Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the inquiry learning model on the critical thinking skills of junior high school students in social studies subjects the theme of the dynamics of population and national development. The method used was Quasi Experimental method with the Pretest-posttest control group design. The learning model applied to the experimental group was the inquiry model, while the control group was the Problem Base Learning. Subjects were students of class VIII A (experiment) and VIII B (control) at State Junior High School of Probolinggo City academic year of 2018/2019. Data were collected using observation technique, and then analyzed statistically using t-Test on the SPSS program. The results on the posttest data demonstrated a significance (and were supported by the descriptive analysis in which the posttest mean score of the experimental group was higher than the control group

Abstract

Objective: This research try to identify the condition of circular migration still exist in Surabaya particularly weekly and monthly shuttle migrants and the settled migrants. The research was to examine demographic of the migrant students of State University of Surabaya Campus and their impact on the organizational culture. Furthermore, the study aimed at establishing whether economic characteristics and different demographic factors, to name but employment status of parents, wages, and region of origin of the migrants affected circular migration and joining organizations. Method: In this research, a survey was administered in the year 2023, out of which seven factors were selected under the two broad headings of economic and demographic factors. For descriptive analysis, the probit analysis was performed while for estimation of the impact of the above independent variables, the regression analysis with Stata 10 based on Linear Probability Model (LPW) was conducted. Results: The findings of the result indicated that employment in service sector and urban origin has a positive and significant effect of the participation in circular migration and joining organisations. On the other hand, employment in the industrial sector and parents’ greater distance are factors that inherently reduce this option. Therefore, the last analysis revealed that both parent wages and trade employment have a relatively little impact on organizational membership and migration, but gender does not have such an impact. Novelty:  The current work is an effort to unfold some aspects of circular migration which has not received much attention in the existing literature with the focus on the city of Surabaya. It alone focuses on how economic and demography variable, thus employment status of parents and wages, and urban/rural background, moreover influences circular migration and organisational participation of the students at the State University of Surabaya. This study uses more sophisticated method of probit analysis and Linear Probability Model (LPW) to identify the nature of these variables affecting migration behaviour with a clear differentiation between the service sector and the industrial sector, and impact of the population density of urban centres.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis perbandingan antara Kurikulum 2013 (K13) dan Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar (KMB) dalam konteks pendidikan di Indonesia. Metode penelitian melibatkan studi literatur, analisis dokumen resmi, dan evaluasi pendapat para ahli pendidikan. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa KMB menawarkan pendekatan pembelajaran yang lebih inklusif, fleksibel, dan berbasis teknologi. Ini menciptakan lingkungan pembelajaran yang dinamis dan relevan bagi siswa. Meskipun K13 menekankan pengembangan karakter, KMB menonjol dengan pendekatan inovatif dan adaptif, terutama dalam pembelajaran berbasis proyek dan integrasi teknologi. Disimpulkan bahwa KMB lebih sesuai untuk masa depan pendidikan di Indonesia. Namun, tantangan implementasi perlu diperhatikan untuk memastikan kualitasnya. Penelitian lanjutan dapat mengungkap lebih lanjut tentang strategi implementasi yang efektif dan dampak jangka panjang dari penerapan KMB dalam sistem pendidikan Indonesia.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas kegiatan sosialisasi dalam pencegahan bullying di kalangan siswa SMP di SMP 14 Seluma, yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan pemahaman siswa mengenai bullying serta mengubah iklim sekolah menjadi lebih inklusif dan mendukung. Kegiatan sosialisasi melibatkan berbagai metode, termasuk pelatihan untuk guru, ceramah, diskusi kelompok, dan simulasi situasi bullying, yang dirancang untuk memberikan pemahaman mendalam dan keterampilan praktis kepada siswa. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kesadaran dan pemahaman siswa tentang bullying, serta peningkatan responsivitas mereka dalam mengatasi situasi perundungan. Dampak positif juga terlihat pada perubahan iklim sekolah, dengan penurunan jumlah laporan kasus bullying dan peningkatan interaksi sosial yang lebih positif di antara siswa. Keterlibatan dan dukungan aktif dari pihak sekolah, termasuk guru dan staf, berkontribusi besar terhadap keberhasilan kegiatan sosialisasi. Keberhasilan ini menegaskan pentingnya pendekatan holistik dan partisipatif dalam pencegahan bullying serta menjadi contoh bagi sekolah lain dalam menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang aman dan mendukung.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the correlation between the intensity of social media use and political participation among Generation Z in Indonesia. The increasing digital political engagement among youth highlights the need for a quantitative approach to empirically examine this phenomenon. Using a correlational quantitative method, data were collected through an online survey involving 412 Generation Z respondents from various regions in Indonesia. Pearson correlation and simple linear regression were employed as the main analytical techniques, validated by normality, linearity, and homogeneity tests. The findings reveal a positive and significant correlation (r = 0.622; p < 0.05) between the intensity of social media use and the level of political participation. Social media intensity explains 38.7% of the variance in political participation. These results are interpreted through Manuel Castells’ Network Society theory, which explains how digital connectivity shapes new, horizontal modes of political communication. The study contributes theoretically to understanding the transformation of political participation in the networked society and offers practical insights for developing digital political education and youth engagement strategies in the era of digital democracy.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa dan guru di Community Learning Centre (CLC) Hanim, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, mengenai tiga dosa besar dalam dunia pendidikan, yaitu perundungan (bullying), intoleransi, dan kekerasan seksual. Sasaran kegiatan adalah siswa jenjang SMP dan guru yang bertugas di CLC tersebut. Metode pelaksanaan PKM dilakukan secara partisipatif dan edukatif melalui pendekatan emotional-demonstratif (emodemo), yang dikemas dalam rangkaian kegiatan berupa pretest, pemberian materi tematik, praktik emodemo, dan posttest. Materi yang disampaikan mencakup pengenalan konsep tiga dosa besar pendidikan, pelatihan mengidentifikasi kasus yang relevan, dan ajakan untuk menghapus praktik-praktik kekerasan dalam konteks pendidikan, termasuk isu pekerja anak. Hasil pretest menunjukkan tingkat pemahaman awal siswa masih relatif rendah dengan rata-rata skor 32,6. Setelah mengikuti kegiatan, hasil posttest menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dengan rata-rata skor 73,6. Peningkatan ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan yang digunakan berhasil dalam menyampaikan materi dan membangun kesadaran siswa. Kegiatan PKM ini menyimpulkan bahwa penyampaian nilai-nilai pendidikan antikekerasan melalui metode emodemo mampu membentuk pemahaman dan sikap positif siswa terhadap isu-isu krusial dalam dunia pendidikan. Selain itu, keterlibatan guru dalam kegiatan ini berpotensi mendorong keberlanjutan program melalui integrasi materi ke dalam proses pembelajaran reguler. PKM ini memberikan kontribusi nyata terhadap penguatan budaya sekolah yang aman, inklusif, dan bebas dari kekerasan.
