Abstract

Labu Parang is one of the vegetables that is widely grown and has a high content of antioxidants and vitamins for health. Yellow squash has good prospects as an alternative to other foodstuffs because it has an equivalent value to rice in terms of carbohydrates and protein. Meanwhile, this pumpkin product has long been known and favoured due to the diversity of processed products derived from pumpkin raw materials. Increasing the productivity of honey gourd is a challenge to increase the production of horticultural commodities in general, national income and reduce imported commodities. This research was conducted in Labu Madu Village, to be precise in Toyoresmi Village, Ngasem District, Kediri Regency. This research is a one-factor experiment (single), namely the treatment of seedling age consisting of 6 levels (B0, B1, B2, B3, B4, and B5) then repeated 5 times. This research was conducted in rice fields so that the environmental conditions were heterogeneous (one-way fertility), therefore a Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) was used.Labu Parang merupakan salah satu sayuran yang banyak ditanam dan memiliki kandungan antioksidan yang tinggi dan vitamin untuk kesehatan. Labu kuning mempunyai prospek yang baik sebagai alternatif bahan pangan lain, karena memilki nilai yang setara dengan beras dari aspek karbohidrat maupun protein. Sedangkan produk labu kuning ini telah lama dikenal dan disukai karena keanekaragaman produk olahan yang berasal dari bahan baku labu kuning.Peningkatan produktifitas labu madu merupakan tantangan untuk meningkatkan produksi komoditas hortikultura secara umum, pendapatan nasional serta mengurangi komoditas impor. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Kampung Labu Madu tepatnya di Desa Toyoresmi, Kecamatan Ngasem, Kabupaten Kediri. Penelitian ini merupakan percobaan satu faktor (tunggal) yaitu perlakuan umur bibit terdiri dari 6 level (B0, B1, B2, B3, B4, dan B5) kemudian diulang sebanyak 5 kali. Penilitian ini dilakukan di sawah sehingga kondisi lingkungannya heterogen (kesuburan satu arah) oleh sebab itu digunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) atau Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD).

Abstract

Kurangnya tingkat kesadaran masyarakat akan penggunaan pupuk an-organik yang berlebihan serta kurangnya wawasan dalam pemanfaatan limbah kotoran ternak menjadi masalah yang serius karena dapat menyebabkan pencemaran lingkungan dan kesehatan yang terganggu. Kotoran ternak yang tidak dimanfaatkan berpotensi untuk dijadikan pupuk organik sebagai pengganti penggunaan pupuk an-organik. Pengabdian masyarakat ini diharapkan akan memberikan hasil dimana dapat menambah wawasan, pemahaman, dan keterampilan masyarakat Desa Ringinpitu Kecamatan Kedungwaru Kabupaten Tulungagung. Metode yang diterapkan pada kegiatan ini adalah diskusi, sosialisasi, dan juga metode demonstrasi praktik langsung di lapangan. Luaran yang akan didapatkan dari pengabdian ini adalah dapat memberikan pengetahuan mengenai pembuatan kompos/bokashi sebagai pengganti pupuk an-organik, mengurangi limbah ternak di Desa Ringinpitu, menciptakan lingkungan yang sehat dan konsumsi makanan sehat bagi masyarakat, dan mengembangkan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi di perguruan tinggi. Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat akan dievaluasi selama pelaksanaan. Evaluasi awal dilakukan oleh tim pelaksana dalam dua tahap kegiatan. yaitu kegiatan inti yaitu saat peserta menerima materi dan praktik terkait pupuk kompos/bokasi organik, dan di luar kegiatan inti yaitu verifikasi kualitas pupuk. Produk yang dibuat setelah menyelesaikan program pengabdian masyarakat dan mempertimbangkan apakah tujuan dari pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat ini dapat tercapai.   The lack of public awareness of the excessive use of inorganic fertilizers and the lack of insight into the utilization of livestock manure is a serious problem because they can cause environmental pollution and disrupt health. Animal manure that is not utilized can be used as organic fertilizer as a substitute for inorganic fertilizers. This community service is expected to provide results which can add insight, understanding, and skills to the people of Ringinpitu Village, Kedungwaru District, Tulungagung Regency. The method applied in this activity is discussion, socialization, and direct practice demonstration in the field. The outputs that will be obtained from this service are providing knowledge about making compost/bokashi as a substitute for inorganic fertilizers, reducing livestock waste in Ringinpitu Village, creating a healthy environment and consuming healthy food for the community, and developing science and technology in universities. Community Service Activities will be evaluated during implementation. The implementing team carried out the initial evaluation in two stages of activity. Namely the core activity, namely when participants receive materials and practices related to organic compost/bokasi fertilizer, and outside the core activity, namely verification of fertilizer quality. Products made after completing the community service program and considering whether the objectives of implementing this community service can be achieved.

Abstract

Bio-compost can help increase water holding capacity, because in addition to containing a lot of organic matter, it also makes the soil hygroscopic and the structure becomes crumbly. Giving Blotong bio-compost at a dose of 80 tons / ha is very good because it increases the development of sugarcane roots and can increase production. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of bio-compost blotong on the growth of sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum). The research was conducted in the field of Tegal which is located in the village of Blabak, Kandat sub-district, Kediri Regency. altitude of 100 masl. This research was carried out in the field using a one-factor Randomized Block Design (RAK) where the treatment factor was blotong dose: B0 = 0 tons ha-1, B1 = 5 tons ha-1, B2 = 10 tons ha-1, B3 = 15 tons ha-1, B4 = 20 tons ha-1, B5 = 25 tons ha-1. Parameters of observations made consisted of: Growth Percentage, Plant height, Number of leaves, Number of tillers, Stem diameter. The results of the research on the treatment of Blotong bio-compost fertilizer were significantly different, with the highest percentage of plant shoot growth at a dose of 20 tons ha-1, which was 89.17%. Plant height with a dose of 20 tons ha-1 is 94.75 cm. The highest number of leaves of the plant was 16.25 cm. The highest number of tillers of the sugarcane plant was 9.22 stems, the diameter of the stem of the highest sugarcane plant was 15.95 cm.

Abstract

The Effect of Dosage of Za Fertilizer on The Initial Growth of Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum) Variety PS 80-148. Sugarcane is one of the important ingredients in the process of making sugar in Indonesia. The initial growth of sugarcane plants is the beginning and subsequent development, therefore by providing fertilizers that match the needs of the plants can increase the productivity of sugarcane plants. In sugarcane cultivation, ZA is the fertilizer that must be applied because it does not have an impact on reducing sugar levels (yield), in contrast to just giving urea fertilizer. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ZA dosing on the early growth of sugarcane plants. This research was carried out in the field using a randomized block design (RBD) consisting of one factor repeated four times. ZA fertilizer dose treatment factor: B0 = Without giving ZA, B1 = Giving a dose of 150 Kg ZA / Ha, B2 = Giving a dose of 300 Kg ZA / Ha, B3 = Giving a dose of 450 Kg ZA / Ha, B4 = Giving a dose of 600 Kg ZA / Ha, and B5 = Giving a dose of 750 Kg ZA / Ha. ZA fertilizer dose of 600 kg / ha showed the best treatment for the percentage of shoot growth, which was 76.25%, plant height was 53.00 cm, number of leaves was 14.12 strands. Then the dose of ZA fertilizer 600 kg / ha showed the best treatment for the number of tillers, namely 7.43 stems, stem diameter of 15.82 cm.

Abstract

The response of plants to environmental stress depends on the type of plant, the level, and the duration of stress. Drought stress affects growth, development, and the content of secondary metabolites produced by the plant. Kumis kucing (Orthosiphon aristatus (Blume) Miq.) is one example of a tolerant plant to drought stress. A study was conducted to compare the effect of several drought stress levels on plant growth and its sinensetin content. For this purpose, the experiment was carried out in a greenhouse with a one-factor complete randomized design, namely the level of water availability. The treatment tested consisted of: 100; 50; 37.5; 25; 12.5 percent of field capacity. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance and further tested with the Duncan Multiple Range Test level of 5% on significant results. The High-Performance Liquid Chromatography method was employed to test the sinensetin content (in percentage). The results showed that low water availability (50-12.5% field capacity) harmed plant growth and negatively affected leaf, stem, and root dry weight. The reduction in growth was highly significant in plants with water availability of 12.5% of field capacity. In low water availability, the plant that experience drought stress produced greater sinensetin content (0.0133%). Increased sinensetin in drought stress condition is a biochemical and physiological response of plants to unfavourable conditions.

Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is highly favored among people with high economic status. In addition to being rich in various minerals and vitamins, lettuce is often used as a garnish in culinary dishes. This study aimed to determine the relationship between fertilizer types and planting media composition on the growth and yield of lettuce. The experiment was designed using a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors: fertilizer type (J) and planting media composition (K), with treatments repeated three times. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by the least significant difference (LSD) test at a 5% significance level. The results indicated a significant interaction between treatments on parameters such as plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, and root length. The combination treatment J3K3 yielded the best results. Fertilizer type significantly influenced plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, leaf area, crown fresh weight, root length, and crown dry weight, with J3 (vermicompost fertilizer) being the most effective. Planting media composition significantly affected the number of leaves, stem diameter, and leaf area, with K3 (a composition of 1 kg of beach sand and 5 kg of organic fertilizer) producing the best outcomes. Sayuran selada (Lactuca sativa L.) sangat popular di kalangan masyarakat dengan ekonomi tinggi. Selain, kaya akan berbagai mineral dan vitamin, selada kerap dijadikan sebagai garnis disetiap hidangan makanan. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui apakah jenis perlakuan pupuk dan komposisi media tanam berhubungan dengan pertumbuhan dan hasil selada. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap dua faktor (RAL) yakni Jenis pupuk (J) dan komposisi media tanam (K) kemudian perlakuan diulang sebanyak tiga kali. Data penelitian dianalisis menggunakan metode analysis of variance (ANOVA) yang dilanjutkan dengan uji beda nyata terkecil (BNT) 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat interaksi nyata antar perlakuan terhadap parameter tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, diameter batang dan panjang akar. Perlakuan kombinasi J3K3 menunjukkan hasil terbaik. Perlakuan jenis pupuk berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, diameter batang, luas daun, berat segar tajuk, panjang akar, dan berat kering tajuk, dengan perlakuan J3 (pupuk kascing) yang terbaik. Perlakuan komposisi media tanam memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah daun, diameter batang, dan luas daun, dengan komposisi K3 (komposisi 1 kg pasir pantai + 5 kg pupuk organik) menunjukkan hasil terbaik.

Abstract

Limitation of Physical Interaction (Physical contact / physical distancing) during the COVID-19 pandemic has caused changes in the lifestyle or habits of the community, the economic crisis, and made health an expensive item. There is a fact that the level of community income has decreased due to social restrictions to break the chain of pandemic transmission COVID-19. Weak purchasing power and soaring prices for medicines have forced people to seek efforts to overcome this situation by looking back to nature. The use of traditional medicine for health maintenance and disease disorders is one of the things that is most likely to be done. Community service activities began with a survey on community understanding of family medicinal plants. The survey results showed 18.75% of the community knew the toga plant well. Then 43.75% of people have moderate knowledge. Meanwhile, 37.50% of people have a low level of knowledge about toga plants. Then carried out identification of medicinal plant species cultivated by the people of Gurah Village. The identification results showed 21 medicinal plants cultivated by the people of Gurah Village.Keywords: Medicinal Plants, COVID-19, Herbs

Abstract

The technical assistance and farmer empowerment activities in Lirboyo Subdistrict aim to raise environmental awareness, reduce dependency on chemical inputs, promote self-reliance in sustainable agricultural practices, and engage in the Go Green campaign. This program involves collaboration between university students, local farmers, and vocational high school students (SMKN), who work together through various activities. A Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach, along with preliminary observations and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) involving local farmers, students, and participants from SMKN 1 Kediri City, was employed to identify needs. Furthermore, the program used demonstration methods to provide skills in the production of organic fertilizers, engaging farmers, university students, and vocational students in the process. The outcomes of this program show highly positive impacts. These include increased knowledge and skills among farmers, students, and vocational students in producing and applying liquid bokashi fertilizer, implementing natural pest control, and a shift in attitudes as indicated by participants’ growing awareness of the importance of environmental preservation. Participants also expressed a willingness to share information about organic fertilizer production with friends, family, and the surrounding community through direct communication and social media videos. Additionally, participants expressed interest in maintaining ongoing discussions with agricultural extension officers through digital messaging platforms. Kegiatan pendampingan teknis dan pembinaan petani di Kelurahan Lirboyo bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran lingkungan, mengurangi ketergantungan penggunaan bahan kimia, mendorong kemandirian dalam praktik pertanian berkelanjutan dan terlibat dalam upaya kampanye go green. Program ini melibatkan mahasiswa, petani, dan siswa SMKN, yang bekerja sama dalam berbagai kegiatan. Pendekatan yang dilakukan untuk mengidentfikasi kebutuhan adalah dengan pendekatan PRA (Particaptory action research), observasi pendahuluan, FGD yang melibatkan petani setempat, mahasiswa, dan siswa SMKN 1 Kota Kediri. Selanjutnya, kegiatan ini juga mengguanakan metode Demonstrasi untuk memberikan keterampilan pembuatan pupuk organik yang melibatkan petani, mahasiswa dan siswa SMKN 1 Kediri. Hasil dari program ini menunjukkan dampak yang sangat positif. Hasil dari kegiatan ini dapat terlihat dari peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan petani, mahasiswa, dan siswa SMK berupa kemampuan dalam membuat dan mengaplikasikan pupuk bokhasi cair, mampu melaksanakan pengendalian OPT alami, serta berdasarkan hasil komunikasi dengan peserta kegiatan ingin terjadi perubahan sikap berupa kesadaran pentingnya menjaga kelestarian alam dan berkeinginan untuk ikut menyebarkan informasi terkait pembuatan pupuk organik kepada teman, keluarga, dan masyarakat disekitarnya melalaui komunikasi langsung, dan video di sosial media. Selain itu, para peserta juga ingin untuk dapat berdiskusi secara berkelanjutan melalui pesan digital dengan penyuluh.

Abstract

Low pH and limited nutrient availability in peat soil hinder optimal mustard growth, underscoring the need for effective organic amendments. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of rice husk ash and rabbit urine liquid organic fertilizer (POC) on soil pH and mustard plant growth in peat media. The experiment was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors: rice husk ash (0, 15, 20, and 25 tons/ha) and rabbit urine POC (0, 15, 30, and 45 mL/L), replicated three times for a total of 48 polybag units. Prior to transplanting, rice husk ash was incubated in the soil for one week to increase pH. Mustard seedlings were grown for 28 d, and POC was applied weekly for three weeks as both foliar and soil treatments. Growth parameters measured included plant height, leaf width, leaf number, and fresh biomass. The results showed that both rice husk ash and rabbit urine POC significantly influenced all measured growth parameters. The highest fresh weight (40.22 g) was observed in the P2K1 treatment (20 tons/ha ash + 30 mL/L POC), while the best overall vegetative performance was recorded in P3K2. It can be concluded that the integrated use of rice husk ash and rabbit urine POC can effectively improves peat soil properties and enhances mustard growth. This study highlights the potential of utilizing agricultural waste-based organics to support sustainable crop production in acidic soil environments.
