was to analyze the acceptability of prokies for well-nourishe and malnourished toddlers. The method of study was experimental research design that analyzing the acceptability of prokies. The pediatrician performs a medical examination. There were 38 well-nourished toddler respondents 39 malnourished toddler who met the criteria. The results indicated that  the average acceptability for prokies in well-nourished toddlers on the firts day was 4.11±0.65 and on the thirtieth day 4.18±0.56, while malnutrition on the first day was 4.00±0.61 and on the thirtieth day 4.33±0,66 which showed there was no signifikan difference ( p value = 0,05). Likewise, the reason for score aceptance was because the taste, aroma, color and texture average >4.0. The conclution showed that  prokies were liked by normal nutrition and wasted nutrition toddlers because of  taste, aroma, color and texture that were eaten completely in the first day to the thirtieth day, so it can be used to overcame in nutritional problems.Bi’o merupakan makanan tradisional Gorotalo untuk balita, sebagian besar hanya mengandung karbohidrat karena terbuat dari sagu dan gula aren. Bi’o dimasak dalam panci/wajan sambil diaduk hingga kental/matang, didinginkan lalu siap dihidangkan. Bi’o yang dimodifikasi yakni menggunakan sagu dan gula aren ditambahkan dengan HPI (hidrolisis protein ikan tenggiri), telur, mentega, coklat dan chocochip menjadi adonan, dicetak, dipanggang selama 30 menit pada suhu 150 derajat Celcius dan hasilnya disebut prokies (protein cookies). Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk menganalisis daya terima prokies pada balita gizi baik dan gizi kurang. Desain penelitian menggunakan penelitian eksperimental dengan menganalisis daya terima prokies. Dokter anak melakukan pemeriksaan kesehatan. Responden balita gizi baik berjumlah 38 orang dan balita gizi kurang ada 39 orang yang memenuhi kriteria. Hasil penelitian  menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata tingkat kesukaan prokies balita gizi baik pada hari pertama adalah 4,11±0,65 dan pada hari ketiga puluh 4,18±0,56, sedangkan pada gizi kurang pada hari pertama adalah 4,00±0,61 dan pada hari ketiga puluh 4,33±0,66 yang menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan signifikan (p value = 0,05). Demikian pula, alasan kesukaan karena rasa, aroma, warna dan tekstur rata-rata >4,0. Kesimpulan menunjunkkan bahwa prokies disukai oleh balita gizi baik dan gizi kurang karena rasa, aroma, warna dan teksturnya serta dihabiskan sejak hari pertama hingga hari ketiga puluh sehingga dapat digunakan untuk mengatasi masalah gizi.
