This article describes John Calvin, the second generation of reformers in church history or Christian history who systematized reform theology through his theological movements and thoughts. This description is based on randomly selected literature reviews that study the life of John Calvin and his theological thoughts that focus on the sovereignty of the Triune God over all His creation. The specialty of Calvin's thought also lies in the integrity and integration between abstract theology and holistic spirituality. Therein lies the strength of the church which must continue to be reformed, namely the supremacy of God's sovereignty and integrative theology-spirituality which is the legacy of John Calvin which should be actualized and continuous in the procession of the church in its historical course.

Religion has a significant contribution to social, economic and political development. By promoting moral and ethical values, religion is able to form a collective consciousness to promote harmony and harmony in society. In addition, religion is also a driving force in poverty alleviation, education, health, and environmental protection. However, it should be remembered that excessive religious influence can lead to extremism and disrupt social stability. Therefore, the development of religious moderation is important to maintain a balance between spiritual beliefs and the demands of modern progress, while fostering interreligious dialogue and intercultural interaction to encourage mutual respect and sustainable development. This article analyzes the role of religion in development as the development of religious moderation. In a complex and multicultural global context, the role of religion in providing moral and ethical guidance is crucial for achieving sustainable social progress. However, it is necessary to be aware of the risk of extremism and intolerance which could hinder development. Therefore, this article highlights the importance of interfaith dialogue and inclusivity in ensuring the positive contribution of religion and creating a peaceful and stable society. The results of the analysis in this article are expected to provide guidance for society and especially the world of higher education to optimize the role of religion in achieving inclusive and sustainable development goals

This article delves into the notion of reconciliation as presented in Christian doctrine and examines its significance in the context of religious moderation for promoting interfaith harmony in Indonesia. The objective of this study is to elucidate the principles of reconciliation within Christian teachings and discern the implications of this concept within the realm of religious moderation. The research methodology employed is a literature review, with a primary focus on analyzing the theology of reconciliation and its incorporation into religious moderation. The findings of this research underscore that Christian teachings concerning reconciliation encompass values such as forgiveness, peace, and inner transformation. These values align with the essence of religious moderation, which encourages dialogue, tolerance, and interfaith cooperation. The implications of these reconciliation principles from Christian teachings for religious moderation exhibit substantial potential in fostering interfaith harmony in Indonesia. To attain this objective, it is evident that these teachings play a pivotal role in shaping an all-encompassing and peaceful society within the context of existing religious diversity, thereby offering significant potential to fortify the harmonious coexistence of various religions in Indonesia.

Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan utama untuk mengidentifikasi dan mengatasi tantangan yang muncul dalam diskursus teologi formasi spiritualitas Kristen melalui analisis literatur dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif dan pendekatan content analysis. Fokus utama penelitian adalah pemahaman pertumbuhan rohani sebagai perjalanan menuju kedewasaan spiritual. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, peneliti mengeksplorasi peran kunci elemen-elemen seperti peristiwa kelahiran kembali, signifikansi Firman Allah, praktik disiplin rohani, dan pertumbuhan dalam konteks komunitas gereja, yang semuanya merupakan anugerah Allah saja. Melalui identifikasi, seleksi, dan analisis literatur yang relevan, khususnya buku-buku yang membahas formasi spiritualitas secara teologis, penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan content analysis untuk mengkategorikan dan menganalisis pola-pola makna terkait dengan teologi formasi spiritualitas Kristen. Temuan utama dari penelitian ini mengungkapkan aspek-aspek penting pertumbuhan rohani, seperti peran sentral Firman Allah, praktik disiplin rohani, dan pertumbuhan dalam konteks komunitas gereja. Lebih lanjut, temuan penelitian ini memberikan gambaran bahwa pertumbuhan rohani bukan hanya sebuah konsep teologis, tetapi juga memiliki implikasi praktis yang signifikan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari individu Kristen. Kesadaran diri dan hambatan-hambatan utama dalam pertumbuhan rohani menjadi fokus utama hasil penelitian ini. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini tidak hanya memberikan kontribusi teoretis terhadap diskursus teologi formasi spiritualitas Kristen, tetapi juga memberikan wawasan praktis yang dapat membimbing individu Kristen dalam perjalanan pertumbuhan rohani mereka, terutama pada era kontemporer yang penuh dengan tantangan.

This article describes the implementation of contextual theology models as transculturation contextualization of the evangelism to the Tugutil ethnic in Halmahera, North Maluku. The research was carried out using a qualitative ethnographic type approach built by literature studies on elements in local theology which include the inculturation of belief in God, man, sin and salvation. The purpose of this research is to formulate models of contextual theology that are relevant to the Tugutil ethnicity by utilizing their local theology. The results of this study show that there are elements of local theology of the Tugutil people who are "relatively close" so that they can be “meted” with the teachings of the Bible through functional substitute or re-culturation. In addition, there are also elements that are "relatively distant" from the teachings of the Bible, so they must experience worldview substitute or de-culturation. The final results of this study show that by examining, identifying and analyzing elements of local theology adhered to by the Tugutil ethnicity, it is possible to find similarities (potentials and opportunities) as well as differences (crises) between the teachings of the Bible and their animist-dynamism beliefs. This makes it possible to carry out a contextual evangelistic approach by implementing certain contextual theological models as transculturation.

This article reviews an in-depth study on the Local Theology of the Bolaang Mongondow Ethnicity, focusing on history, ethnic origins, perspectives on God, and the contextualization efforts of the Gospel. With a long history, Bolaang Mongondow carries a cultural richness reflected in their Local Theology, examined through content analysis methods on relevant literature. Beliefs in Ompu Duata and ancestral spirits serve as the foundation of cultural authenticity, particularly in wedding and funeral customs. The worldview of this ethnic group is shaped through the elements of ancient belief in Ompu Duata. This research reveals contextualization strategies that empower Local Theology through content analysis, emphasizing the importance of preserving local terms while assigning new meanings consistent with Gospel teachings. Overall, this study provides a profound understanding of the harmonious balance between Local Theology and Gospel teachings, laying the groundwork for meaningful relationships with this ethnicity, and contributing to discussions on belief pluralism and cultural heritage preservation amid global dynamics.

This research explores the fundamental differences between the concept of Church Planting and general approaches in contemporary church growth. The article highlights that church planting is driven by strong theological principles, putting church ontology as the cornerstone. It is presented that hermeneutics must precede methodology, and theology must precede anthropology. Readers are invited to explore the deeper and scholarly dimensions of Church Planting. Church planting involves planting congregations and emphasizing the ontological dimension closely related to evangelism, in accordance with biblical teachings. Qualitative research with a hermeneutic approach and theological studies reveals that the ontology of church planting is derived from the Bible, involving a proper understanding of church doctrine. This article makes an important contribution to the scholarly discourse on church planting, discussing theological, ontological, and finally methodological aspects as implications. Disajikan bahwa hermeneutik harus mendahului metodologi, dan teologi harus mendahului antropologi. Pembaca diundang untuk menjelajahi dimensi lebih mendalam dan ilmiah terkait Perintisan Jemaat. This study explores the design or big picture of God of the flow of life and the Supremacy of His grace and faithfullness as expressed in the narrative of the book of Ruth, especially in chapters 2-4.The research was carried out using a narrative form criticism method approach which was supported by studies and analysis of various literatures relevant to the research problem, namely narrative components, namely storylines and scenes, story time, storytelling techniques, figures, characters, narrator, motives, climax and goals. and storytelling themes. Through the use and application of narrative form criticism, discourses on the design or the big picture of God are found in the story plot and the big theme regarding the supremacy of God's steadfast love in fulfilling His covenant in the figures/actors, characters, situations, events and messages in Ruth chapters 2-4. Thus, after understanding its meaning, it will be possible to believe, do and preach as the work of God's grace in redeeming and saving personally as well as restoring and transforming the whole creation.AbstrakStudi ini menelusuri desain atau gambar besar Allah atas alur kehidupan dan Supremasi Kasih Setia-Nya sebagaimana yang diungkapkan dalam narasi kitab Rut, khususnya dalam pasal 2-4. Penelitian dilaksamakan dengan menggunakan pendekatan metode kritik naratif yang didukung dengan kajian dan analisis kepada beragam literatur yang relevan dengan masalah penelitian yaitu komponen-komponen narasi yakni alur cerita dan adegan, waktu cerita, teknik penceritaan, karakter/tokoh, narator, motif, klimaks serta tujuan dan tema penceritaan. Melalui pemanfaatan dan penerapan kritik narasi tersebut ditemukanlah diskursus mengenai desain atau gambar besar Allah dalam plot cerita dan tema besar mengenai supremasi kasih setia Allah dalam menggenapi perjanjian-Nya dalam sosok/pelakon, karakter, situasi, peristiwa dan pesan dalam Rut pasal 2-4 tersebut. Dengan demikian setelah memahami maknanya akan memungkinkan untuk dipercaya, dilakukan dan diberitakan sebagai karya anugerah Allah dalam menebus dan menyelamatkan secara pribadi maupun memulihkan dan transformasi segenap ciptaan.

This article delves into the significance of Hesed, or loyal love, in the Book of Ruth, examining its theological implications for both human-divine relationships and interpersonal connections. It investigates how Hesed is depicted in the narrative of Ruth and Boaz, elucidating its role in worship and daily life. Methodologically, the study involves a close textual analysis of the Book of Ruth, employing a theological lens to interpret God's message of steadfast love. The findings reveal a profound understanding of God's inclusive and universal Hesed, with implications extending into the New Testament through the actions of Jesus Christ. This underscores the significance of God's unwavering love as a guiding principle in our relationships with both God and fellow humans, shaping a life reflective of the values encapsulated in Hesed.
