Abstract

Ex-migrant workers are often found dealing with the lack of union that could cater their needs. These people that are mostly female are often excluded from the process of decision making in their own villages. In 2013, a program from civil society organization called Desbumi (Desa Peduli Buruh Migran or Migrant Workers Care Village) Initiative was launched in Wonosobo District, with the aim to improve migrant workers’ living conditions - especially female - through empowering female ex-migrant workers group. In 2016, a similar program called Desmigratif (Desa Migran Produktif or Productive Migrants Village) Initiative was spearheaded by the Ministry of Manpower, which shares the same goal with Desbumi Initiative. Building upon the debates surrounding the concept of sisterhood provided by Bell Hooks and Robin Morgan, this study discusses whether the top-down approach in organizing female ex-migrant workers residing in Kuripan, Lipursari, Rogojati, and Sindupaten Village through Desbumi and Desmigratif initiative could result in any forms of sisterhood formed during the implementation of the programs, and challenges that they faced along the way. This study found that characteristics associated with sisterhood of friendships were apparent in all female ex-migrant groups, signified by mutual support among women, shared experience, journey of self-discovery, and collective identity built upon similarities. On the discussion of challenges, several obstacles such as lack of regeneration, women’s domestic burden, and the issue of sustainability appeared along the journey of the sisterhood of ex-migrant workers.

Abstract

Background: This TMJ problem or jaw joint disorder is classified as an emergency, so treatment must be done immediately. The causes of this jaw joint problem are multifactorial. Generally divided into two, namely structural disorders and functional disorders. Functional disorders arise due to deviant function due to abnormalities in the position or function of the teeth and chewing muscles. Treatment, when someone has TMJ problems, is usually a reduction action that is carried out directly by a doctor. This cannot be done by ordinary people. However, sometimes people self-diagnose and resort to invalid sources which can actually lead to more serious problems. Method: The educational method is carried out by active counseling and discussions given to the people of Margasari Village. Then, the community was asked to fill out a questionnaire to assess the effectiveness of delivering material about this TMJ. Result: People who have filled out the questionnaire were found to have a significant difference between before and after being given the material. People become more aware of the material and are expected to be able to apply it in everyday life. Conclusion: There is a significant difference between before and after being given TMJ games.

Abstract

Aplikasi berbasis mobile untuk deteksi dini penyakit kulit memiliki potensi besar dalam meningkatkan kesadaran dan pemahaman masyarakat terhadap kesehatan kulit. Program pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi dan sosialisasi terkait pemanfaatan teknologi kecerdasan buatan dalam deteksi dini penyakit kulit kepada mahasiswa dan tenaga kesehatan di STIKES Telogorejo Semarang. Kegiatan ini meliputi pelatihan penggunaan aplikasi, pemahaman dasar tentang teknologi kecerdasan buatan dalam analisis citra medis, serta diskusi interaktif mengenai pentingnya deteksi dini dalam pencegahan penyakit kulit. Metode yang digunakan mencakup presentasi, demonstrasi langsung, serta sesi praktik dengan studi kasus nyata. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta mengenai teknologi deteksi penyakit kulit berbasis AI, serta meningkatnya minat dalam mengadopsi teknologi digital dalam bidang kesehatan. Selain itu, peserta juga memberikan umpan balik positif terkait kemudahan penggunaan dan manfaat aplikasi dalam mendukung diagnosis awal. Kesimpulannya, edukasi dan sosialisasi ini berhasil meningkatkan literasi digital di bidang kesehatan serta mendorong pemanfaatan teknologi dalam layanan medis. Ke depan, pengembangan aplikasi lebih lanjut dan implementasi di fasilitas kesehatan diharapkan dapat semakin meningkatkan kualitas layanan kesehatan berbasis teknologi

Abstract

Backgrounds: Restoring damaged or diseased bone is a major challenge in dentistry. Marine biota, such as seashells, crustacean shells, and fish bones, are rich in calcium and can be processed into safe, biodegradable materials that support bone healing. These natural sources are gaining attention for use as bone graft substitutes because they are biocompatible, widely available, and promote bone growth. Purpose: This review aims to discuss and analyze the potential of marine biota as bone graft materials rich in calcium hydroxyapatite for use in bone regeneration, with a particular focus on their clinical relevance in dentistry. Methods: A scoping review was conducted using Google Scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect databases to identify relevant studies published between 2015 and 2025. Results: An initial total of 134.007 articles were identified across the three databases. After removing duplicates and screening based on title and abstract relevance to the inclusion criteria, 2.836 articles remained. A further selection process narrowed these down to 452 full-text articles, of which 433 were excluded due to incompatibility with the review focus. Finally, 19 studies were included in this review and analyzed for their methodology, findings, and clinical implications. Discussion: Many studies have shown that marine biota can be used as effective bone graft materials. Their high calcium content, porous structure, and compatibility with body tissues help support cell attachment, growth, and new bone formation. These materials can be used in dental procedures to help regenerate bone and repair defects. Conclusion: Marine-derived materials, especially from mollusks and crustaceans, are similar to human bone and show great potential as alternatives to synthetic bone grafts. Their natural properties and ability to support bone healing make them a promising, sustainable option for dental and oral bone repair.

Abstract

Penyakit degeneratif seperti diabetes melitus, hipertensi, penyakit kardiovaskuler dan sindrom metabolik merupakan penyebab utama kematian di dunia. Faktor risiko terjadinya penyakit degeneratif salah satunya adalah pola makan yang tinggi lemak jenuh, tinggi kadar gula, dan rendah serat. Makanan fermentasi mengandung probiotik dan senyawa bioaktif yang mempunyai potensi untuk mencegah timbulnya penyakit degeneratif. Kegiatan edukasi terhadap masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai manfaat konsumsi makanan fermentasi sebagai upaya pencegahan penyakit degeneratif. Metode yang digunakan berupa penyuluhan, diskusi interaktif dan evaluasi tingkat pengetahuan peserta penyuluhan menggunakan pre-test dan post-test. Penyuluhan ini melibatkan sebanyak 23 peserta yang merupakan kader Pemberdayaan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (PKK) Desa Banjardowo, Kota Semarang. Hasil pre-test didapatkan rerata skor pengetahuan peserta yaitu 5,91±2,07. Hasil post-test yang dilaksanakan setelah penyuluhan menunjukan adanya peningkat pengetahuan, dengan rerata skor meningkat menjadi 7,43±1,75. Hasil Uji Paired Sample T-test didapatkan hasil yang signifikan (p= 0,034). Hasil ini menunjukan bahwa program edukasi berbasis komunikasi efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat, ditandai dengan peningkatan pengetahuan pada peserta mengenai manfaat makanan fermentasi sebagai upaya pencegahan penyakit degeneratif. Kegiatan ini juga memberikan informasi mengenai rekomendasi praktis dalam konsumsi harian makanan fermentasi seperti tempe, tape, kombucha, yogurt, acar dan kimchi sebagai bagian dari pola makan yang sehat. Degenerative diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic syndrome are among the leading causes of mortality worldwide. One of the major risk factors for degenerative diseases is an unhealthy diet characterized by high intake of saturated fats and sugar, combined with low fiber consumption. Fermented foods contain probiotics and bioactive compounds that have the potential to prevent degenerative diseases. This community education activity aimed to increase public understanding of the health benefits of consuming fermented foods as a preventive strategy against degenerative diseases. The methods employed included evidence-based health education, interactive discussions, and evaluation of knowledge through pre-test and post-test assessments. A total of 23 participants from the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) Banjardowo village, Semarang city were involved in this activity. The pre-test results showed an average knowledge score of 5.91 ± 2.07. The post-test, conducted after the educational session, indicated an improvement in knowledge, with the average score increasing to 7.43 ± 1.75. The results of the Paired Sample T-test showed a statistically significant difference (p value = 0.034). These findings indicate that evidence-based educational programs using effective communication strategies can substantially improve knowledge, particularly regarding the role of fermented foods in preventing degenerative diseases. In addition, this program provided practical recommendations for daily consumption of fermented foods such as tempeh, tape, kombucha, yogurt, pickle and kimchi, as part of a healthy diet.

Abstract

Respiratory diseases such as asthma, pneumonia, and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) remain major global health challenges, particularly in resource-limited settings where access to pulmonary specialists and early diagnostic tools is limited. Automatic lung sound classifications have emerged as a promising non-invasive screening approach; however, existing methods often rely on single-scale feature extraction, conventional loss functions, and offline analysis, which limit their discriminative capability and real-time applicability. The aim of this study is to develop and evaluate a deep learning framework for real-time multi-class lung sound classifications that improves discriminative representation and temporal sensitivity. To address limitations, this study proposes MK-TripNet, a novel deep learning architecture designed to integrate multi-scale feature extraction, discriminative embedding learning, and real-time inference within a unified framework. The main contribution of this work is the unified integration of a Multi-Kernel convolutional architecture, Triplet Loss-based embedding learning, and Sliding Window segmentation within a single end-to-end framework, enabling accurate segment-level lung sound classifications in real-time scenarios. Unlike prior approaches, the proposed method simultaneously captures fine-grained temporal patterns and broader spectral characteristics while explicitly maximizing inter-class separability in the embedding space. The proposed model was evaluated using a newly constructed dataset comprising 1,409 lung sound segments obtained from primary digital stethoscope recordings and publicly available respiratory sound databases. Experimental results demonstrate that MK-TripNet consistently outperforms several strong baseline models, including CNN-BiGRU, CNN-BiGRU-UMAP, and VGGish-Triplet, achieving an accuracy of 89.1%, an F1-score of 0.89, and a recall of 0.88. Ablation studies further confirm that the combined use of Multi-Kernel convolution, Triplet Loss, and Sliding Window segmentation yields the most robust and generalizable performances. These findings highlight the clinical potential of MK-TripNet for real-time digital auscultation and point-of-care respiratory screening, particularly in resource-limited and telemedicine settings.
