Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is a lung disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria transmitted through droplets/saliva. To prevent and break the chain of TB transmission, it is essential to have good knowledge and attitude towards TB prevention. Education activities of the "Ketuk Pintu Waspada TB" program serve as a strategic step in improving knowledge and attitude towards TB transmission prevention in the community. This research aims to determine the effects of education in the "Ketuk Pintu Waspada TB" program on knowledge and attitude towards TB transmission prevention. Method: This quantitative study with a pre-experimental design used a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population in this research is all households (KK) in Banjarsari Kulon Village, Sumbang District, with a sample of 50 respondents using the Cluster Sampling technique with the sampling fraction per cluster formula. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: Knowledge and attitude showed significant results for each with (p = 0.0001). Education significantly affected knowledge and attitude towards TB transmission prevention. Respondent characteristics showed that the majority were aged 20-30 years (38%), with the majority being female (56%). Most respondents had a primary education level (38%), and most were housewives (34%). Conclusion: Education in the "Ketuk Pintu Waspada TB" Program affects knowledge and attitude towards TB transmission prevention in Banjarsari Kulon Village, Sumbang.

Abstract

Hypertension remains a major contributor to illness and death worldwide, and the limited success in achieving optimal blood pressure control is closely linked to patients’ inconsistent use of prescribed medications. This study seeks to explore the association between adherence to antihypertensive therapy and blood pressure outcomes among individuals diagnosed with hypertension at the Pekuncen I Community Health Centre in Banyumas Regency. Employing an analytical case-control observational design, the research involved 88 Prolanis participants whose adherence levels were evaluated using the MMAS-8 instrument, while blood pressure categories were determined based on JNC VIII criteria. Participants were selected through purposive sampling, and the relationship between variables was examined using the Chi-Square test to ensure statistical rigor. Findings revealed that 65.91% of respondents demonstrated adequate adherence, whereas 64.77% successfully maintained controlled blood pressure levels, highlighting a significant statistical association between adherence and blood pressure regulation (p = 0.000). Furthermore, individuals categorized as nonadherent exhibited a substantially higher likelihood 31 times greater of experiencing uncontrolled blood pressure (OR = 31, 95% CI: 4.508–213.168), underscoring the clinical importance of medication compliance. Overall, the study emphasizes that consistent adherence to antihypertensive therapy is a critical determinant of successful hypertension management and should be strengthened through targeted education, continuous monitoring, and supportive interventions from healthcare professionals.
