Abstract

AbstractOne of the high school chemistry materials that contains concrete concepts, abstracts andinvolves mathematical calculations is solubility and solubility product (Ksp). Conceptualunderstanding is usually expressed in short sentences while understanding algorithms isexpressed by mathematical equations. Both of these understandings are closely related to oneanother so that to teach them requires the right learning strategies. Guided inquiry learningstrategies and Problem Solving are thought to be able to improve the conceptual understandingand algorithm understanding of students with Low Scientific Thinking Ability. This study aimsto determine differences in conceptual understanding with algorithm understanding of studentswith KBIR that are taught with guided inquiry strategies and Problem Solving. This study usesa quasi-experimental design with posttest only control group design. Data from the conceptualunderstanding and algorithm test results obtained from the test using 20 multiple choicequestions with a reliability coefficient of 0.71 and content validity of 93.17%. Data analysisusing t test and Product Moment correlation at a significance level of 5%. The results show thatThe learning outcomes of student with low scientific thinking ability that learned by guidedinquiry’s strategy is higher than the students that learned by problem solving’s strategy and Theunderstanding of algorithms of students with low scientific thinking ability is higher thanconceptual understanding both of which that learned by guided inquiry strategies and problemsolving strategies.Keywords: guided inquiry, problem solving, conceptual understanding, algorithmunderstanding, scientific thinking ability

Abstract

Abstract: Chemistry is divided into two concepts, namely concrete and defined concepts. Geometry Molecul is one of the defined concepts because the idea is at the molecular level and is invisible to the eye. So, to understand the material molecular shape requires spatial-visual intelligence. Therefore, to determine the effect of the TGT-Puzzle cooperative learning strategy on spatial-visual intelligence on the geometry molecul, this study was conducted. The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not there was an increase in spatial-visual intelligence after being taught using the TGT-Puzzle cooperative learning strategy in class X IPA MA Hidayatul Ummah Pringgoboyo. This study uses an inferential statistical method using the paired sample t-test to determine whether or not there is an increase in visual-spatial intelligence after being taught using the TGT-Puzzle cooperative learning strategy. The analysis technique uses a paired sample t-test with a significance value (sig) < 0.05. The results of this study indicate an increase in spatial-visual intelligence scores after being taught using the TGT-Puzzle cooperative learning strategy, where if there is an increase in the category from average to high average or high average to superior. Abstract

This research's background is the importance of understanding the concept of chemical equilibrium material to understand the complex chemical interactions. This material is seen as one of the most difficult subjects in learning chemistry at the school and university level, so it requires a good understanding of studying it. A good and appropriate understanding of learning chemistry requires scientific thinking skills. This study aimed to analyze the effect of guided inquiry learning models based on multiple representations on student learning outcomes in chemical equilibrium material. The design of this study used a Pre-Experimental Design with a One-Shot Case Study model. The subjects in this study were 25 students of the Chemistry Education program at Billfath University who took the Basic Chemistry course. The data was collected using the Classroom Test of Scientific Reasoning (CTSR) instrument and test questions on the learning outcomes of chemical equilibrium material. The data analysis technique in this study used a non-parametric statistical test with a t-test. The results showed (1) the learning outcomes of students with high scientific thinking skills were higher than students with low scientific thinking skills, (2) there was a significant effect of the guided inquiry learning model based on multiple representations on student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Pandemi virus Corona yang melanda Indonesia sejak tahun 2020 memberikan dampak nyata khususnya pada bidang Pendidikan. Kondisi ini mengakibatkan adanya pembatasan kegiatan bimbingan tatap muka dalam pendampingan KSM. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan ketrampilan kepada siswa tentang penalaran jawaban dari soal dan pemahaman materi sains yang menyeluruh dikaitkan dengan agama serta nilai keislaman. Metode yang dilakukan dalam kegiatan ini adalah melalui pendampingan menggunakan pendekatan pembelajaran hybrid, yaitu pendampingan melalui tatap muka langsung dan secara daring menggunakan Grup Whatsapp. Kegiatan pendampingan ini dilakukan pada kelas V dan VI di MI Al-Khoiriyah 1 Delegan. Jumlah siswa sasaran adalah 4 orang siswa yang terpilih dan terbagi dalam kelompok IPA dan Matematika untuk mewakili dalam kegiatan KSM. Hasil dari pendampingan menunjukkan peningkatan penguasaan konsep materi dan ketrampilan menjawab siswa yang ditunjukkan dengan nilai rata-rata 82. Selain itu siswa juga dapat lebih memahami konsep sains yang diberikan dan integrasinya dengan agama.  Kata kunci: pendampingan; KSM; pendekatan hybrid; covid-19.

Abstract

Abstract. The change in the educational paradigm in the 21st century requires students to have good basic knowledge and understanding to develop Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Chemical equilibrium is an abstract material and complex, so it requires good thinking skills to understand the concepts. This Study aims to determine the effect of the application of guided inquiry models on HOTS in chemical equilibrium. This research uses Pre-Experimental Design with One Shot Case Study model with 25 students of Billfath University as subjects. The data were collected using the HOTS test instrument in the form of 15 multiple choice questions. Hypothesis testing used the Independent Sample T-test (non-parametric). The results showed (1) the high-level learning outcomes of students with high initial abilities were better than students with low initial abilities, (2) there was a significant effect of applying the model Guided inquiry learning towards student high-level learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the chemical literacy level of students on Physical Chemistry course, especially in Thermochemisty. Chemical literacy is a major goal in chemistry education recently. The measuring of chemical literacy level in this study used a chemical literacy instrument developed based on Shwartz, et.al framework. The instrument measure students' chemical literacy skills at each level. There are 4 levels of literacy that are measured, namely nominal literacy (level 1), functional literacy (level 2), structural literacy (level 3) and multi-dimensional literacy (level 4). The objects in this study were 14 first year students of Billfath University who took Physical Chemistry course. The data were collected after student got the Thermochemistry subject. The measurement results show that 14.29% of students reach level 3, 71.42% of students reach level 2 and 14.29% of students reach level 1. These results indicate that there is no student that able to reach the highest level 4. Overall, the chemical literacy level of first year students in the Physical Chemistry course is classified as low level. These results allow further development in learning to increase students' chemical literacy level.

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) integrated learning on the material of molecular form for Class X MA Al-Khoiriyah students. The research design used in this research is descriptive analysis. The stages of this research consist of 3 (three) stages, namely pre-research, testing the validation of research tools, and implementing STEM integrated learning. As for knowing the effectiveness is measured by indicators, namely the level of student learning completeness after integrated STEM learning activities and the resulting STEM products. From the analysis of the final test, it can be seen that of the ten students who were the research subjects, 80% had achieved completeness and the resulting STEM product was in the good category so it can be concluded that STEM integrated learning is effectively used in molecular geometry learning. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas penggunaan metode inkuiri terbimbing dengan pendekatan intertekstual untuk meningkatkan pemahaman multi representasi mahasiswa Pendidikan Kimia pada materi Termokimia. Rancangan penelitian ini menggunakan analisis deskriptif serta menggunakan instrumen tes diagnostik Two-tier untuk mengetahui skor hasil belajar mahasiswa Pendidikan Kimia. Hasil penelitian menujukkan bahwa penggunaan model inkuiri terbimbing dengan pendekatan intertekstual dalam pembelajaran mampu meningkatkan pemahaman konsep mahasiswa yang dapat dilihat dari skor hasil belajar.

Abstract

Ilmu kimia terbagi menjadi dua konsep, yaitu konsep konkret dan terdefiinisi. Bentuk molekul merupakan salah satu konsep terdefinisi karena gagasannya berada pada tingkat molekuler dan tidak kasat mata. Sehingga, untuk memahami materi bentuk molekul dibutuhkan kecerdasan spasial-visual. Oleh sebab itu untuk mengetahui hubungan kecerdasan spasial-visual dan prestasi belajar pada materi bentuk molekul dilakukan dalam penelitian ini. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya korelasi antara kecerdasan spasial-visual dengan prestasi belajar siswa kelas X IPA MA Hidayatul Ummah Pringgoboyo pada materi bentuk molekul. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode statistik inferensial dengan menggunakan statistik korelasi regresi untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya korelasi antara kecerdasan spasial-visual dengan prestasi belajar. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan tidak terdapat korelasi antara kecerdasan spasial-visual dengan prestasi belajar, hal ini dimungkinkan karena tidak hanya kecerdasan spasial-visual yang berperan dalam meningkatkan prestasi belajar.

Abstract

Ni-doped MOF-5s were successfully synthesized by the solvothermal method for 12 hours at 140 °C. The mmol ratio of Ni/Zn was varied, i.e 0,05 and 0,1, to study the effect of Ni(II)-doped on the formation of MOF-5 materials. The Ni-MOF-5 materials were characterized using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX). The XRD patterns and morphology of the Ni-MOF-5 were similar to that of synthesized MOF-5 and standard. The results of SEM-EDX showed that nickel was found in the Ni-MOF-5.
