Abstract

Membaca nyaring adalah kegiatan membaca yang dilakukan dengan cara mengeluarkan suara atau melafalkan setiap kata, frase dan kalimat dari bacaan dengan nada dan intonasi yang tepat agar pembaca dan pendengar mengetahui dan memahami informasi yang disampaikan oleh penulis. Oleh karena itu pemilihan pendekatan pembelajaran yang tepat sangat menentukan tingkat pencapaian siswa dalam membaca nyaring. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan rancangan pengembangan bahan  ajar membaca nyaring dengan menggunakan pendekatan whole language pada siswa kelas II SD IT Siti Khadijah Tanjung Morawa dan untuk mendeskripsikan validasi desain pengembangan bahan ajar membaca nyaring dengan menggunakan pendekatan whole language pada siswa kelas II SD IT Siti Khadijah Tanjung Morawa . Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode deskriptif, dan dilaksanakan dengan 6 yaitu: tahap pengumpulan informasi, analisis kebutuhan, merancang prototipe, validitas prototipe, revisi prototipe, dan produk akhir. Prodak hasil pengembangan bahan ajar membaca nyaring dengan menggunakan pendekatan whole language untuk siswa kelas II SD IT Siti Khadijah Tanjung Morawa ini adalah media ajar feltboard display. Hasil presentase penilaian prototipe bahan ajar membaca nyaring dengan pendekatan whole language dari ahli materi 93,18%, dan guru 92.7%. Hasil uji coba prodak terhadap siswa 80,06% Rerata dari ketiga penilaian  adalah 88,64%. Angka tersebut menunjukkan bahwa prototipe sudah termasuk dalam kriteria baik dan sudah sesuai dengan hasil analisis kebutuhan dan penilaian ahli.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the use of code mix in TikTok content, identify the types of code mix used, and find out the impact of the use of code mix on online communication.The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. The data was obtained from TikTok content containing code mixes in Indonesian and other languages.The data collection technique used is documentation technique and the data analysis technique includes data presentation and conclusion drawing.The findings show that various types of code mixes are used in TikTok content: inward code mix, outward code mix, and mixed code mix.The forms of code mix found include words, phrases, clauses, and idioms.The use of code mix in TikTok content has several functions, including expressing emotions, showing identity, and creating familiarity. However, excessive use of code-mixing can affect online communication, making messages difficult to understand, reducing the clarity of information, and reducing communication effectiveness.

Abstract

Culture is an activity that is carried out by the community repeatedly and becomes the basis for behavior, not only seen as a work or idea which then becomes a cultural object such as art or tools and other objects that reflect an area. Therefore, preserving adat is important for the people. One of the efforts made is through oral tradition. The purpose of this research is to look at efforts to preserve the traditional marriage traditions of Sibolga- Central Tapanuli ethnic through oral tradition. This study applies a qualitative approach that aims to describe the description of the phenomenon of the variables studied. To describe the variables of this study, the data used consisted of primary data through interviews with informants and secondary data obtained from books or records that explained the implementation of the traditional Sibolga-Central Tapanuli ethnic marriage. The instruments used to collect data consisted of interviews and observation sheets. After the data is collected, the data is then analyzed through a process of data reduction and data interpretation. Based on the results of observations made during the research, some information was obtained that oral traditions were still effectively carried out in an effort to preserve the customs and culture of an ethnic group. Techniques that can be taken in efforts to inherit culture are through natural inheritance which is carried out by the older generation to the younger generation through the implementation of culture which can be witnessed by the younger generation. Traditional leaders through traditional institutions will continue to make efforts so that their customs and culture are passed on to the younger generation through various means, such as publishing books on customary practices, providing studios for young people to practice their ethnic arts, and providing guidance in implementing culture.

Abstract

Long prose essay novels tell about human life, the surrounding community and highlight the character and characteristics of each actor. Values give meaning to life, provide reference, starting point and purpose of life. Character is the value of kindness in the form of action or behavior. The purpose of this research is to know the character value of filial piety to parents. The method used in this research is using descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques are carried out by reading and understanding the data obtained. The data analysis techniques used are: Reading novels, Describing novels, Analyzing, identifying novels, Taking and compiling conclusions. The data source for this research is the novel Ibuk. This novel will be the author's main study. The results of this study concluded that there were  footage containing aspects of obeying parents,  footage containing aspects of respect, footage containing aspects of lightening the burden on parents, and footage containing aspects of serving parents. Iwan Setyawan conveys many useful character values for readers by bringing the novel's story to life.

Abstract

Acquiring the skill of listening to and comprehending spoken language is one of the first steps towards acquiring a language. The next stage is to follow along, get into the habit, and use it in daily life. Since reading and listening need the understanding of language without the production of it, they are regarded as receptive abilities. These abilities require the ability to absorb and understand linguistic input. One way that helps improve pupils' speaking and listening abilities is the word-guessing method. This approach encourages dialogue, which is ideal for developing speaking abilities during the educational process. Students can improve their speaking skills by actively participating in it and being engaged.The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of this approach.

Abstract

This research is a R & D research aimed at producing drama teaching materials based on AI script generator for use in drama learning for students of the English literature study program UMN al-Washliyah, developing drama teaching materials based on AI script generator to improve students' understanding of writing drama script by using technology, testing the validity and testing the effectiveness of AI based script generators. The result from the research is mean value before using AI script generator-based drama material = 32.5 and mean value after using AI scripts- based drama materials = 42.5 so there is an increase of 10. The validity of the material on the test of the drama material based on AI script generator obtained a 70,5% percentage result with a good category, so it can be concluded that the development of the AI based script material generator deserves and effective to be used in the drama course.

Abstract

Reading comprehension is crucial for learning English, and teachers need to improve their teaching methods. Outcome-Based Education focuses on essential skills for students to succeed, requiring creativity in delivering learning materials using interesting media and methods. The research focused on the development, validation, and effectiveness of reading comprehension materials using Outcome-Based Education (OBE) for Grade Eleventh students at SMA AL WASHLIYAH 12 SEI RAMPAH. The study involved 15 students and used various techniques, including study literacy, interviews, observation, group discussion, and documentation. The research using quantitative descriptive techniques that described the application of learning media. The results showed successful development with an average increase of 9.13% and a passing rate of 86.66%. The method was also proven valid with an average score of 4.1 and effective with an Ngain percentage score of 81.94%.

Abstract

This study examines the semiotic meanings in Michael Jackson’s music videos Leave Me Alone, Earth Song, and Heal the World using Ferdinand de Saussure’s theory of the signifier and the signified. Through a qualitative descriptive method, the research analyzes lyrics and visual elements to uncover symbolic messages related to media criticism, environmental issues, and global unity. The findings reveal that each video conveys powerful social and emotional narratives: Leave Me Alone critiques celebrity culture, Earth Song protests environmental destruction, and Heal the World promotes peace and compassion. These videos function as visual texts that reflect social realities and serve as tools for cultural communication.

Abstract

This research and development (R&D) study aimed to develop, validate, and test the effectiveness of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) based reading comprehension materials for eleventh-grade students. Recognizing that reading comprehension is a critical yet challenging skill, this study addressed the need for more creative and effective teaching methods. OBE, which focuses on organizing the educational system around essential outcomes students must achieve, was employed as the foundational framework. The study followed the Borg & Gall R&D cycle. The population was students of SMK AL WASHLIYAH 12 SEI RAMPAH, with a sample of 15 students from class XI-1 selected as the experimental group. Data were collected through literacy studies, interviews, observations, group discussions, and documentation. Material validation was analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques, resulting in an average validity score of 4.1, indicating a "good" level of quality. The effectiveness of the developed materials was determined using the N-gain score. The results demonstrated a significant improvement, with an average increase of 9.13% in learning outcomes and a classical passing rate of 86.66%. The N-gain score of 81.94% further confirms the high effectiveness of the OBE-based materials. It was concluded that the developed reading comprehension materials are both valid and effective, making them a viable tool for enhancing English reading instruction and achieving defined learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study investigates the patterns and functions of code-switching in English learning at MTs Amin Darussalam, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through classroom observations, audio recordings, and interviews with eighth-grade students during the 2025/2026 academic year. The analysis followed Miles and Huberman’s framework, focusing on data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Findings reveal three main types of code-switching: inter-sentential, intra-sentential, and tag switching, with inter-sentential switching being the most frequent. Teachers primarily used code-switching to explain lessons, clarify meanings, and manage classroom interaction, while students employed it to overcome vocabulary limitations and enhance self-expression. Tag-switching served to seek confirmation and maintain classroom rapport. Overall, code-switching was found to facilitate comprehension, build confidence, and create a supportive learning environment. The study concludes that code-switching is a natural and effective communicative strategy in bilingual classrooms.
