Abstract

The ability to empathize is the ability to understand, have tolerance, and pay attention to others to avoid violent, cruel, or criminal behavior. This study aims to obtain empirical data and determine the effectiveness of group counseling services through game techniques to increase the empathy of class X students at Juang Kencana Health Vocational School, Sukabumi. This type of research uses a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group research design. Sampling technique using simple random sampling. The population is 57 students. Samples were obtained through pretest results. The results of the pretest researchers took 50 people as research subjects. Subjects were divided into two groups: 25 were the experimental group, and 25 were the control group. The data collection technique uses a research instrument in the form of a questionnaire. The number of empathy questionnaires is 60 items. Twenty-one items are invalid, and the remaining 39 will be distributed to respondents. Analysis techniques using t-test analysis. Based on the t-test results, tcount = 8,15 table = 2,110 with a significant level of ? =0,05 and dk=n-1 (25-1=24). From the study results, it can be seen that count? table. So the null hypothesis (Ho), which states “group guidance using game techniques is not effective for increasing the empathy of class X student at Juang Kencana Health Vocational School Sukabumi,” was rejected. While the alternative hypothesis (Ha) states that “group guidance through game techniques is effective for increasing the empathy of class X students at Juang Kencana Health Vocational School Sukabumi” is Accepted. As for recommendations for future researchers, it is hoped that they can use appropriate and more varied techniques, such as the socio-drama technique

Abstract

Abstract: Student engagement constitutes a critical aspect of the learning process, encompassing behavioural, emotional, and cognitive dimensions. These three components collectively determine the extent of students' active participation in educational activities and significantly influence their academic achievement. When student engagement is low, students are less likely to reach optimal learning outcomes. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of classical guidance services in enhancing student engagement among 11th-grade students at SMA Al Ma’soem during the 2024/2025 academic year. This research employs a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design. The sample consists of 31 students, selected through simple random sampling. The results revealed that classical guidance services did not produce a statistically significant improvement in student engagement, as indicated by a p-value of 0.747 and a t-value of -0.325. Thus, no significant difference was observed between the pre-test and post-test scores, leading to the acceptance of the null hypothesis (H0) and the rejection of the alternative hypothesis (H1). These findings suggest that the classical guidance program, in its current form, is not practical in fostering higher levels of student engagement. Therefore, alternative intervention strategies should be considered, such as incorporating more interactive and experiential learning methods, to better support and enhance student engagement in the learning process.

Abstract

In the view of social professions such as counseling and psychotherapy, empathy plays an important role as a bridge to build an effective therapeutic relationship so that the counselor can understand the client's experience, a low level of empathy will clearly indicate a destructive nature of the relationship between the client and the counselor. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of classical guidance services in developing empathy for students of the guidance and counseling study program at Ma'soem University class of 2023. A quantitative method with a type of pre-experimental research of one group pre-test post-test design was used in this study, the population of 42 students with the use of saturated samples. The measuring tool used is the Empathy Scale for Prospective Counselor (ESPC) which was developed based on Segal's theory (2018). The results showed that the significance value of 0.875 and the Tcount value of -158 showed that there was no difference between the pre-test score and the post-test score, meaning that classical guidance services were not effective in developing empathy, Thus, in this study, H0 was accepted and H1 was rejected.

Abstract

This study is motivated by low academic self-confidence which can reduce students' learning motivation in completing school assignments. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of academic self-confidence of grade X students of SMA Plus Al-Aqsha Cibeusi in the 2023/2024 school year. The study used a descriptive quantitative approach with a population of all X grade students totaling 136 students. The sampling technique used saturated samples, so that the entire population was sampled. Data collection is done through observation, interviews, and distribution of self-confidence instruments with a Likert scale. The validity test was carried out on 54 items and obtained 31 valid questions using the Product Moment formula with a significance of 5%. Reliability test using Cronbach's Alpha coefficient obtained a value of 0.719, indicating a reliable instrument. Normality test using Kolmogorov-Smirnov showed a significance of 0.613, so the data was normally distributed. Data analysis used descriptive statistics with frequency distribution to categorize self-confidence in the high, medium, and low categories. The results showed 16 students (12%) were in the high category, 119 students (88%) in the medium category, and 1 student (1%) in the low category.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of self-control on student discipline at SMK Pasundan Jatinangor. A quantitative approach employing a survey method was utilized. The sample consisted of 235 tenth-grade students, selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data analysis using simple linear regression revealed that self-control has a positive and significant effect on student discipline. The regression coefficient value of 1.099 with a significance level of 0.000 (< 0.05) indicates that each increase in self-control is followed by an increase in student discipline. The coefficient of determination (R Square) value of 0.589 shows that self-control contributes 58.9% to student discipline, while the remaining 41.1% is influenced by other variables not examined in this study. The categorization results also indicate that the majority of students fall into the high self-control and high discipline categories. These findings highlight the importance of fostering self-control as a strategy to enhance student discipline, both in academic contexts and in overall school setting.

Abstract

Parental social support is an important factor that affects the career decision-making process of students. This study aims to examine the influence of parental social support on career decision making among 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri Cimanggung in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research uses a quantitative method with simple linear regression analysis to measure the effect of variable X (parental social support) on variable Y (career decision making). Parental social support was measured using a questionnaire developed based on the theory of Sarafino and Smith (2011), while career decision making was measured with an instrument developed based on the theory of Conger (1991). The population of the study consisted of all 427 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri Cimanggung in the 2024/2025 academic year, using a saturated sampling technique. The analysis results showed a regression coefficient of 0.329 with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). This indicates that there is a positive and significant influence of parental social support on the career decision making of 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri Cimanggung in the 2024/2025 academic year. The contribution of the parental social support variable to career decision making is 14.8%, while the remaining 85.2% is influenced by other factors outside this study.

Abstract

Generation Z grows and develops in a dynamic digital era so that technology itself becomes an integrated part of daily life. In a survey conducted by the Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) in 2024 based on age, Indonesia's highest internet penetration is generation Z (2997-2012) at 34.40%. However, high mastery of technology and social connections provide an unfavorable side to Generation Z such as increased stress, in a study conducted by the Institute Public de Sondage d'Opinion Secteur (IPSOS) it was said that out of 23,274 respondents, as many as 43% of Generation Z experienced higher stress than other generations. The purpose of this study is to review the literature related to the high impact of technology use on mental health. The results show that the regular use of technology can have a two-sided impact on its users, social support, mental health information and opportunities to express themselves are positive impacts that can be obtained, while cyberbullying, FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), increased anxiety and stress, and body image issues, are challenges that will be faced by technology users.
