Abstract

Dayak onions (Eleutherine Palmifolia (L.) Merr.) bulb stem contains phtyochemical contents, which act as antidiabetic compounds, such as eleutherol, eleuthocide A, and eleutherinoside B, as well as antioxidant compounds, which include triterpenoid, poliphenol, and flavonoid. Dayak onions was able to be used as the antidiabetic, since it had the ability to lower the blood glucose level and prevent from the free radicals, thus supressing the oxidative stress condition. This research had purpose to analyze the effect of Dayak onions bulbstem as antioxidant and anti diabetic drugs. The research used experimental method with the population in this research was 25 male white mice strain wistar. The concentration of Dayak onions bulb-stem extracts were 300mg.kgBW-1, 400mg.kgBW-1, and 500mg.kgBW-1. Data analysis used Tukey HSD Test with 95% of significance degree and was continued using manova test (average group ratio test). The result showed that. the extract of Dayak onions bulb-stem had the antidiabetical and antioxidant activity, which could lower the blood glucose levels and malondialdehid on the male white mice strain Wistar with the optimum effective doze of 500 mg.kgBW-1.Keywords: Dayak onions bulb-stem, Blood glucose level, Malondialdehid (MDA)

Abstract

This study aims to determine the presence of additives in food samples in wet noodles and meatballs. The research method used is an analytical method with an experimental design (pre-experimental, the object of research is wet noodles and meatballs. Then both samples are added with formalin and borax to determine whether the two samples contain borax and formalin or not. The results showed that none of the samples contained borax. If a food contains borax, then when the food is dripped with borax (indicator) it will experience a color change to brick red. However, during the formalin test, some of these foods contain formalin, namely, wet noodles, and meatballs, where this is known from the changing color, namely when the two samples are dripped with CuSO4 there is a change in color, namely a yellowish color which indicates that the sample contains formalin.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the comparison of menstrual cycles in undernourished and overweight adolescents at SMA Negeri 1 Pinolosian. This research method uses an observational research design with a cross- sectional approach. The population of this study was 128 female students. The sample used was 95 respondents using a purposive sampling technique. Using data analysis techniques, namely Univariate analysis with frequency distribution tables and Bivariate with Chi-Square test P = <0.05. The results showed that there were 46 (36%) undernutrition and 49 (38.2%) over nutrition. Normal menstrual cycles for undernourishment 31 (63.3%) and for over nutrition 26 (56.6%), while undernourished those with abnormal menstrual cycles 18 (36.8%) and over nutrition 20 (43.3%). A good diet with poor nutrition 27 (58.7%), and not good 19 (41.3%). While a good diet on excess nutrition 25 (51%) and not good 24 (49%). And the results of the Chi Square test of normal and abnormal menstrual cycles in undernourished and overweight adolescents with a P value = 0.00 There is a comparison of the menstrual cycle in undernourished and overweight adolescents. It is recommended for female students to pay attention to diet properly in order to get good nutritional status so that it can also have a good impact on the menstrual cycle.

Abstract

Excess weight can cause changes to the body's cells, making the body's cells resistant to the hormone insulin. This can cause blood glucose levels to increase. This study aims to determine blood glucose levels in obese patients and the factors that influence them. This study aims to assess blood glucose levels in obese patients at the North City Health Center and the factors that affect them. The method in this study uses a descriptive quantitative approach. The type of data used is primary data from research results of blood glucose levels in obese patients and secondary data in data from the literature, books, questionnaires, and medical record books. The sampling technique in this study used accidental sampling, with a total sample of 29 people. The results showed that from 29 obese patients, there were 24 people or 82.8% whose blood glucose levels were abnormal, while five people, or 17.2%, had normal blood glucose levels. Factors that affect blood glucose levels in obese patients are gender, age, physical pattern (Body Mass Index/BMI), physical activity, and eating patterns (number of calories). Suggestions to the next researcher are suggested to examine blood sugar levels between the obese and non-obese groups as a comparison.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between dietary patterns and the incidence of anemia among female students living in dormitories at Bina Mandiri University, Gorontalo. Anemia is a common health issue, particularly in developing countries, with a high prevalence among women of reproductive age. This research is motivated by the high prevalence of anemia among young women in Indonesia, including female students living in dormitories. Data were collected through questionnaires and hemoglobin tests among students of the Faculty of Science, Technology, and Health Sciences (FSTIK). Preliminary results indicate that out of 5 respondents, 3 were found to be anemic. Irregular eating habits and low iron intake through diet were identified as major risk factors for anemia. This study is expected to provide valuable information for improving nutritional knowledge, particularly in efforts to prevent anemia among female students. The findings of this research may also serve as a reference for future studies and the development of more effective nutrition education programs.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder disease marked by the increase of blood sugar due to the decreased of insulin secretion by the pancreas beta cell and insulin resistance. By measuring the glycohemoglobin (HbA1C), it can be ascertained how much the percentage of hemoglobin pigment containing glucose is. This study aimed atinvestigating the description of HbA1c levels in diabetes mellitus patients at Puskesmas Dungaliyo. It was a descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The data were primary data collected form the evaluation result on HbA1c levels in diabetes mellitus patients and secondary data collected from questionnaires and medical records of diabetes mellitus at Health Center Dungaliyo. The technique of sampling was accidental sampling by having 39 respondents as samples.. Findings revealed that out of 39 samples, 35, or 89.7% had abnormal HbA1c levels, while, the rest 4 samples or 10.3% had normal HbA1c levels. It can be recomemended that Diabetes Mellitus patients should regularly check with the docror and check in the laboratory as well as maintain a healthy life style to have good Diabetes Mellitus control.
