Abstract

Bovine and porcine are poultry meat that consumed worldwide particularly in Southeast Asia.Both of them are prone to food counterfeit owing to several factors such as price, appetite and Halal status. Sensitive and selective analytical methods are required to control meat products that distributed to markets. This paper studied the sensitivity between real – time and conventional PCR or known as qPCR and cPCR, respectively. Bovine and porcine were samples used to verify the sensitivity of them. Nevertheless, those instruments did not show a specific difference during DNA analysis of bovine and porcine. In conventional PCR, two pairs of DNA primers targeted cytochrome b (Cyt b) was analyzed, resulting of 120 and 131 amplicons, respectively. While qPCR applied to analyze porcine and bovine DNA. The detection limit of qPCR after porcine and bovine analysis were at 0.004 and 0.007 µg/µL, respectively. Results demonstrated the qPCR was reliable for verifying porcine and bovine DNA compared to conventional PCR. Furthermore, the study concluded that the developed assay can be easily employed for the identification of porcine and bovine tissue in food products in low resource areas.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis pengaruh faktor merek, faktor produk, faktor harga dan faktor lokasi terhadap perilaku konsumen pempek di Kota Palembang. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Pempek Lala, Chaplin, Sultan, Flamboyan, Beringin, dan Terkenal di Palembang, Sumatera Selatan. Pemilihan lokasi penelitian dilakukan secara sengaja (purposive) mengingat semakin banyak objek dengan variabel harga yang berbeda diharapkan jangkauan responden semakin merata. Penelitian dilakukan secara luas pada bulan Mei hingga Juni 2017. Metode survei yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berkaitan dengan situasi yang memerlukan teknik pengumpulan data tertentu seperti wawancara, kuesioner atau observasi dengan harapan memperoleh gambaran nyata di lapangan. Analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perilaku konsumen dipengaruhi secara signifikan oleh faktor Lokasi, Merek Produk, dan Harga dengan persamaan regresi Y = 0,476 X1 0,335 0,177 X2 0,182 X3 0,247 X4 e dan nilai F terbesar mencapai signifikan 60,434 pada α = 1%.

Abstract

Biogenic amines generally can be found in fish due to amines in fish undergoing a degradation process. According to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), biogenic amines in fish and fish products can cause harm to consumers if consumed more than 50 µg/mL. Thus, it is important to analyze them. Five biogenic amines such as heptylamine, histamine, tyramine, cadaverine and spermidine were extracted using soaking method with methanol 50% (v/v), afterward they were detected in fish and fish products using gas chromatography – flame ionisation detector (GC-FID) and the biogenic amines structures were confirmed using mass spectrometry (MS). The detection limits (DLs) were range at 1.20 – 2.90 µg/mL. Histamine was detected in fish and fish products such as sardine (Sardinella gibosa) and mackerel (Scomberomorus guttatus) at concentration of 5.96 and 2.69 µg/mL, respectively, whereas cadaverine was found in sardine (Sardinella gibosa) at concentration of 4.96 µg/mL. Histamine concentrations in this study were detected below 50 µg/mL which is below the permissible threshold associated with scombroid poisoing.

Abstract

Purpose: This community service activity is aimed to increasing sales of food products through e-commerce platforms which will expand the marketing network and increase groups income. Methodology: This community service activity was done at Kelompok Tani Mandiri, Subdistrict Ilir Barat. These activities carried out through several stages. First, preparation, dan second step was implementation. Participants were socialized and invited to create social own media accounts and made design promotion using canva. Then all of participants were accompanied as the implementatio of socialization. The last step of community service activity was evaluation of program. Results: Participant knew that sales through online media have more advantages than offline media, by using e-commerce. Participants have own social media and could make promotion using graphic design by canva then upload those promotion using their social media. Conclusion: marketplace was one way that could help increased the marketing of service participants by disseminating sales information through social media accounts.

Abstract

Tri dharma perguruan tinggi dalam mewujudkan pengabdian kepada masyarakat untuk berperan aktif guna menjawab permasalahan yang timbul dimasyarakat salah satunya adalah kurangnya pemahaman dan pengetahuan siswa tentang kampus, maka dilakukan pengabdian masyarakat dengan cara sosialisasi kepada siswa/siswi SMA Sains Tahfiz Islamic Center Siak. Keinginan siswa-siswi SMA yang akan lulus pasti menginginkan karir yang baik sesuai dengan yang mereka cita-citakan, sehingga menimbulkan persaingan yang ketat antar siswa di seluruh Indonesia untuk bisa masuk Perguruan Tinggi favorit dan jurusan yang mereka impikan. Permasalahan terkait kurangnya pengetahuan siswa tentang Perguruan Tinggi diselesaikan melalui metode penyuluhan atau sosialisasi, dengan teknik presentasi materi pengenalan dunia kampus, video tentang kampus, video motivasi dan dilanjutkan dengan sesi diskusi. Dari sosialisasi ini diharapkan siswa kelas XII SMA Sains Tahfizh Islamic Center Siak mendapatkan informasi tentang pendidikan tinggi secara umum, jenis pendidikan tinggi, pengenalan fakultas, jurusan dan program studi, sivitas akademika/ civitas academica, akreditasi kampus dan akreditasi program studi, Jenjang Kepimpinan/Jabatan di Perguruan Tinggi, ekstrakurikuler dikampus dan istilah-istilah yang ditemukan dikampus dan diharapkan kegiatan sosialisasi ini dapat menjadi bekal siswa dalam memilih dan menentukan pilihan prodi, jurusan dan kampus sebagai tempat melanjutkan jenjang pendidikan di perguruan tinggi.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a fast and low-cost detection method to determine the difference between hard shell capsule on supplement products containing pork or non-pork gelatin by using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and Partial Component Analysis (PCA). Twelve samples of hardshell capsules were used, among which Eight samples were pure made from pork and some of them adulterated with cow. The samples were detected before using real-time PCR to determine the identity of the samples. All the gelatin samples were measured with the FTIR spectrophotometer in the reflection mode. Spectra were collected in the wavenumber range from 4000-650 cm-1. The results show that the PCA model with the data were pre-processed before PCA was performed. The absorbance data from FTIR were pre-processed using Savitsky-Golay smoothing technique and continued with normalization by peak normalize before subjected to PCA. This newly developed method is fast, involves simple sample preparation and is low cost.

Abstract

Weaning food is given as a complement to breast milk which is helpful for babies in the process of baby led weaning. At six months, the baby's digestive tract is able to digest some food such as flour so baby can be introduced to solid food. Purple sweet potato has good nutrition such as carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins, minerals, and water. Ultrasound modification is considered easier, simpler, and safer because it does not use chemical additives. This research used a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with one variable treatment and three replication. The variable was the ratio of sweet potato ultrasound modified starch and rice flour (0%:100%; 20%:80%; 40%:60%; 60%:40%; 80%:20%; 100%:0%). The result showed the ratio of sweet potato ultrasound modified starch and rice flour had significant effect on the chemical properties of instant weaning food. The significant result was shown by formulation of sweet potato ultrasound modified starch 100% and rice flour 0% with moisture content 3.88%, ash 0.69%, protein 16.87%, fat 1.66%, and carbohydrates 76.88%.

Abstract

Pokdakan Karya Mandiri Jaya is a group of fish farmers located in Marta Jaya Village, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, South Sumatra Province. The main problem faced by Pokdakan Karya Mandiri Jaya is the relatively low survival rate of snakehead fish. This group is only able to produce 5000 snakehead fish larvae at a time spawning with the survival rate of the snakehead fish becoming adult snakehead fish around 70-75%. This is due to a decrease in water quality caused by the accumulation of leftover feed which is not handled regularly. Therefore, a system is needed to monitor pH, temperature and turbidity of water so that cultivators can take initial preventive measures. Service activities are carried out in three stages, the first stage was analytical situation, the second is planning and the last is implementation. The IoT device that was previously installed has already carried out the calibration process. The calibration results showed that the IoT tool can be used in the Pokdakan Karya Mandiri Jaya snakehead fish cultivation. It is hoped that from the application of IoT technology, Pokdakan Karya Mandiri Jaya can reduce the risk of death of snakehead fish and increase snakehead fish production.

Abstract

Biogenic amines are chemical compounds that can be found in protein food. The analysis of biogenic amines in food samples is very important because the toxicity released by them is very adverse if consumed by human. Several methods have been applied and developed in order to detect biogenic amines such as liquid chromatography (LC) and gas chromatography (GC). Nevertheless, both of them are time consuming and using many chemical compounds. Thus, electrochemical sensors become the best solution in order to solve the issues from chromatography methods. Electrochemical sensors are very simple, easy to use and cheap. This paper reviews about various techniques of electrochemical sensor such as chemical sensors, biosensors and optical sensors that have been used for biogenic amines detection.
