Abstract

Abstract

Dengue fever is an endemic arbovirus disease that often causes morbidity and mortality. Rapid and appropriate treatment of dengue fever can be done if a rapid and specific test during the acute phase of infection can be done. An examination that has been developed is the dengue non-structural antigen (NS1) examination which can detect dengue virus infection earlier. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between clinical signs and symptoms with NS1 examination results in patients suspected of dengue fever at the Sukodadi Health Center. The type of research is descriptive analytical with a cross-sectional approach to 86 patients at the Sukodadi Health Center, Lamongan Regency using a simple random sampling technique. Data collection was carried out on patient medical records based on the results of clinical signs and symptoms of the examination and the results of the NS1 examination. The collected data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test, with a significance level of p <0.05. The results of the study showed that most patients (72.1%) were diagnosed with suspected dengue fever, most (79.1%) had negative NS1 examination results, and the Chi-Square test results obtained x count = 8.812, and p = 0.003 (<0.05), then H0 was rejected, meaning that there was a relationship between clinical signs and symptoms with NS1 examination results in patients with suspected dengue fever. The conclusion of this study is there is a significant relationship between clinical signs and symptoms with NS1 examination results in patients with suspected dengue fever

Abstract

Dengue fever (DHF) is a disease that becomes an epidemic in an area every year. Prevention of the spread of DHF has been widely carried out as well as for vector bites. The use of repellent as one way to protect humans from mosquito bites. Alternative to the use of chemicals through the use of plants to repel mosquitoes need to be introduced. Mosquito repellents using plant-based ingredients have the advantage of being easily decomposed in nature. The aim of this study is to determine the content of secondary metabolites that can be used as mosquito repellents through multilevel extraction and to test the effectiveness of secondary metabolite content on the repellent power of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. This study is an experimental study using 3 types of solvents with different levels of polarity. The results of the study obtained were positive for flavonoids with ethyl acetate solvent, positive for tepenoids and tannins with ethanol solvent. The positive compounds from the Azolla extract have the potential to repel mosquitoes.

Abstract

Anemia is a condition where hemoglobin levels, hematocrit and red blood cell counts decrease below normal values. This research aims to find out. A simple examination of hemoglobin levels using an HB Meter with a Hemachroma Plus Tool, the POCT method, has the advantage of only requiring a small amount of capillary blood sample. Research title "Comparison of Hemoglobin Levels of Pregnant Women Using the Hemochroma Plus POCT Method and Semi- Automatic Hematology Equipment in the Lenteng Community Health Center Laboratory, Sumenep Regency." Number of Research Subjects: 50 ANC pregnant women. Capillary blood examination material for POCT devices and K3EDTA venous blood for semi-automatic hematology devices. Data processing used the Independent T Test and the results obtained were p=0.001 (?>0.05), there was a higher difference in hemoglobin levels on the POCT tool compared to the semi- automatic hematology tool. The average value of the POCT Hb level is (12.18) or 12.2 G/dL and the hematology analyzer tool's average value of the HB level is 11.29 or 11.3 G/dL. Conclusion: The HB level value of the POCT tool is higher 8% compared to semi-automatic hematology equipment

Abstract

Coffee contains a lot of phenolic compounds, especially chlorogenic acid, therefore many studies have examined the potential of coffee as an antioxidant. Antioxidants can inactivate oxidation reactions and prevent the formation of free radicals. This research aimed to determine the total phenolic and flavonoid content of the ethanol extract of robusta coffee (Coffea canephora) and the ethanol extract of arabica coffee (Coffea arabica), as well as determine the % inhibition value of Arabica coffee ethanol extract and Robusta coffee ethanol extract and their combination as antioxidants in vitro. Robusta and Arabica coffee powders were soaked in ethanol solvent, respectively, and the filtrate was concentrated using a rotary evaporator. The extract’s flavonoid and total phenolic content were measured by UV-Vis spectrophotometry. An antioxidant activity test was carried out using the DPPH method. The phenolic content of the ethanol extract of robusta coffee powder and the ethanol extract of arabica coffee powder were 7.98 and 9.16 mg QE/g, respectively. The total flavonoid content of the ethanol extract of robusta coffee powder and the ethanol extract of arabica coffee powder were 11.5 and 14.2 mg GAE/g, respectively. The highest % inhibition values of the ethanol extract of arabica coffee powder and the ethanol extract of robusta coffee and their combination as antioxidants in vitro were 71.1, 85.1, and 86.4%.
