Abstract

Abstract

This study analyzes spending priorities in the 2025 State Budget at the outset of the new government in Indonesia, aiming to evaluate whether budget allocations truly reflect the long-term needs of society or are predominantly influenced by short-term political interests. A primary concern is the potential for budget deviations to be utilized as a means of enhancing political image, advancing populist initiatives, or rewarding political allies. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, integrating quantitative analysis of State Budget data and welfare indicators with qualitative analysis of policy narratives and public opinion. The findings reveal that the infrastructure and social assistance sectors have seen significant budget increases, particularly in areas that benefit the ruling government. In contrast, the education and environmental sectors received comparatively less attention. This pattern suggests a political spending approach that is not fully aligned with national development planning documents. The implication is that the State Budget risks becoming a political tool rather than a genuine instrument of development. The originality of this study lies in its focus on the onset of a new government period, employing a combination of analytical and critical approaches to uncover the tendencies toward the politicization of the state budget.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of national income, interest rates, and household consumption on the savings in Indonesia. The data used is secondary annual time series data for the period 2004-2023, obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics and Bank Indonesia. The analysis method used is multiple linear regression with the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) approach. The results showed that simultaneously the three independent variables had a significant effect on savings. Partially, national income has a positive and significant effect, household consumption has a negative and significant effect, while interest rates have a positive but insignificant effect on the level of savings. These results suggest the importance of macroeconomic strategies that support income growth and consumption efficiency to strengthen the saving capacity of Indonesians.

Abstract

This research focuses on the implementation of the QRIS payment system, BI-Fast services, and the digitalization of the management of the State Budget (APBN) through SPAN, as well as how digitalization aids the success of monetary and fiscal policies in Indonesia. The lives of the Indonesian people are now significantly influenced by digital transformation in recent years, which has helped to increase household consumption and the economic resilience of the country. This study employs descriptive qualitative research aimed at analyzing the impact of digitalization on the effectiveness of macroeconomic policies, both monetary and fiscal. Descriptive research was chosen because this study focuses on explaining phenomena rather than seeking associations between variables. The results indicate that the implementation of digital payment systems has improved financial inclusion, transaction efficiency, and transparency in the management of the state budget. Despite challenges in implementation, such as lengthy bureaucracy and the potential for budget misuse, digitalization through SPAN is expected to accelerate the payment and disbursement processes. Future research will focus on exploring social impacts, investigating effective collaborations, and creating a digital ecosystem.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the factors affecting inflation in Indonesia, focusing on government policies, exchange rate fluctuations, and international trade. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study examines the linkages between the government’s fiscal and monetary policies in controlling inflation, the dynamics of the Rupiah exchange rate against the US Dollar, and the role of exports and imports in influencing the domestic inflation rate. The results show that monetary policy through interest rate setting and fiscal policy through government spending significantly affect inflation. Fluctuations in the rupiah exchange rate tend to trigger inflation through increased costs of imported raw materials. In addition, international trade through both exports and imports has the potential to affect inflation through changes in demand and supply of goods in the domestic market. This study provides implications for the formulation of economic policy, particularly in anticipating the impact of external factors on inflation and maintaining price stability.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of budget changes on output and economic growth in Indonesia through the income and spending approach. Using a descriptive method that combines qualitative analysis and secondary quantitative data, this research examines data on state revenue, government expenditure, and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from 2019 to 2024. The analysis results show that changes in budget allocation, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, have had a significant effect on aggregate demand and the national economic performance. Although there was a decline in state revenue in 2020, increased government spending in strategic sectors successfully supported economic recovery and growth in the following years. Graphs and tables support the findings that maintaining a balance between revenue and expenditure is key to economic stability. Therefore, appropriate and adaptive fiscal policies are crucial to supporting sustainable economic growth in Indonesia.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to re-evaluate the relevance of the Philipps curve in Indonesian economy post COVID-19 pandemic. According to the Phillips Curve theory, there is a negative correlation between unemployment and inflation, but the post-pandemic economic landscape presents complications. Using a descriptive perspective, and linear regression on the 2019 − 2024 inflation and unemployment data, research suggests that they are inversely associated with each other, yet, insiginificant from the statistical point of view. So this says that: whatever the causes of inflation, they are mostly from other variables such as changes in global supply chains and international policy decisions (global in addition to domestic policy) rather than unemployment. The traditional view of the Phillips Curve model thus is considered not suitable in modeling Indonesia macroeconomic nowadays. These findings underscore the need for a more flexible, locally-sensitive and data-informed approach to policy-making with respect to the economy.
