Abstract

It all started with students' lack of understanding of determining profit or loss percentages. Students had difficulty connecting the concept of percentages to real-life situations, making learning less meaningful. This study aimed to create a learning trajectory using the PMRI approach in the context of selling New Math Pempek to help students understand the concept of profit and loss percentages more deeply. This study involved 25 students at MTs Darul Ulum and employed design research methods, including preliminary design, experimental design, and retrospective analysis. Data were analyzed retrospectively through student worksheet answers, videos, photo documentation, and interviews. The results of this study were a learning trajectory consisting of three activities: (1) estimating and calculating profit percentages, (2) estimating and calculating loss percentages, and (3) solving more complex profit and loss percentage problems. By adopting a contextual approach, students became more engaged and confident in understanding the material, thereby making learning more meaningful.

Abstract

This study has the urgency to examine how the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) at SDN Madugondo serves as a strategic effort to shape students’ character in line with the direction of the Merdeka Curriculum policy. The research employed a descriptive method with a qualitative approach through observation, semi-structured in-depth interviews, and documentation techniques. The researcher acted as the key instrument in observation, while informants were purposively selected, consisting of the Principal, Homeroom Teachers, Project Coordinator Teacher, and four students from grades 1, 3, and 4. Data analysis was conducted using Miles and Huberman’s model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that during the planning stage, teachers prepared project dimensions and themes relevant to sustainable lifestyles; in the implementation stage, coordination was carried out with the principal and other teachers, dissemination was provided to parents and students, and evaluation instruments were developed; whereas in the evaluation stage, teachers observed the learning process, used assessment rubrics, and evaluated the achievement of the Pancasila Student Profile dimensions. The practical implementation of this study demonstrates that P5 is not merely a formal program, but can also be sustainably integrated into the school culture through collaboration among teachers, parents, and students. Scientifically, the results of this study enrich the discourse on implementation strategies of the Merdeka Curriculum, particularly at the elementary school level. Abstract

The current cultural context has become a significant focus in mathematics education, serving not only as a bridge to formal understanding but also as a means of cultural preservation. This study aims to analyse the use of Palembang's cultural context in mathematics education through the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) approach. The analysis was conducted on articles indexed in Scopus and Google Scholar based on publication year, content, methods, student skills developed, and research findings. Data analysis techniques were based on the PIECES framework (Planning, Identifying, Evaluating, Collecting/Elaborating, Explaining, and Summarising). From the selection process, 20 articles that met the inclusion criteria were obtained. The analysis results showed that the dominant cultural context of Palembang included traditional food (pempek), traditional fabrics (songket and jumputan), and trading activities on the Musi River. The most frequently studied mathematical topics were geometry and algebra, with the design research method used as an approach to design learning and develop media such as worksheets, educational videos, and evaluation instruments. The students' ability most frequently focused on was conceptual understanding. These findings provide significant contributions to educators and researchers in developing context-based cultural mathematics learning through the PMRI approach.
