Abstract

Intense competition exists amid the rapid growth of universities worldwide and in Indonesia. Often, private higher education is the victim of defeat from competition. Because competitive pressures such as these will undoubtedly lead to reduced revenues, universities are encouraged to increase their student numbers to increase revenues. According to the theory of planned behavior, the intention to carry out certain actions is an essential prerequisite for the strategy’s success. This research examines the factors influencing students to enroll in private, Muhammadiyah contexts, higher education institutions. By involving 572 respondents and using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis, this research shows that among the factors that influence students’ intention in enrolling in Muhammadiyah Higher Education Institutions are higher education institution image and student characteristics, where both have a positive and significant influence with values (β=0.409; p-value=0.000) and (β=0.461; p-value=0.001).

Abstract

This article examines the urgency of improving service quality within Islamic educational institutions, particularly in response to the growing disparity between rising public expectations and suboptimal service practices. Grounded in the principles of Total Quality Management (TQM), this study aims to integrate service management concepts with Islamic spiritual values derived from the Qur’an and Hadith. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach and thematic exegesis (tafsir maudhu‘i), the article analyzes Qur'anic verses relevant to service ethics and practice. From the provider’s perspective, Surah Al-Hashr [59]: 9 emphasizes sincerity, altruism, and the willingness to prioritize others' needs, as exemplified by the Ansar. From the customer's standpoint, Surah An-Nisa’ [4]: 29 highlights the principle of mutual consent in transactions, while Surah An-Nisa’ [4]: 58 underscores the importance of trustworthiness and justice in equitable service delivery. The Prophetic traditions further reinforce the view of service as a form of worship that promotes ease, assistance, inner peace, and spiritual elevation. The study concludes that integrating Islamic values into service management enhances not only procedural quality but also enriches the moral and ethical dimensions of service. This integration is particularly relevant in advancing both academic and managerial excellence in Islamic educational institutions. Keywords: Service management; Islamic values; Thematic exegesis; Total Quality Management; Service ethics

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of virtual media based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) on students' learning motivation and understanding in fiqh learning at MA Baabussalaam Bandung. This study uses a quantitative approach with an associative research type. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to 51 students, with 49 data that were eligible to be processed using the SPSS for Windows 10 program. The independent variable in this study is the use of AI virtual media, while the dependent variables consist of students' learning motivation and understanding. The results of the study showed that there was a positive and significant effect between the use of AI virtual media on students' learning motivation, as indicated by the Spearman correlation value of 0.779 (p <0.01) and the results of the significant linearity test. This proves that AI virtual media can increase students' interest and enthusiasm in learning fiqh. Meanwhile, the use of AI media also has an effect on students' understanding, but not as strong as its effect on learning motivation. The results of the regression test showed a significant effect (p <0.05), but the correlation was not statistically significant (p>0.05). Thus, AI virtual media has great potential in improving the quality of fiqh learning, especially in terms of students' learning motivation.
