Abstract

Penggunaan bahasa gaul dan istilah asing semakin marak di kalangan Generasi Z, terutama melalui media sosial dan komunikasi digital. Fenomena ini memicu kekhawatiran terkait menurunnya kemampuan berbahasa Indonesia yang baku dalam konteks akademik dan formal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pola penggunaan bahasa gaul dan istilah asing serta dampaknya terhadap keterampilan berbahasa baku generasi muda. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara dengan mahasiswa Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara serta observasi terhadap interaksi Generasi Z di media sosial seperti TikTok, Instagram, dan Twitter. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga mengkaji literatur terkait untuk memperkuat analisis fenomena yang terjadi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahasa gaul dan istilah asing digunakan secara luas dalam komunikasi sehari-hari Generasi Z, terutama dalam interaksi informal. Faktor utama yang mendorong fenomena ini adalah pengaruh media sosial, tren budaya populer, serta kebutuhan akan komunikasi yang lebih cepat dan praktis. Meskipun memberikan fleksibilitas dalam ekspresi bahasa, penggun aan bahasa gaul secara berlebihan berdampak negatif terhadap keterampilan menulis akademik dan pemahaman bahasa baku. Untuk menjaga keseimbangan antara kreativitas berbahasa dan pelestarian bahasa baku, diperlukan strategi edukasi berbasis literasi kebahasaan. Penerapan metode pembelajaran yang lebih interaktif, pemanfaatan media sosial sebagai sarana edukasi bahasa, serta peningkatan kesadaran akan pentingnya penggunaan bahasa Indonesia yang baik dan benar menjadi langkah strategis yang harus diterapkan.

Abstract

Today’s young generation faces a variety of complex challenges, such as academic pressure, social media dynamics, and high social expectations, which can trigger stress, anxiety, and burnout. Burnout, characterized by emotional exhaustion, decreased motivation, and feelings of helplessness, is increasingly experienced by the younger generation. Mental resilience, or the ability to bounce back from adversity and adapt to change, is key in facing these challenges. This study explores the role of psycholinguistics, the study of the relationship between language, thought, and behavior, in building the mental resilience of the younger generation. Through a qualitative approach and literature review, this study identifies psycholinguistic-based strategies, such as the use of positive words, reframing, and therapeutic storytelling, to improve mental resilience. The results show that positive and constructive language can help the younger generation manage stress, increase self-confidence, and build a more resilient mindset.

Abstract

Indonesian has a Central Material in education, especially in the formation of literacy and communication competencies for prospective elementary school teachers. In the digital era, challenges in the use of Indonesian are increasingly complex, along with technological developments, changes in learning patterns, and the rampant use of foreign languages in various digital platforms. This study aims to analyze the role of Indonesian in elementary teacher education and identify the challenges and adaptation strategies needed to remain relevant in the midst of digital dynamics. The research method used is a qualitative approach with literature study analysis and interviews with educators and prospective elementary teacher students. The results showed that although Indonesian remains the main language in learning, there are obstacles such as low interest in digital literacy in Indonesian, the dominance of learning resources in foreign languages, and the lack of technology integration in language teaching. Therefore, adaptation strategies are needed, such as strengthening Indonesian-based digital literacy, developing innovative learning resources, and increasing digital competence for prospective teachers. Thus, Indonesian can continue to play a role as an effective communication and education tool in learning at the elementary school level, while being able to compete in the digital era.

Abstract

The advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed the field of education, particularly through the integration of ChatGPT as an interactive learning tool. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of ChatGPT in teaching biographical texts to tenth-grade students in Bahasa Indonesia classes. Employing a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, the research involved two groups of students: an experimental group that utilized ChatGPT as a learning medium and a control group that relied on conventional teaching methods. Data were collected through achievement tests, student perception questionnaires, and classroom observations. The findings indicate that the integration of ChatGPT enhanced students’ comprehension of the structure and elements of biographical texts more effectively than traditional methods. Moreover, the students in the experimental group demonstrated higher levels of engagement and interest during the learning process. Therefore, the application of ChatGPT as a pedagogical tool for biographical text instruction offers a promising innovation for improving the quality of Bahasa Indonesia education.

Abstract

This research is a final assignment research (Thesis) and was conducted at the Medan City National Hero Middle School in class VIII with 2 classes and a total of 20 students in each class. Data in research using questionnaires and tests. Questionnaires containing questions will be distributed to class VIII students individually and submitted to researchers. Next, during the class VIII students' test, the researcher asked them to create an opinion or new idea that they knew about in the expository text material. Because, researchers looked at the process of writing ability of class VIII students in expository text material. The results of research that has been carried out on class VIII students show that: (1) To analyze students' ability to write exposition texts in Indonesian language subjects using a direct learning model from class VIII of National Hero Middle School. With a score of 66.42 vulnerable in this learning, students still have not mastered and are able to use the learning model that has been given by the facilitator (teacher) (2) To analyze how students are able to write expository texts in Indonesian language subjects using the Self-Organized learning model Learning Environment. With a maximum score of 84.85, it can be seen that it is very different from the learning model used by the teacher in that class. Therefore, researchers suggest that the SOLE model can attract students in the learning process. (3) To analyze whether there is an influence on the Self-Organized Learning Environment learning model on the writing ability of class VIII students of Medan National Hero Middle School.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa makna dari teks iklan secara kompleks yang dianalisis dengan metafora multimodal berdasarkan interpretasi sumber dan target pada bentuk verbal dan visual untuk memperkaya khazanah pengetahuan bahwa keterlibatan unsur tersebut mengiringi keberhasilan penggunaan bahasa dalam interaksi sosial. Data penelitian ini bersumber dari Youtube. Metode penelitian ini besifat deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan teori hubungan logis intersemiotik. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini adalah kata dan kalimat baik tulisan maupun lisan, gambar, audio, gerakan dalam iklan œTeh Pucuk Harum. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya metafora multimodal dalam iklan Teh Pucuk Harum yang  dianalisis berdasarkan teori Charles Forceville (2017) untuk menentukan modalitas, pemetaan, domain sumber dan target, dan interpretasi makna dengan penerapan metode analisis data peneliti mengidentifikasi, mengklasifikasi, menginterpretasi, dan menyimpulkan hasil analisis data. Hal tersebut dilakukan agar makna pesan dapat terealisasikan sehingga membuat pendengar atau pembacanya lebih mudah memahami maksud dari pesan yang disajikan dari iklan Teh Pucuk Harum tersebut.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the media literacy of generation Z in the digital era among pupils and students at SMK Negeri 7 Medan class XI MPLB 1 through a questionnaire and distributed using Google Form.  The results of this research reveal that the majority of Generation Z (82.1%) said they like literacy and 92.9% of Generation Z said that using social media for literacy has positive and negative influences, and some of them spent less than 1 hour on it. literacy in social media.

Abstract

The purpose of this study seeks to analyze the conceptualization of political metaphors contained in political discourse in mass media in Medan-Indonesia. The problem analyzed is how to conceptualize political metaphors in national mass media (waspada.go.id, medan.tribunnews.com, sumut.antaranews.com, and hariansib.com). The main theory used to discuss this research problem uses the conceptual metaphorical theory/CMT of Lakoff, Johnson, and Kövecses. This research uses qualitative descriptive methods, with methods using basic referential techniques. The total data is 15, sorted according to CMT theory. The results of the study found that the conceptualization of political metaphors in the mass media in Indonesia is divided into 4 mapping domains, namely: war domain mapping, religious, mystical/occult, and animal. The conceptualization of political metaphors in the mass media explains the manifestation of political reality in society. Politics is conceptualized into warfare, the religious reality of society, the unseen and the reality of the bad picture of politicians.
