Abstract

In large metro areas such as Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, and Bekasi, the electric train (KRL) is a popular means of transportation because it runs quickly and on time despite being crowded. To help prevent the sexual harassment of female passengers, some KRL carriages are designated specifically for women. This study examines differences in female KRL passengers’ anxiety about sexual harassment in mixed carriages and women-only carriages on the Bogor–Jakarta route (n = 100) and Bekasi – Jakarta route (n = 110), using the Anxiety About Sexual Harassment Scale (Leitenberg & McNeil, 1990; Dacey, 2000). Significant differences in anxiety about sexual harassment were found among women who rode in women-only versus mixed carriages on the Bogor–Jakarta route but not on the Bekasi–Jakarta route. However, in general, participants who rode women-only carriages had higher anxiety than those who rode mixed carriages. This finding was confirmed by interviews with 35 female passengers (7 from the Bogor–Jakarta route, 28 from the Bekasi–Jakarta route). Some women expressed a preference for riding mixed cars because male passengers made room for them to enter or exit the cars and offered them seats. Meanwhile, some participants reported not choosing women-only carriages because the other passengers behaved aggressively.

Abstract

Sleep is one of the basic human needs and plays a role in physical and mental health and quality of life. Lack of sleep tends to cause decreased concentration, fatigue, and decreased productivity, and students tend to have poor sleep quality due to stress from lectures and writing a thesis. The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in sleep quality of students when writing a thesis which were reviewed based on the scientific field they had. This study used a quantitative method by using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) in Indonesian as a measurement sleep quality. The respondents in this study were 200 students obtained through purposive sampling techniques. The results showed that there was no difference in the sleep quality of final year students in the natural and social sciences. The level of stress felt by final year students in both scientific fields due to the pressure of the final thesis assignment seemed to be the reason why there was no difference in the quality of sleep they had.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of job satisfaction on psychological well-being among Indonesian Special Needs School (SLB) teachers, a group facing unique professional demands. Despite prior research linking job satisfaction and well-being in general populations (e.g., Tenggara et al., 2008), SLB teachers remain understudied despite their critical role and challenges (Firmansyah & Widuri, 2014). Using purposive sampling, data from 116 SLB teachers were collected via Ryff’s Psychological Well-Being Scales and Job Satisfaction Survey, and analyzed through simple linear regression. Results confirmed a significant positive effect (p=0.000), with job satisfaction explaining 27.9% of well-being variance, while demographic factors (e.g., education level, marital status) further influenced outcomes. Psychological well-being was high overall, but job satisfaction averaged medium, highlighting gaps in institutional support. The study contributes to industrial-organizational and positive psychology literature by empirically validating this relationship in SLB teachers and suggesting targeted interventions (e.g., improved salaries, social support) to enhance their welfare.

Abstract

Accidents are often caused by the driver himself, other people, or even the circumstances while driving. Even emotions influence behavior while driving. Individual factors relate to personality type. This research aims to determine the influence of agreeableness and neuroticism personality types on driving risks mediated by driving safety attitudes. The methods used in this research are experiments and surveys. The experimental tool used in this research is a driving simulator with the help of Urban Driving software. The experimental group was treated with a traffic volume and pedestrian density of 75%, and the control group was treated with a traffic volume of 50%. The measurement instruments used in this study consisted of a measure of risky driving behavior, a measure of aggressive driving behavior, a measure of agreeableness and neuroticism from the Big Five Scale, and attitudes towards safe driving. Thirty participants in this study were divided into two groups, namely the experimental and the control groups, with 15 participants. Based on the regression results of each group. The regression results show an influence of agreeableness and neuroticism mediated by driving safety attitudes on driving risks in the experimental and control groups; however, both groups have indirect impacts. These results prove that personality type greatly influences driving risk, mediated by driving safety attitudes.
