Abstract

The Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework is crucial for every educators and teachers when dealing with teaching and learning by using technology. There are three essential components of TPACK which have to be fully mastered in order to conduct any teaching and learning session via whatever technological means and platforms, especially in the current situation of COVID-19 pandemic which requires the teacher to adapt with suitable teaching and learning remote strategies including online assessment. This study is conducted to investigate the level of technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) skill among Arabic school teachers in preparing online assessment for remote teaching and learning prior to a training workshop organized by the Malaysian branch of Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, ICESCO-KUIS and Islamic Education Unit, Ministry of Education, Malaysia. The main author has been conducting the TPACK training module among 56 Arabic school teachers in Johor, Malaysia on 5-6 October, 2020 from selected all districts, while only 40 of them responded to the survey after the workshop via Google Form. Moreover, all participants were responding concurrently to the open-ended survey during the workshop via Mentimeter.com. This research instruments were investigating the teachers’ knowledge about three essential components of TPACK, which include technology, content, and pedagogy as well their suggestions and feedbacks towards employing online assessment and effectiveness of conducted workshop. The findings are expected in contributing towards the understanding of the teacher’s level of knowledge in technology, pedagogy, and content among Arabic school teachers in Malaysia especially for online teaching and assessment. The study may also beneficial to other similar settings where the technology has not been effectively utilized by teachers in schools.

Abstract

Learning strategy is a way to help students at mastering language and assimilate with it successfully.The studentsusing certain strategies inlanguage learning, will learn more effectively. This research was aimed to identify the direct strategies used by Arabic language students while learning the language in the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). This research depended on qualitative research method by using a semi-structured interview protocol as a mean for data collection, and the participants were selected from students of Advanced Arabic language course at the International Islamic University Malaysia in 1stsemester, 2014/2015. The ATLAS.ti was used for data analysis; then, this research discovered (26) twenty-six direct learning strategiesused by the learnersin learning Arabic language. The results of this research were beneficial in improving the level of learning Arabic language, andgood for the teachers to recognize the difficulties faced by their students while learning the Arabic language.DOI: 10.15408/a.v3i2.3679

Abstract

This research aimed at finding out how the orientation is towards Arabic language computing, the efforts contributed to this approach, the difficulties encountered in linguistic computing, and the solutions to these challenges in an applied and theoretical approach at the same time. One of the outputs of the research was to develop a proposed vision and a mission (digitization or computerization of the Arabic language) within the programs of the Arabic language at Sultan Zainal Abidin University in Terengganu, Malaysia. The study concluded several recommendations, the most important was the need for concerted efforts in the field of Arabic computer linguistics between linguists and students, and to spread computer awareness among linguists by encouraging universities to allocate a course on computerization of the Arabic language and creating a new specialization in Arabic language, to develop the linguistic councils in fulfilling the challenges of computerization of Arabic, translating all scientific works written and published in the field of Arabic computer linguistics in foreign languages by Arab and foreign researchers and transferring them into Arabic, creating a dictionary for the computer linguistics terminology in Arabic, and applications of developments of instructional technologies such as machine translation, electronic dictionary and so on.

Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of Islamic prophetic counseling in developing students' noble morals. The research method uses a true experiment involving a control group. The selection of the control group uses the waiting-list control group model, with consideration of the ethical aspects of the study. The research sample involved 244 students captured the profile of noble morals and their spiritual activism. While the hypothesis test involved 50 students who were divided into control and experimental groups. The sample selection was carried out randomly with the random assignment technique. The research data were collected using a noble moral questionnaire. The covariate analysis test was used to analyze the data obtained. The results of the hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.002, smaller than the research alpha (α) value of 0.05. Islamic prophetic counseling has been proven effective in developing noble morals. Based on empirical evidence, this study makes a new contribution by strengthening the role of spiritual counseling as the fifth force in a comprehensive counseling and psychotherapy paradigm.
