Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of Destination Management Organization (DMO) on the development of Sugihen Tourism Village, by examining how coordination and strategies implemented by DMO can improve economic growth, cultural preservation, and environmental sustainability in the tourism village. The study used a mixed methods approach, which integrates quantitative and qualitative methods. Quantitative data were obtained through a survey of 120 respondents, which were analyzed using multiple linear regression tests and descriptive analysis to measure the relationship between the perception of the role of DMO (independent variable) and the level of tourism village development (dependent variable). The results showed that an effective DMO role is key to optimizing tourism village development. Solid coordination, integrated marketing strategies, and active community participation are important elements that support improving the quality and competitiveness of tourism villages, while maintaining cultural and environmental sustainability. These findings are also supported by qualitative data that reveal the role of DMO in strengthening coordination between stakeholders and increasing active community participation in strategic decision making. Thus, this study confirms that the implementation of an effective, participatory, and integrated destination management model is the main key to achieving sustainable tourism village development and improving the welfare of local communities.

Abstract

This research aims to analyse the optimisation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in digital marketing strategies to support the development of tourism MSMEs in Sugihen Village in the Society 5.0 era. The background of this research is driven by the low level of adoption of AI-based digital technology by MSME players, even though this technology has great potential in increasing promotional effectiveness, consumer engagement, and competitiveness of local products. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, with in-depth interview techniques and observation of 10 local MSME players in the tourism sector. The results showed that most MSME players have utilised social media in promotion, but have not optimally integrated AI technology. The main barriers are lack of training, digital literacy, and limited infrastructure. Nonetheless, there is strong interest in AI as a future marketing solution. This research proposes a strategy to strengthen the digital capacity of MSME players through training, community-based mentoring, and collaboration with technology stakeholders. By optimising AI, Sugihen Village MSMEs have the potential to increase consumer engagement, expand markets, and contribute to sustainable local economic growth.

Abstract

This study aims to answer the question of how much tourism destination managers in Indonesia have implemented a sustainability context by adopting the criteria that have been standardized in the global sustainable tourism council destination (GSTC-D) policy. This study uses a bibliometric method approach. The findings of the study are that out of 21 international studies indexed by Scopus, only 6 (six) studies focus on the development and management of sustainable tourism destinations in Indonesia using the GSTC-D approach. So this is a big challenge that needs to be faced together by both tourism destination managers and the Government and communities around tourist destinations to support each other in realizing sustainable tourism destinations throughout Indonesia. The conclusion is that subsequent research can study the management of sustainable tourism destinations in the cultural sector such as protection of cultural heritage, visiting cultural sites because Indonesia is rich in local wisdom, as well as studies on environmental impacts such as nature tourism conservation, resource management, and waste and emission management
