Abstract

Sidewalks are essential for facilitating pedestrian movement and promoting sustainable transportation in urban areas. On Kapten Sudibyo Street in Tegal City, which serves as a main access route to Kardinah Hospital, the sidewalks currently do not meet adequate safety and comfort standards. Problems such as uneven surfaces, reduced width, poor maintenance, and obstructions like illegal parking and public facilities hinder pedestrian comfort and accessibility. This study aims to assess the comfort level of these sidewalks, focusing on factors including width, cleanliness, surface condition, lighting, and signage. Using qualitative method with observations and Guttman-scale surveys distributed to 200 respondents, mainly local students who frequently use the sidewalks, the research analyzed how these factors impact perceived comfort. The results reveal a generally low comfort level, with 72% of respondents expressing dissatisfaction due to poor conditions of the sidewalk. Key recommendations include widening sidewalks to a minimum of 200 cm, repairing uneven surfaces, maintaining cleanliness, upgrading lighting, and providing clear signage. Additional measures involve relocating obstructive public facilities and enforcing regulations against illegal parking to enhance accessibility and safety. These improvements are crucial for creating a more inviting and functional pedestrian space, encouraging walking as a mode of transport, and contributing to a healthier urban environment.

Abstract

Public transportation plays an important role in facilitating portability, especially in urban areas. In Tegal City, public transportation is an important mode of transportation for its citizens. However, ergonomic assessments of public transport vehicles are often neglected, resulting in potential discomfort and welfare issues for passengers and drivers. This research evaluates the ergonomic design of public transportation using an anthropometric approach to adapt vehicle dimensions to the user's physical needs, such as seating, legroom and accessibility. The results of the analysis provide recommendations for improvements, including increased ventilation, seat adjustments and safety features, to create a more comfortable and safer transportation system. By collecting and analyzing anthropometric information from agent testing results on clients in Tegal City, this research asks questions to identify the imbalance between the physical size of public transportation and the needs of its users. It is hoped that these findings will suggest changes to the plan that increase comfort, reduce fatigue, and improve general well-being. It will also contribute to a broader understanding of how ergonomic standards can be linked to open transport frameworks to improve client experience and safety.

Abstract

Traffic accidents are a serious issue in Yogyakarta, with one of the leading causes being drowsy driving. Drowsiness while driving can reduce alertness, response time, and the driver's ability to react to emergency situations, thereby increasing the risk of accidents. This phenomenon not only causes material losses but also endangers the lives of drivers, passengers, and other road users. This study aims to analyze the impact of drowsiness on traffic accidents in Yogyakarta, identify factors influencing drowsiness while driving, and provide recommendations to reduce the risk of accidents caused by driver fatigue and sleepiness on the road. This study uses a quantitative approach, gathering data from traffic accident records in Yogyakarta over the past year. Additionally, a survey was conducted with drivers involved in accidents to measure their level of drowsiness while driving, duration of travel, and other related factors. The data were analyzed using Descriptive methods to examine the relationship between drowsiness and accident incidents. The study found a significant correlation between drowsiness while driving and the increased risk of accidents in Yogyakarta, especially during late night and early morning hours. Drivers who traveled long distances without adequate rest were at higher risk. Accidents most frequently occurred among drivers traveling for more than 2 hours without a break, particularly between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. Further public education is needed regarding the dangers of drowsy driving. Additionally, it is recommended to increase the availability of rest areas and checkpoints on main roads, especially during high-risk times. The implementation of drowsiness detection technology in vehicles may also provide a solution to reduce drowsiness-related accidents.

Abstract

In Indonesia, underage motorcycle riders are frequently found operating vehicles without a valid driver's license, raising significant safety and legal concerns. This study aims to explore the motivations and behaviors of these underage riders, as well as the factors contributing to their non-compliance with traffic regulations. Conducted at SMAN 1 Randudongkal with 114 respondents, the research employed a quantitative descriptive approach. This method systematically analyzes numerical data to provide an in-depth understanding of a population or phenomenon, focusing on descriptive insights rather than causal relationships. Data collection was carried out through a structured questionnaire distributed via Google Forms. The analysis revealed that the primary motivations for students riding motorcycles to school without licenses are "saving time" (16.7%) and "the distance from home is too far" (16.7%). Other contributing factors include "convenience over alternative options" (13.2%), "lack of public transportation" (7.0%), and "peer influence" (2.6%). These findings highlight the need for targeted interventions to address this issue, including improved access to public transportation and enhanced awareness campaigns about traffic safety and legal compliance. This study provides valuable insights into the behaviors and decision-making processes of underage motorcycle riders, serving as a foundation for policymakers and educators to develop effective strategies to mitigate this growing concern.
