Abstract

Maternal mortality is still a challenge for the health system in Indonesia, one of the causes is bleeding during pregnancy as a result of the 3 Late (3 T) namely: late in making a decision/diagnosing, being late in getting to the referral place and being late in getting treatment. Detection of 3T bleeding in pregnant women can be done by anyone, including cadres as the spearhead in assisting pregnant women because of their presence in the community. This study aimed to analyse the competence of cadres in detecting and managing bleeding pregnant women according to their duties in the community to prevent 3T, one of which is animation media for bleeding pregnant women. The research design was a pre-experimental design using a quasi-experimental design using a pre-test-post-test design descriptive statistical analysis with a cross-sectional approach, a sample of 60 cadres who met the inclusion criteria (30 Parangargo and 30 Sidorahayu) in the working area of ??the Wagir Public Health Center, Malang Regency. The results of the pre-test-post-test between the control group and the treatment group showed the independence of cadres in the treatment of bleeding to perform 3T (p-value <0.001) and an increase in independence towards independence in treatment with the use of animation media between the control and treatment groups (p-value 0.001), with the acceptance of H1, an animation method that can provide a deeper understanding of the differences in blood flow, the color that occurs in early or late pregnancy, so that cadres in management are related to preventing 3 T according to the role of cadres in the community by escorting them to the location health services/ report to the regional midwife. Abstract

Preconception health is a significant contributor to pregnancy outcomes. However, the majority of women only improve their health status after receiving counseling at the first antenatal visit or during pregnancy. This shows the need to identify preconception health through premarital screening. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the characteristics of preconception health of prospective brides in Malang Regency using "Elsimil Application". The assessment was carried out using a quantitative descriptive method with a secondary data analysis. The total sampling method was used for sample collection and data used were obtained from prospective brides who completed the premarital screening questionnaire on Elsimil Application. The variables assessed were prospective brides’ preconception health with several sub-variables. These included age, BMI, Hb levels, upper arm circumference, and smoking behavior, which were collected using an instrument in the form of a checklist table. The results of the descriptive statistical analysis, which included the frequency and percentage, showed that a significant proportion of prospective brides had preconception health state at risk (61.1%). Consequently, this study recommended the importance of strengthening preconception health services by providing education, which comprised accurate information, accessibility, and required improvement, particularly for prospective brides and grooms in rural areas.

Abstract

Adolescent girls are particularly vulnerable to anemia as they undergo rapid growth during puberty, which increases their iron requirements to support this growth. Several factors contribute to the occurrence of anemia, including the habitual consumption of iron-inhibiting substances such as caffeine and poor sleep quality. This study aimed to investigate the effects of caffeine consumption habits and sleep quality on hemoglobin levels among adolescent girls aged 15-18 at SMAN 8 Malang. The research design was analytical with a cross-sectional method. The sampling technique used was two-stage clustering random sampling. Data collection involved the use of the SQ FFQ, PSQI questionnaires, and the Point Care of Testing (POCT) method for hemoglobin level analysis, which was analyzed using Spearman rank correlation and logistic regression tests. The results of the Spearman rank correlation test revealed a relationship between caffeine consumption habits and hemoglobin levels (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05), sleep quality and hemoglobin levels (p-value = 0.005 < 0.05), and no relationship between caffeine consumption and sleep quality (p-value = 0.646 > 0.05). The logistic regression test showed a significant effect of caffeine consumption habits and sleep quality on hemoglobin levels in adolescent girls (significant value 0.000 < 0.05).

Abstract

Background: Stunting is a serious problem in fetuses and children up to the age of two, as it can increase infant mortality rates, morbidity, developmental disorders, and lead to low adult productivity. Stunting occurs due to a lack of knowledge about stunting prevention, starting from the preconception period. Therefore, counseling and education for prospective newlyweds are essential components in improving knowledge. This study aimed to determine the effect of educational e-booklet media on the knowledge of prospective newlyweds regarding stunting prevention at the Office of Religious Affairs in the Bululawang District. Methods: The research design used in this study was pre-experimental with a One Group Pre-Test Post-Test approach, involving 30 prospective newlyweds who met the inclusion criteria and were selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected by administering research questionnaires before and after providing educational media. Results: Bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test showed that there was an effect of educational e-booklet media on the improvement of knowledge about stunting prevention among prospective newlyweds (p-value less than 0,05). Therefore, health education on stunting prevention needs to be provided for prospective newlyweds.
